Honda says (courtesy of Autoweek): "The 2006 Civic Si coupe will be the most powerful, fastest and fun-to-drive Si we've ever put on the street, and the Civic Si concept sets the direction in terms of styling, package and performance." Also, the concept is said to be "90% production".

I say: Finally an Si I can covet. Much better than the old short-wheelbase hatch, and better looking too. I'd like to see the concept's LSD make it to production.

Not bad looking. We need some specs though, I'd like to know how much hp it's engine is going to put out.

ESTIMATED PRICE: about $20,000
BASE POWERTRAIN: 200 hp I4; fwd, six speed manual

(I would assume it is the RSX transmission/engine)

Not bad looking at all. Something the current Civic is not Distinctive hope a hybrid performance centered model comes out to.

200hp with a 6 speed manual sounds great! Now, if only Honda would bring the 250hp Type-R to North America...

I love it!(the car, not Ghosts' lunch on the floor). It could use little more personality, but it is very clean looking design. If they can keep the price tag at $20,000, that'll be a bargain. I wish those Si's came in different body styles though, I'd love an 4 or 5 door model.........

Certainly better looking than this Si, don't you say though?

This, however, is the best looking recent Si.

At least the wagonback isn't a victim of the "futurize" fad. Although it is butt ugly.

The second one is a good looking car, though. If Honda was smart, they'd make an improved version of that body style, and not some 2032 wannabe New Beetle fell on top of an Acura looking hunk of crap.

It looks like its on an identity crisis... Mixing an Accordish, Civicish, and an Acura front theme and all... I need to see one without the carbon hood though...

Driftster
That looks like Honda's rendition of the Cobalt, or maybe it's just me.

I see no similarities besides both being in the same category... Besides like I said on some other thread... The Cobalt looks similar to a current gen Civic... Its probably just a styling coincidence...

If they could make it RWD... then I would be interested...

Otherwise, its just copying the future trend Toyota and stuff started to setup... silly Honda...

Maybe Honda's getting tired of the "all show, no go" talk, so they decided to put this bad boy out. America may not get a Type R of any kind, but at least this time, the most powerful Civic model isn't the hatchback. Your machine is pretty fast if it has 200 or more hp. It's just a concept, but I'm sure the styling will be pretty clean as long as it doesn't look too much like Acuras. And you already know that the aftermarket is going to go insane for this machine.

I think when it comes out, the Honda fans will be even more proud to bear the statement: "Powered by Honda." And in this case, 200hp of Honda power. Unless an American equivalent of Tommy Kaira has any ideas for this Civic to make it much better than stock and then sell it to the public, this car will likely rock American streets in the American sport compact segment. Its only challengers would be the Chevrolet Cobalt, of course the Focus from Ford, and the biggest dog to take down, the Dodge Neon SRT-4.

Until I read some of the other posts, I'm interested in seeing how the 250hp Civic Type-R will be. Honda fans, can you dig a Type-R finally available in America? I can imagine the Honda fans will really dig this Type-R deal, even down here in Houston. That picture in Post #21... is that a conceptual drawing for reviving the CRX? If so, it looks pretty nice.

How successful do you think this Civic will be in say... 2 or 3 years past its release?
