Yeah, right now, its really balanced but, as many groups have noted, it still feels ancient. Making it optional would be nice but remember, this world is driven by money and profits. If its not profitable then Ford wont do it.

Even if it was optional, it would cost too much to make the car adaptable to accept both forms, and to have two lines running to build IRS and LRA models...

It is more of a common sense thing than anything else... And if it costs too much for Ford, that means it passes off to the consumer...

Do you like paying $27K for a nicely equiped GT? Add the IRS to the tab and the price will easily go upwards of $30K for the same options... Differences in performance? Minimal at best, why bother?

See, if Ford were really smart, they would make at least a GT-350R with a IRS, for track days and whatnot.

If you took a normal GT, gave it a slight power bump, deleted a few options, put in an IRS and better suspension tuning, it wouldn't jack the starting price too far past $30.

Mach 1, Bullitt, those were cool when there wasn't a GT500 around, now we need a GT-350/GT-350R to complete the effect, and for people like me, who would NEVER EVER even halfway consider a 4000 lb GT500.

Even as a guy who hates Ford (but respects them), I would buy a Cobra... I don't care if it has a LRA, weighs 4000lbs, etc. It will still fly, be fun to drive, and have that sound/look combo that screams "Badass!"

Only problem is that there are going to be a s-load of guys who drive these cars who are either:
- a-holes
- rappers who put HUGE wheels on them
- more a-holes
- other wanabe badass guys

Pretty much. Ford fans tend to be a-holes, and I know a few rappers are going to ruin the otherwise awesome car with 30" wheels and a "blastin'" stero...

Im sure Im an a-hole too then :ouch: I love both GM and Ford though.

The current generation of Mustangs actually aren't slouches in turns anymore, so this may at least be able to keep a Z06 in sight on the track. Exactly how closely in sight, however, I can't say.

Oh, it can keep up with those other performance cars out there, but it will never silence critics. They will continue to complain about Mustang having LRA when Hau-Thai Tang made it clear that they kept it for a reason. The Brit magazine "Car" especially ticks me off, they keep ignoring that fact and continue saying Mustangs are low-tech and ancient.

Yeah, and they also enjoy ripping on the Corvette's pushrod engine and leaf springs.

...Weren't overhead cams actually around FIRST?

Im pretty sure it was.

I mean, that magazine picks on everything American - and leaves out European shorcomings. Extermely biased, I must say.

You cant argue against technology that works, produces results similar to that of the high-tech crap, and is cheaper to buy... But, progress is progress, and apparently there are supposed to be "standards" in the industry.
