Change it too the leaping Jag and you've got a deal......camaaaaaaaan - you know you want to :sly: j/k

Oh I definitely thought about it.

It isn't, but there'd be more legal implications, so I reckon people focus on the calendar anf get it out of the way. Maybe afterwards, someone could make a thread with the legal junk and what to de etc, but I think we have to get crackin' with the calendar first 👍.

Yes of course. It's something to think about after. After the calendar is done (which is time limited, have to get it out before the new year...) - it's something that could be done all year to support the community and charity.

We'll agree to disagree then I think... I seem to be the only one who has an issue with it so I'll keep quiet.

I'm sorry.

But I honestly think there'll be less impact when you use it. 👍

You're not the only one who has concerns. I have some. But this is the very first year we are doing this. And this seems to be what people want. I don't mind detail shots. It's unique. It's something that's not usually found in other car calendars. Having said that, I apologize as well. I don't want anyone to feel like we're just ignoring their input - because we value your participation and contributions a great deal. Getting consensus is very difficult...

Absolutely correct, redbubble account holder's name is visible on the calendar. Best thing to do is make an account called GTPlanet and all images have the actual photographer’s real names as the image title. If a GTP staff member does not want to create a new account I'll happily do it and discuss with Jordan about having all proceeds sent direct to him.

I just made my redbubble account so let me know what I have to do and it's done 👍

Erm....did you call yourself GTPlanet? :P

Actually - one thing you can do: Make a calendar, don't worry - it can be 12 pages of the same shot - and go to the checkout to buy one and report back with the shipping costs if you could 👍.

This would help up work out where they ship from.

You can delete the calendar after that....or just publish it with the option of not showing anyone else.

This might be relevant for us:

Hi,

Everyone likes free shipping. It seems to be a thing with the Internet … we’ve just come to expect that shipping doesn’t cost any money. I wish this were the case in real life … but that last time I tried to convince our friendly courier company to give their service away for nothing I was met with a rather incredulous response. It was worth a shot …

Over the last day I’ve been thinking about how we can introduce a better free shipping deal with calendars. At the moment you need to buy 10 calendars to secure free shipping … and 10 is quite a lot.

So we’ve crunched the numbers and from tomorrow we’re going to increase the base price of calendars by USD 1.9 (AUD 2.0, GBP 1.0, EUR 1.3, CAD 1.9) and introduce free shipping for an order of 3 or more calendars. This brings free shipping well within the reach of every calendar buyer so that those people who are particularly sensitive to shipping charges can avoid them. It also encourages larger order sizes – which we think will sell more calendars.

The average calendar order is just a bit under 3 calendars. And for an order of 3 calendars this change actually means that there’s no change to the ultimate price. Here’s an example (3 calendars bought in USD and shipped to the US):

* Old pricing: US$57 base price + US$5.68 for shipping and handling = $US62.68
* New pricing: US$62.70 + US$0 for shipping and handling = $US62.70

When you work out all of the details of this change it means that an order of 1 or 2 calendars will be slightly more expensive, an order of 3 is essentially the same and orders of 4 to 10 calendars are cheaper. But importantly we’ll be encouraging larger order sizes and making free shipping much more accessible.

We’re also seeing quite a few folks place bulk orders of calendars – for people interested in placing an order of 20 or more calendars please drop us a line as we’ve been working out bulk rates with folks on a case by case basis.

I know that any change to pricing is a bit like a red rag to the bull – so before anyone ‘charges off’ here are a few guiding principals with RedBubble:

- We don’t ever want to be the cheapest – we pride ourselves on quality products and quality costs more.
- The average margin earned by an artist on RedBubble is twice the margin made by RedBubble. Just as we don’t want to talk you out of your margin – we ask that the members of RedBubble respect our position – we are in this together.

The change will come into effect from 10 am Melbourne time on Friday (3 pm San Francisco time on Thursday and 0:00 am London time on Friday).

Ciao,

Peter

Thought this might be useful. :)

No I didn't, but it's fun anyway, I'll use it a lot.

I made a calendar and the base price is $20.90 and then you can markup the price to whatever you want. It doesn't give me any shipping cost but I think Speedster502 has that covered.

I wonder if it applies to three different calendars... I don't know, I find it a bit unclear. But if it works for three different, all the more reason to buy some...

I actually made one too, where I'll eventually use it to market my own work. ^^ I should check the price - but I bet it would be similar to the US and AUS figures.

Question to anyone else in the UK:

What prices are you selecting, because I cannot decide at the moment.

Its, a number. Pick the highest price that YOU would pay for it. Not what everyone else is and you choosing something based off that. I want to know how much YOU'D pay for it. 👍

Here's my shot.

XK140500.jpg

I'd pay anything up to $35AU for it.

On another note (and I am not suggesting people should do this, as we need to get a wriggle on) I got some A4 prints from Hardly Normal today of the Porker, the Fezza and the Jag wheel (the shots from my poll of 3) and I can say that when printed, the Jag wheel takes the cake. The blue gradient on the Porsches bonnet was a bit messed up on the printer....with some weird noise and more lines of colour instead of blurring gradient, and the Ferrari, while sharp, wasn't as sharp as could be.

The Jag shot on the other hand looked faultless, I really couldn't pick out a bad thing with the printing - it looked really sharp and very dramatic as a physical entity....so I have reason to believe it would look good on the calendar.

I think it's pretty much been decided that $27 AUS is pretty much good. That is around 15 GBP and 25 USD. I think that accomodates everyone...

We do need to get a move on. It needs to be finished in the next week and a half. I'm perfectly fine with the Jag shot. ^^

Or in other words, just supply the original, full-size image for simplicity's sake.

👍

I noticed a few people who have been confirmed to have PMed GilesGuthrie havne't posted what's required in the thread. Ok, ok, I won't have a winge about the pricing, but we can't do a poll for the front cover if we don't know/have the shots that are in the runnning for it.

Could people please put up the 500px res shots here? Otherwise I think we'll have a poll for the people that have put up the shots.

...and I'm more than happy with the discussed prices.

Cheers. 👍

Now - I'm giving two days for remaining people to post their photos in here before starting the cover shot poll without them.

Not really. The image should be submitted with the long edge at the maximum resolution, with the final step prior to JPG export being that of sharpening. If a sharpened image is resized, it can cause wierdness.

Just a question here, and feel free to flame me if it's been answered asked/answered/covered already. But as a designer there's something I don't see you guys asking...

Are you sending the pics at 300dpi?

EDIT: mmm doesn't say in the link provided by Giles... and they say they prefer RGB... odd.

Carry on.-

Pixel size overrules DPI Tom. And most commercial printers prefer sRGB instead of other colour spaces, mainly because most photographers cannot/do not change their shooting colour space.

Ah alright... I live in a 3rd world country, so they still need stuff in CMYK at 300dpi, regardless of pixel size.

Just a friendly follow up to people to make sure you get your images in up in here for the cover poll as there isn’t a lot of time left to complete the calendar now if you guys want to make sure you have a funky GTP calendar under the Christmas tree this year. Order cut off dates for delivery before Christmas are as follows:

United States of America – 13th of December

United Kingdom – 13th of December

Australia – 17th of December

Europe & Canada – 11th of December

Rest of the World 9th of December

Cheers Syntax - well I put the call out for people to post their shots here so I can make a poll, but it seems to no avail, so I might just put up a poll of the ones here lol.

oh I thought you guys were talking about a cover shot poll. I have my final up, I just misread :). Or am I just confused.

I thought there were more, but only Moglet and TVR&Ferrari_Fan have not posted theirs here, so I just reminded them.

Moar issues.

Ok, price I think we're sort of good on but I need input on some more things, revolvong around one thing.

Someone has to make a Redbubble account under the name GTPlanet (or something) to sell the calanders from. This person also needs to be the one that recieves the largest sized images from everyone.

Some people (like me) don't have the extended version of photobucket accounts - which mean they are limited to how big the biggest upload they put up is, so some people (like me) will have to sent the shots as a file via a personal email address.

So I need some volunteers for that. I can't do it myself. Firstly because I don't know how many redbubble accounts one person can have, but also because I'm going away on the 10th and won't be back to way after the deadine for postage as Syntax kindly and helpfully put up.

So.....takers? :dopey:

I think if we use imageshack we can upload any size picture and post a thumbnail of it. If people have to.

I would not recommend Imageshack. It leaves everyone’s shots open to theft and also there would then be no reason for people to purchase the GTP calendar if they can make their own with our shots. I would suggest something a little more secure.

Either emailing, FTP or Yousendit the images to the person who creates the GTP account on redbubble.

Also I think a GTP staff member should really be the one to setup the account (ie. Giles, Scaff or Jordan) however I am happy to do so if need be.
