Here's my thoughts on what the performance limits could possibly be set to:

600 HP

Audi R8 '01: Disallowed

Audi R8 '05: 10kg ballast

Bentley Speed 8: 50kg Ballast

Toyota GT-One: 590hp

All others only adhere to 600 HP.

I've been racing LMP's with BermudaKid, Paginas, Razor70 and others in GT5 for almost a year now, and that's my best estimates of what I think would make for the most fair regulations.

A couple tips:

- Don't believe you are allowed to have that website URL in the thread title
- Change the yellow font. Really hard to read.

Good luck.

Well, we only need three cars to be even, right?

I wouldn't miss this for the world. Look out for me in the GT-One. 👍

Whoa whoa whoa, before we go all bananas over HP regs and Weight ... we should get everything else set first.

also 💡 💡 💡 dea. To keep this 100% even - Since each series shows up with 5 drivers. Each team should have the same cars. Soooo in the off chance say 1 car was better than the rest.... each team will have 1 of those.

Ahhhhhhh, I didn't think of that. 💡
So each team gets say the bentley, r8, Peugeot, and Mazda or something like that?
That's a really good idea!
And do we want to do four, or five drivers?
I liked the idea of four drivers so we could have four people livestreaming the race.

I think 5 is better personally Gatrs, so that as many guys as possible get to race.

One R8, Speed 8, GT One, 787b and 908 seems like probably the best 5.

But then again, if people in different leagues have different cars they like to race, shouldn't they be allowed to drive what they're used to?

Yea my evil genius at work .. lol  It would be 100% fair and test our drivers on an even playing field

Any car combo would work. a Mix, duplicates. 3 & 2............. Speed 8, R8 , 787b , 908 , and for an extra bonus throw an R10 in the mix just because no one really likes it. ( Like a challenge which series has a driver who can best adapt to a horrible car  )

I think 5 would be more exciting, but if the race was streamed for all of GT5 to watch by 4 spectators, that would be sick! ! ! ! !

Also how long is 200 miles in time? imho i dont think the race should be between 1.25 - 1.75 hours because we all know GT5 on any given day the connection can be trash and we could have a lot of disconnects.

I believe 200 miles is a little more than two hours.
What about the 24 laps of Le Mans? Or is that too short?

My vote would be for four people on track from each team, but I understand why people would feel otherwise.
I just think that if we had four people streaming the race, it would be awesome. Then we could probably get Jordan involved.

You also have one person from each team that can relay information to the drivers. Like split times, when they should pit, etc. That would promote teamwork as well.

around 26 Laps sounds good, and a full length pace lap. :D

im really excited about this

Do you guys think that we can do this over Christmas break? Sometime in that window?

24 laps of le mans is brilliant, yea let's go with that. In our league we have teams (like nascar) for that strategy stuff, no need to throw in the crew chief guy, let it be a racing spot, we can do it and drive. my league owner can make a highlight video and i will do photography. 5 guys from each league. our league guys only own either the 787B or Speed8 , so we don't want to spend millions of credits just for one race. i think the PP at 700 is fair. what do you guys think?

ALSO: gogatr and bermudakid, invite your drivers, list their PSNs and Cars here, our league claims the Mazda 787B and Bentley Speed8 if we are going with that different car per team thing, i honestly don't care, but if you guys agree to it then we can do it

YES! that is when i want to do it

A pace lap at Le Mans? we would be wasting hours there itself, i think 24 laps is a good idea, you guys want to add cautions for wreckage? not full pace laps, just when the crashers get caught back up, and the drivers that pitted catch up, the leader counts us down to the green. also, i think we should have a qual session, i will monitor and set qual room times after we set the race date. 1 lap per driver + 1 warmup, i will record times and we will manually switch the grid on race night. Penalties for cut course during quals will result in an addition of 30 seconds to qual time, a penalty is counted when 3 or more wheels are of the racing surface which includes rumble strips, so if you have 2 tires off and 2 on the rumble strip, you're good. agreed?

Hmmm... I would prefer to not have a caution system like that, it could become a problem in several different ways.

As to the rest, sounds alright I suppose.

A few suggestions from myself:

  • A pace lap at Le Mans is not really that long at all and has always been fine by the GTP Le Mans Prototype Series; it is also the traditional start to the event
  • Caution flags are a kind of "get out of jail free card" for driver error, and I think that the quality of drivers in this kind of event merits a serious rules set that skips this kind of thing. A caution system can also become very convoluted and takes up server slots for race stewards to manage the whole thing.
  • 4 drivers from each series would leave 4 open slots in the room, 1 race broadcaster to show the event live on UStream and 3 crew chiefs (1 for each of the participating series)
  • Crew chiefs: one from each series in the room, monitoring the four drivers and feeding critical information to them via a Skype call with his drivers. Skype is the most widely-available VOIP application and works on the widest amount of platforms (PSN mics are unreliable and can be heard by all drivers in the room, whereas Skype can be turned on for the race on a smartphone next to the driver for voice comms)

Alright if the majority doesn't like cautions then we will disregard them, what about you other guys?

Ok this is agreed upon: full pace lap to begin race, no cautions during race, I'd still rather have 5 drivers from each, everybody I invited from my league just wants to race, and not everyone has skype and a smartphone, but nice input there man. I will update details tomorrow to summarize this discussion, thanks guys

yea a full pace takes 6 -8 mins at le mans( depends on speed) , its a good time to get your head in the game & get hyped up .

I'm guessing the race would be sometime in January?... hopefully a Sunday to deal with drunk drivers, lol.

speed said he wanted this to take place sometime over christmas break.

EDIT:

ALSO you have to be careful with the PP, the system doesnt make the cars as even as the numbers would say @ the same PP
but , if each team has the same set cars ........... i guess it would be ok
