Now if the Panoz boys wanted to stay in the big leauges, why not make a second-generation of their Esperante GT1 (as seen in Gran Turismo 3 for a "cheap" 2,000,000 Cr). And I am not talking about that glorified Esperante that I seen with GT1 badging out now, I mean something similar to the aerodynamic, wide-bodied, sexy at speed, candy to the eyes, a demon to race... yeah, you know what I mean. And if I'm not mistaken, they have to make at least a homologated copy of the race car (except LMPs). Panoz needs to bring back their Front/Rear Esperante GT1 from the late 1990s. And what the heck... make a second-generation GT1 with hybrid power (can you recall the Panoz Q9? It was purple with little lightning streaks on the sides.)

Anywayz, just for you John, I found out more information about the comeback that the Panoz GT1 did this year at the Le Mans 1000km race. It raced in GTP class (so it didn't go up against any other cars in its class). I think Berreta was driving it and he managed in to put it 4th over all in qualifying (4 seconds off of the pace of the Team Goh Audi), just behind the Lister LMP. It wasn't doing too badly in the race as well, apprantly, until it had cam shaft failure or something. Anywayz here's a pic of the GT1's last outing in full anger.

Actually the Panoz Esperante GT1 had a lot of trouble at the LeMans 1000km, they spun it numerous times and ended up in the gravel trap at least once.

In other news, Team Elite will be entering a Lotus Elise GT1 (more then likely a former FIAGT car) into the LMP1 class for Sebring and other races of the 2004 ALMS season in preperation for a two-car team in 2005 and entry to LeMans itself.

Well, here is the ALMS roster so far. Notice the TVR GT team, it's an all woman race team. Let's hope they put on their makeup before the race, and not during. :D

I do not see either the Lotus or the Panoz GT1 cars listed. Were did you guys hear this news?

That's last year's list. Notice the Bentleys, which we know aren't returning, neither is the Olive Garden Ferrari, or Joest Audi, or any of the Panozes, etc...

And no one said the Panoz Esperante GTR1 would be running ALMS, the LeMans 1000km was it's last race ever.

No, this is the 2004 ALMS roster. Notice the TVR, Saleen, Lamborghini, etc...

Bentley is not racing in the French 24 hour Le Mans, but they said they will race in America. Panoz, according to their web site, will be in the 2004 ALMS, plus many articles at www.americanlemans.com have them racing this year.

Where did you hear all this information? Post some links, along with the Lotus link I asked for earlier please.

Nope, sorry, that list is last year's. The TVR's are on the 2003 list because they ran at Sebring, the Lamborghini GT-R is from Vici Racing (not Reiter Engineering), which was going to attempt Sebring but dropped out. And we already knew Saleens were going to run this year.

You might also notice that the list doesn't say anywhere on it '2004'.

Then what about the Pagani, Spyker and the BMW M3? Were they in one race only, too? Why would www.americanlemans.com hold on to the old roster for so long, with the Saleens listed that didn't even race in the series in 2003?

And where are those links? :P

EDIT: OK, I just went to www.spykercars.nl and they listed they were at Sebring 12 hours in 2003, so you can take that off my list. I guess the Pagani Zonda was at Sebring, but not the regular season too?

The Spyker only raced at Sebring, as did the Pagani (it only lasted a handful of laps), and the Alegra M3 only ran a few races in 2003. The Saleens also ran a handful of races as well (but did very poorly due to their weight penalty).

And they haven't updated the list because they themselves don't even know exactly who is going to be entering in the season.

The list is old, face it.

Mah, you beat me to my punch. Yes, it looks like I must call Uncle. Poop. I so wanted this to be the real list. Poop.

Elite where did you hear that news?!?!? How creadible is it?!?!? It did well in GT racing for the single year it ran in the world GT championship (considering it had a crap driver line-up). Any more picks??!?!? This better not be a gag otherwise you're dead!!! :P . That's phenominal, I'm gonna keep my eye out for that. Lotus back in GT racing.... ooo yes!!!

Hmm... sounds interesting. That elise is nice too... I'd like it better in all black like that 1:18 model they used to have that you can't get any more. Err... :banghead:

Solid Lifters, I don't mean to do this, but that looks almost exactly like the 2003 Sebring Entry list. I swear it does, cause that is in the list order in the program I got, exactly.

Yeah, I gave in on post #71. The car list look new because a lot of the cars I saw on it I didn't see race in the 2003 season. It's that damn Sebring race. I didn't see it, so I didn't get to watch most of the cars on that list race, so that threw me.

I don't like the idea of cars just wanting to race in the Sebring race and not the whole season. It doesn't seem realistic that all those cars ran into problems right after that race, and then decided not to race for the rest of the season.

I often go the the Speed Channel web site, but you wont find it there. I didn't see it there today or yesterday. But, I saw it here.

Cheers Solid 👍 :)

The 359: From previous experiance I haven't found the speed channel to be the best source for my motorsport news  . I did see the logo in the bottom and went there and couldn't find an article on the elise.

The Lotus has been confirmed by at least 3 other motorsports news sites I go to. Besides, it's not like it is a rumor, the team themselves confirmed it.

And teams run Sebring only because it is the only race that is similar to LeMans, none of the other ALMS races even get near to 12/24 hours other then Petit LeMans, which is AFTER LeMans and therefore wouldn't help with testing.

I remember when the big teams all used to enter the Daytona 24hr for a kind of test and pre race thingy for the LeMans 24 hours. But it seems none of the major players for LE MAns enter it now, well not like they use to.

Me and my dad were talking about the old days at the daytona 24Hours. When the GTP cars donated the race. I wish today, there where Audi R8's, Corvette's, Ferrari 550's, and other high perfomance cars. It would be a great race.
