Stunned by Rossi's time, seriously disappointed. I just hope he gets a good start, I imagine his race pace being much better than 7th.

He got caught in traffic, which hindered his lap-time.

During 20mn... He was never really at the top during all Q2.

It was on his last run, which is where almost everyone improved their lap-times.

Oh maybe but honestly he never really had the pace. Which is a bit scary for the race. I guess we'll see. I really hope Rossi gonna be able to score a podium at least.

He went from a 56.1 to a 55.7 in Q2. Everybody else improved by more, a lot more. It was nothing short of Herculean from Lorenzo so its not so bad from Rossi's point of view.

Excellent debut for Marquez. Beat your experienced team mate and dice with the Doctor. I wish he'd got past Pedrosa sooner. It seemed like he was being held up for quite a while. Still, 3rd place is a great showing.

Easy win for the world champ, but it's nice to see Rossi back on a good bike. He's still got what it takes. 👍

Rossi had the pace to fight with Lorenzo.

What a season this will turn out to be.

Lorenzo pulled out a brilliant pole lap and had a faultless race so he definitely deserved his win, as a Marquez fan I was delighted to see him get a podium and as a Rossi fan what can I say? Vale! Vale! Vale! :D I think Rossi learned in his Ducati years that finding a good race setup is far more important than qualifying at the front, he was so aggressive on the kerbs but he was the rider with the grip at the end of the race.

I laugh in the face of the posters saying that Rossi doesn't have the pace. Great to see him looking comfortable on the bike again, showing some of his old magic.

As much as I dislike Lorenzo as a personality, he is a fantastic rider. Got a good start, head down, and rode off into the distance. Excited to see future battle between him and Vale.

Great races across all the classes today! Really happy with Rossi fighting his way up to 2nd and I was also very impressed with Marquez, though I shouldn't be surprised. Fantastic debut for Iannone and also for Dovizioso on the Ducati as well.

Moto2 was great, especially with Espargaro and Redding fighting tooth and nail for the win. Shame about West crashing out though. Enjoyed Moto3 thoroughly, really happy to see the Mahindra's and also Danny Webb being fairly competitive.

👍

I missed the race, but it sounded like a great one to have watched. Also, one cannot argue with Rossi beating Marquez :D.

I hated the thought of Rossi ending his career on a sour Ducati note, and now it looks like he will finally see some wins again at last ..for sure he will not take anything for granted if he does. The thought of a happy Rossi at the post race press conference is something I really hope to see again.

It's nice to see Rossi back where he should be. It's going to be an interesting season. I reckon it'll be between Lorenzo and Rossi, like it has been in the past.

I recon I was one of those doubting Rossi pace, however I never was happier to be wrong. My heart beat like crazy during the race it was so cool to get that tension again hoping for Rossi to do great things. Now I can't wait to be in Muggelo. I hope Rossi gonna get a 10th title even if it's gonna be hard against Lorenzo.

I found this image and thought I'd share it, it can't have been taken that long ago because Rossi is in Fiat sponsored gear but Marquez looks about 10. :) I guess 2007.

Just decided to come back from "retirement" (*) to hail the great Rossi and Marquez...

Never had a doubt about Rossi, and was pretty confident about Marquez.

Nothing against nor do I intend to minimize Lorenzo and his victory. But it was great to see 2 "aliens" from different generations meet on the track.

We are in for a heck of a season IMO.

* I've decided to stay away from forums since I don't have the time to argue or the temper to ignore (insert adjective here) people. Not referring to this thread though... easily the best thread in the whole GTPlanet forum :)

I'm guess around 2008 due to the Wudy sponsorship.

Can't be that late? He was born in 1993... in 2008 he would have been 15.

Surely its earlier than that?

I think Rossi/ Yamaha first had Fiat logos prominent (versus Gauloises or Camel) around 2007. Here is a 2007 pic of him with Kerrakol and Fiat logos:

That would make Marquez around 14 at the time.

Here's a photo from 2007 when Marquez was 15, I'd still say around 2007-2008.

Since we're on a speculation high, let's make some predictions!
Top 3 in each class and anything else you want to say:
Moto 3: Folger, Salom, Vinales
Moto 2: Pol, Redding, Simon
Moto Gp: Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Marquez
Also, short of misfortune for Jorge, I can't see Rossi winning outside of Italy (ooh controversial)

Moto3: Folger, Vinales, Salom
Moto2: Redding, Espargaro, Rabat
MotoGP: Lorenzo, Rossi, Pedrosa

Ranking for this year championship ?

Moto3 : Salom, Vinales, Marquez
Moto 2 : Espargaro, Redding, Luethi
MotoGP : Lorenzo, Rossi, Marquez.
