2006 Porsche 911 GT3

Porsche Cars GB has re-affirmed its long-term commitment to British motorsport by unveiling the car that will be used in the Carrera Cup GB for at least the next three years.
The all-new 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) will be introduced in the 2006 Carrera Cup and continue for 2007 and 2008 in a new three-year programme. The existing model (Type 996) has been used in the Carrera Cup GB since the championship was introduced in 2003.
The new model was officially unveiled at a reception at Porsche Cars Reading on the evening of Saturday 30 April.
Since it first supported the British Touring Car Championship in 2003, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB has become firmly established as the fastest single marque racing series on the UK’s premier national motorsport calendar. The combination of evocative sports coupe styling and characteristic rear-engine design makes the Porsche 911 a favourite for drivers seeking a precisely engineered, powerful race car, and one that is immediately recognisable by spectators and sponsors alike.
The next evolution of the Carrera Cup GB will build on this proven reputation and continue to offer competitors the same high level of support from Porsche Cars GB. An extensive prize fund, excellent technical support, race centre hospitality, championship management, TV coverage and media services will all continue to underpin the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

Same paint, same softbox and same general look as the 996 GT3 RSR. Gotta love it!

It looks like a 1/10 lexan RC car body, that's how seamless and extravagant the outside is. The empty inside also helps...

Slick Rick
Taa daa!

(i think thats it anyway, theres sooooo many different versions! :dunce: )
Sorry, not the right version. That's a 911 Carerra 4S, which is an all wheel drive version of the 911 Carerra S. The RS is a hopped up GT3, which should appear at some point in the next year or so.

Ricers take note: This is the exhaust size Porsche deem necessary for a 3.6ltr, 400bhp race car.

Living in Germany i presume your strict regulations mean 'rice' is rarely seen on your roads?

Unfortunatly here in England, you can pretty much do anything to a car and it still be legal

I saw these cars race at the USGP last week. Awesome cars, and they had an awesome tight race! Much better than the GP itself.

BTW, these cars are very quiet for race cars.

riced cars are a rare sight indeed in germany. i've been to london recently and one of the first things i saw was a car with neon under it...

on the other hand, people who like to tune their cars properly have to visit the TÜV (something like the MOT i think) all the time and carry papers as thick as phonebooks around with them all the time, were every modification is listed. so it has not only advantages.

True, but at least, you would know that every little mod that you have on that car actually works and serves a function.Driving at high speeds on the autobahn, you want to be sure that whatever you have on the car works, and not just trash slaped on your car. That might harm you or the other drivers on the road.Rules are there to stop morons from acting as such :sly:

I got to see the 997 Supercup cars race at the USGP last week. The lap times dropped by about 5-8 seconds from the 996 version. They sound SO nice too, much nicer than I remember the 996 supercup cars.

The 997 has really grown on me since it first came out. I'm utterly in love with the thing now.
