I was reading some sort of auto news and I heard rumors about possible entries into the 2004 season of Le Mans.

Toyota might make a return in 2004, no news on what class.

Ferrari Enzo : ten or twelve cylinders for the engine, but not only 8, and a production of at least 25, maybe more...

Nissan changed its mind about the 350 Z, and will homologate if only for JGTC

Courage : a roofed prototype for 2004 in LMP 900 (LMP1 should we say now) ; and a new shape for the C65

Audi : roofed prototype for 2004, with a diesel in 2005

GTS : Lambo Gallardo expected in GTS for 2004

Maserati : 2004 confirmed

Porsche : back in LMP1 with a roofed prototype, with the V10 5.7 liters engine

Diesel : Ricardo is working on it with a V10 Judd basis

Norma : M20 for a LMP2 (ex 675) car

Cobra : a Shelby Cobra Daytona replica in GT for 2004 !

GLV Racing : new prototype for Giovanni Lavaggi at LM (could be an entry for the November race at LM !)

Oreca : back with the Viper SRT-10

A lot of that is speculation at the moment, but I also knew about the Maserati and the Norma, so I can verify those.

A LMP1 Porsche with a 5.7L V10 - sounds like a tin-top Carrera GT, which I had thought they'd canned.

I can confirm the V10 Diesel for Ricardo's, considering the actual Ricardos factory is 2 minuetes down the road from me. Like actually at the bottom of my road. I had work experiance there and they're working on it. Whether it will be in time for Le Mans is another thing but there you go. Although I did hear a rumor that the Audi will be using that diesel as you said in the list, but if the diesel works out they'll be using it for 2004.

BTW I saw a reporrt recently where I couldn't work out whether Maserati were trying out racing components for their racing car on a Ferrari Enzo or whether they're actyually going to race a modified Ferrari Enzo. So it would be a Masserati Enzo.
I don't thinkit will matter that hugely considering they're both owned by Fiat.

Toyota left in 1999 after the GT-One suffered another crushing loss at 24 Hours; Taking second on the podium was enough of a disappointment for Toyota to pull its LMP900 entry, and garner its focus onto F1 racing.

Wow, 2004 sound like it might be fun. Almost like the appearance of the Audi's. Its nice to see Japan moving back to LeMans after not having a strong showing the past few years. The move back to closed roofed cars is nice too! BTW if Porsches entry is a closed top Carrera GT it wont compete in the prototype LMP1 class. It would fit in with the GTS class i believe. Carrera GT along a Bentley EXP Speed 8? or even an Audi R8? nah. But then again pitting it with a Viper seems unfair too.

Cobra : a Shelby Cobra Daytona replica in GT for 2004 !

WOW !..... Now THAT is some fairly interesting stuff fo shizzle  And if Ford can get their **** together and enter a couple of GTs it's the 60 re-visited (Bring on the acid and the LSD) :D

Unfortunatly I feel the probability of a Shelby Cobra Daytona is about as likely as me driving it but nacked!!!:P :(
Though it would soooo kick ass to see a Shelby Cobra Daytona replica and a Ford GT go head to head!!!!

Then you find that the Porsche entry is a remake of the 917... t'would be amazing

And that Ferrari don't come back with the Ferrari Enzo, but it's the Ferrari 512!!!
And that Lola come back with the T70   .
I've now created a puddle on the floor.:embarrassed:

Though I can't see the point in making a road going conecpt of the car if it's going to be in closed prototype class  ?
Why don't they just bring out the concept of the race car, unless they'r actually going to put it out in small production, then surely it could be in GTS.....

Just a point...
I don't know it all, but Bentley are NOT racing in 2004 because to really get something good they would want their car to win three times in a row like the Audi R8.

This won't happen because in 2005 there are going to be major changes towards more road based cars. This means that Toyota are likely to win outright in 2004 because without Bentley the challenge is likely to come from Panoz or other open LMP900s such as the possible Ricardo entry.

Not certain if MG is entering but if they do maybe we will see a LMP675 win outright Le Mans!

Porsche might enter the Carrera GT in 2005, other entrants will likely include the Pagani Zonda S (of GT3 fame) as well as maybe Ferrari Enzo, Koenigsegg (aiming to get 250mph at Nardo with their road car!) and if Audi build the Le Mans Quattro this could be entered.

Sorry about all the maybes and buts BUT we don't know much about 2005 yet.

Ofcourse we don't the year is 2003. However I would like to see the Enzo back and I'd like to see that new Audi do real good, maybe as good as the R8

I didn;t hear about Toyota entering again :odd: .
Ricardo's, Idoubt, as it will be there first year with a LMP900, but you never know.
MG, only as a privateer entry. They pulled the plug after 2002, as their racing budget has got tight. Christ I even think they're pulling out of the BTTC for next year :( .
Pagani entered this year adn I think they went out in the first hour.
And that's all from me :D .

According to endurancesportscar.com there will be NO 675 LMP class in 2004 so I guess MG won't enter:(

There will be a 750 Prototype class instead.

Apparently only the merged LMP900 and closed top Prototype classes can officially ''win'' Le Mans outright.

Thats a shame. Because the last year that MG entered in the LMP 675, they had a real good chance of winning out right. The idea was that the LMP 675's had smaller and less powerful engines than the LMP900's and closed protoypes, but in doing so were a lot lighter and had less fuel consumption. But that just sucks that they're scrapping LMP675 :( .

I wonder whether the 675 LMPs could be converted into a 750LMP by adding extra ballast and using components in the engine which although weighing more may allow it to rev higher. Then we could still have decent racing despite the new rules.

It's hard to find information about new rules on the Net but I'll try and find out more.

Toyota might make a return in 2004, no news on what class. Last time I checked Toyota quit LeMans because of their entry into Formula1.....LIE

Ferrari Enzo : ten or twelve cylinders last time I checked the Enzo had 12 cylinders for the engine, but not only 8, and a production of at least 25,You need to look at Le Mans rules, then review alot to be classified as a GTS or GT maybe more... LIE

Nissan changed its mind about the 350 Z, and will homologate if only for JGTC

Courage : a roofed prototype for 2004 in LMP 900 (LMP1 should we say now) ; and a new shape for the C65

Audi : roofed prototype for 2004, with a diesel in 2005 LIE, Link me where you have seen this.

GTS : Lambo Gallardo expected in GTS for 2004The Gallerdo would be in GT class IF it was in LeMans.

Maserati : 2004 confirmed

Porsche : back in LMP1 with a roofed prototype, with the V10 5.7 liters engine LIE!

Diesel : Ricardo I know alot of Ricardo Racers, whos this Ricardo is working on it with a V10 Judd basis LIE

Norma : M20 for a LMP2 (ex 675) car

Cobra : a Shelby Cobra Daytona replica in GT for 2004 ! LIE, If this was true, we would see it in the Grand Am

GLV Racing : new prototype for Giovanni Lavaggi at LM (could be an entry for the November race at LM !) Sorry, no he wasn't! LIE!

Oreca : back with the Viper SRT-10 I think this is true, Ive heard alot of rumors about this.

I figured this is a lie. Audi ain't running factory next year. And He referred the Porsche as a,"LMP1". That was a class back in 1999. And why in the world would Mr.Shelby run a Daytona in GT, the car has to have over 5,000 cars to be sold or something like that.

If Porsche decided to run the Carrera GT, it would be in the GTS class. Then the Lambo Gallerdo would be in GT class. And I heard that Nismo will run a JGTC spec 350Z, but thats what I heard, im not saying its true.

I want you to link everyone where you have found this info. Please do, So we know what your talking about.
Im sorry if this offended you. Please do not take this personally.

Right I got completly lost with the post above party for GT4. But whoever said that the Ricardo doing a diesel is a lie I'm gonna call a complete idiot, because they obviously seem to think they know everything. Ricardo are developing a racing V10 Diesel, and no joke the worshop they're doing it in is at the end of my road . Whether they are ever gonna be confident enough that it's good enough for Le Mans and let a team use it is another thing. Christ I even applied for work experiance there but didn't in the end, because I got gladua fever a week before.

Anyway slightly moving on. It's been anouced that Aston Martin are going to make a come back to Le Mans for 2005. They're going to team up with Prodrive (who ran the GTS class 550 Maranello's in this years Le Mans). Here's where I read it http://www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=25379&s=15 :D .
The link my not work as you need to be a member of autosport. BTW membership is free if you wabt to join and means you can access all the areas on the sight.

I do expect that TVR will be back at Le Mans. Last year neither of the cars finished (one crashed, one had a diff failiure from a brought-in component) but they had to run 5% air restrictors because the T440 wasn't in production then, but 1300 TVRs travelled down to Le Mans and there were 80,000 English TVR supporters down there.
But I can guarantee that they will enter.
