1st tuning attempt

This is my 1st attempt at tuning a car to my liking. I have been racing for a while now but never really took the time to tune a car to my liking. My focus was on a stacked Impreza WRX Sti Ver. V '98 tuned at Deep Forest. Let me know what can be improved on and what you like. After tuning the car had great grip and acceleration but I think that the cornering could still use some improvement.

I Ran a 1'21.905 @ Deepforest with room to improve

In my personal opinion the car has great acceration and braking. After fine tuning the suspension I got the car to corner a lot better than with no tuning, but it is still a bit tight. On the plus side there is very little sliding when cornering the car bites on turning and accerates out nicely. Let me know what you think on this first attempt.

so you're using Bunta's Impreza, huh?? nice settings.., you could stiffen up the shock rebound to 2 units both front and rear, a little more camber could help too.., BTW which Sports tires did you use?? S1, S2 or S3??

Traditionally, front and rear camber are identical on AWD cars. You'll need to massage the LSD and spring rates for a comfortable setting that fits your car. I have no guarantees, but these LSD settings are from my own work-in-progress tarmac GC8 street car (no downforce) and *may* match your race car:
Front
Initial torque: 23
Acceleration: 46
Deceleration: 7
Rear
Initial torque: 11
Acceleration: 31
Deceleration: 6
The above is just to help point you in the right direction. Deep Forest has gradient inclines after most of its corners and the above LSD settings worked well on them. You can also spend time adjusting the final drive to an appropriate ratio for Deep Forest.

Anything not on road tyres is a race car to you isn't it? He has sports tyres and no wing. It's a road car too.

I will also recommend more camber, the damper settings are fine if they suit you.

I didn't mean to be condescending, but buying out the entire upgrade catalogue gives me the impression of a race car.

I was just having a friendly joke with you :sly: I should have made that more obvious I guess. ;)
If this is Bunta's Impreza, head over to RCV, they have a version of this car. Test it and see how yours compares.

This one's got a good bit more power than our iteration of Bunta's Impreza.

Ours has 340hp, and that's all it needs.

maybe you should reduce the power.., more power=more understeer 👍

Thanks for the tips. The tires are just the good ole default sports. This particular tune I ran had the upgrades on to max out Hp for the sake of seeing what kind of times and speeds I could get out of this car.

if i may suggest, use a Stage 5 Turbo instead of a Stage 3.., sure it has less power, but the powerband is across the entire RPM range, whereas in a Stage 3, the powerband is very narrow..,

The torque surge MAY actually be useful as well, depending on context - if you're using close gearing that operates at high revs only, you may actually be able to create some understeer-fighting breakaway out back. With cars like this as well, most come stock with sophisticated variable center differentials that constantly reapply torque as needed - try running without the VCD and you may find the car to be more balanced. If not, try using a VCD setting that's more rear biased in combination with a softer front stabilizer to prevent snapback. Also, you might be surprised how much more playful and rewarding the car becomes if you run with the stock LSD instead of the purchased FC LSD.

yeah, FC LSD doesn't quite work right on 4WDs.., it's so hard to tune them, you have to set the front and rear wheels separately, and when you do you'll have a headache..,
