That's what made cars like the E-type such a classic, the fact that it was so individual and nothing else like it was on the market.
...

There were so many E-Type lookalikes that I don't even know where to start naming.

IMO there was no other car you could confuse as an E-Type, the E-Type was the best looking as well.

For starters

Ferrari 365, 330 from the late 60s
TVRs from that era
AC Greyhound, kinda
Intermeccanica Apollo, '63
Triumph GT6

There are many British cars from that time period that had E-Type wannabes.

The Guess that car thread has a handful

Bear in mid what I said, IMO I don't think any cars could be confused with a Jaguar E-Type, not that theres no similarly styled cars.

A Ferrari 330

does't look like it could be mistaken for an E-Type to me.
Ann AC Greyhound

quite clearly not an E-Type
An early TVR

quite clearly not an E-Type.
An Intermeccanica Apollo

Probably the closest here but still not as beautifl as an E-Type, so it shouldn't be confused with one.
A Triumoh GT6

again, quite clearly not an E-Type.

Point proven. Although, notice the headlight placement/design, crease down the middle of the hood, the c-pillars and the chrome bumpers leading all the way around on almost all of the ones shown.

I am almost certain that I remember a couple models that looked a lot more similar.

1969 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2. Chop off the back and you have an E-Type. Almost.

I'll say both our points are right, yes there are plenty of cars that use the same kind of style as the E-Type, but none of them are as nice and recognisable as the E-Type, well IMO at least ;).

As I mentioned over at Giles' place, I got to see this beauty about a mile from my house. :) (And no, I don't live near Detroit.) If you want to know the rest, click the link, because I can't be bothered to go over the story again.

My guess is that this will be the next XK. IMO, this is beautiful. Ian Callum has done it again!👍

My guess is that it will be the next in a long chapter of fabulous Jag concepts that never make it into production.

Eww...

Look ma! A Jaguar Taurus!

Seriously looks to Ford to me, whatever happened to that 2-door XJ photoshop? That was a sexy car.

Wow .. that looks awesome. I've found my new desktop now :).

edit:

And I saw the Ford GT on campus at Virginia Tech while it was still preproduction. So its entirely possible.

It's still a concept car, just because it works that doesn't change anything. It's an insight into what the next XK will look like nothing more, it will not be going into production.

 Calm down man! I was being sarctistic!

Exactly one. I know, because the lady told me when it was parked near my house. It doesn't have an engine or anything that really works, except the nav screen was on when I saw it.

Did he say anything about if they were gonna use similar stlying for the new XK and if they were even going to produce it (even though they won't as its a concept).

I meant at the time it was put into production there was nothing else like it. Of course if somethings a big success or hit everyones gonna copy and make there own like it, I just meant when they came out with the design there was nothing else around.

A Jaguar spokesman said the concept was a preview of the next XK8 and XK-R and that when you see the new XK you will see a resemblence.

Apparently ther'll be 500hp+ GT1 GT2 and GT3 editions of the next XK.

GIf you mean race cars then there shouldn't be since at least two of thoes classes no longer exist. LM900 is the highest class then LM675 then GTS then GTO and I don't know what comes after that in GT racing now.

Nope, different versions of the road cars. Like Porsche GT2 and GT3. Jaguar are doing the same.

They've changed it back to GT1 (was GTS) and GT2 (was GTO) now thank god! Makes it a lot simpler.

Ah thanks for the info, sounds promosing and good :). 👍

Have they, do you have a link on this? GTS though was not equal to the GT1 class, GTS cars are heavier and less powerfull and needs more road cars for holomogation.

Does sound promising though.
