Guys,

First off this is my first post and I just wanted to say hello to everyone on the board.

Long story short I have been working on a custom fabbed triple mount set-up for GT5. Ordered the monitors, the extra PS3's and discs, did all the fabrication work to build a mount that attaches directly to my Obutto.....I have close to $2500 invested in the new rig Im building (including Club sport pedals, a CSR Elite wheel on order, multiple transducers and a separate power amp) and weeks later I finally get everything set-up for a "bench test" and my favorite car on my favorite track is literally 20 MPH slower....I liken the disappointment to the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars when it couldn't make the jump to lightspeed....LOL (the "old" and best Star Wars IMO)

Anyway, so in getting everything all set up to run the triple screen set-up I upgraded from my older firmware/version 2.05 to the latest 2.10 to ensure everything would work properly (and it does btw.....awesome upgrade for anyone thats serious about their rig and this game....the 3X screen set-up really makes the experience much more complete....feels close to being there.....LOL).

Anyway....back to the title of this thread and the problem at hand. I have whittled my best times on the Nurburgring down in the 3:16 - 3:17 range (3:16.5 is my fastest "clean run") and the car with the same set-up on the new triple screen goodness is about 20 MPH slower on the two parts of the track you get to stretch her legs out....slower everywhere obviously.....feels like its down 150 horsepower.

What gives? Any of you guys experience this? All the settings are the same. I even backed way off the downforce and that split the gap in half yielding a car that was about 10 MPH slower but the car is alot looser in the twisties as you would expect with that much less downforce.

Half the reason I did all the upgrades is to experience this car on this track and continue to whittle my times (and better enjoy it) by improving the rig and the wheel/pedals but Im really bummed the car feels like a slug compared to installing the latest firmware.

Amy help or advice would be appreciated....

I may upload a few pics of the new rig project I have in the works (its still unfinished) and include them in this post (with a screen shot of my X1 lap times so you guys know Im not full of crap....LOL).

I have to start mounting all the transducers now as well (A pair of Buttkicker LFE's and a pair of Clark's driven by a Behringer A500 power amp)....grind and clean up some of the welds....lots of finish work left but seeing the 3X screen operational is enough motivation to insure I invest the time necessary to complete everything....I may even power coat the monitor mount frame I built.

BTW, I used three AOC 27" IPS monitors I got at Best Buy....super thin bezel that is ideal for a triple screen set-up.....amazing picture, and a steal at $299 each. I researched this to death btw....and if your tight on space I saw a very thin bezel 23" Dell at Best Buy that was $250 ish.....still plenty of screen when you have three of them

I also feel the need to throw a shout out to Mr Latte who's triple screen thread pushed me over the fence on my decision to embark on this project and who's thread was helpful in some of the tweaking and set-up when I got the monitors up and running.

If you have the cash to blow (and the room for this....a 5 foot wide footprint easily), it adds alot to the game.....GO FOR IT

Thanks,
Tony

Hey Tony.
Well never really notice beacause I have been using the normal X2010 now since i got it, but have you checked your oil. After buying a car always give it an oil change even on the normal dealership. The oil on your car later, slowly deplete's and lowers your BHP (Same happened with my epson nsx). If that happens then oil change it, you might even get more BHP then what you did before (My epson now has 719bhp thanks to it).
Hope this helps.

I upgraded from my older firmware/version 2.05 to the latest 2.10

There was a big update that fixed some of the issues with downforce. You now get more realistic drag from high downforce, so cars like the X1 are now slower in a straight line.

Thanks for the info....

Was there like a major uproar over this at all at the time it happened? For me after just investing major time and money in a new rig it couldn't have been worse timing but even for the guys running on what they had if they were trying to beat their personal bests to upgrade to a new firmware and find your vehicle notably slower is a real bummer to say the least.

While still fast the car just feels slow by comparison.....and I understand it was/is a global change effecting everything but it just seems counter intuitive to business and happy customers. Hell where is the 2012 X1 with the extra 150 HP it needs to combat the aero losses!

While I appreciate knowing what happened but the answer bums me out even more because essentially it leaves me SOL in continuing to advance and push the envelope a little further with the car the way I lived with it the past year or so. I can obviously start whittling my times down with the new car circa 2.10 firmware but its just not that exciting going slower and truthfully after handling the car at the insane pace it was (like staying on top of a bucking bronco for 3a+ minutes), it just feels too sano with the new physics/aerodynamics.

I need to post a video of my 3:16 run.....its fun to watch the replay its so out of control.....LOL

Guess I will have my fingers crossed waiting for the game to offer the newer more powerful X1

Big sigh.....
