2014 Ford F-150 Tremor (New Lightning!?)

Most people don't need a massive truck but still do need to haul things or want good fuel economy. A diesel F-150 would be a great addition to the F-Series lineup. Also I don't know why Ford doesn't sell the Ranger in the states, but sells it everywhere else. I'd love a small truck with a 4 cylinder diesel.

They only just stopped selling the Ranger here (2011 ish I think). No idea why they killed it. I'd personally like to see the Bronco come back.

Low sales in small trucks. Hence why the Dakota was killed too, and Toyota is not selling single cab Tacoma's anymore.

Again, what part of, "buy a bigger truck, that's what they are there for" does nobody here seem to understand? Power is good, it only makes as much power as you let it by stepping on the gas pedal

What part of "they'd like to have the ability of the optional engines without the atrocious mileage of the optional engines" do you not understand?

Lets agree to disagree.

BTW, bottom dollar, fleet quality ones usually do have bench seats. And don't try to argue that one, I have been on the car lots, looking at everything, within the last month.

Never seen one with them in person so I couldn't argue against it even if I wanted to. Most of what I see has bucket seats.

Sad isn't it? I would love a small truck that gets good milage and is easy to park but that isnt really in the cards since the ranger died.

It is unfortunate they killed it, it was a decent truck that was made for many years.

Back on topic, I wonder how well this F-150 will sell. Hopefully enough to convince Ford to make a new V8 lightning.

According to those reports, it's mainly a replacement for the shiny toy Harley edition. Funny, I'm certain the only option on that is a V8.

"I'd much rather see Ford and Chevy offer a diesel engine in their half ton trucks than do something like this."

Depending on how big the Colorado/Canyon ends up being for the US market, you're probably going to get your wish in the near-future.

Doesn't the Colorado offer a diesel option on top of the Inline 5?

Blimey, this thread moved fast.

But....it is designed to go offroad. It has the stock FX4 suspension and it comes with 4WD...sounds like it should go offroad to me.

But it also has sprayed-on street tires and huge wheels. The huge ride height is just an oversight as far as I can see - a sport truck not designed for off-road use that they've forgotten to lower. 4WD is no guarantee of off-road ability, even in a truck.

If it was made for better handling then you have a fair point. Personally though I think it looks better a bit higher, especially this body style.

It should be made for better handling. Ford already has a dedicated off-road F-Series, it's called the Raptor.

Either that or Ford is sending out mixed messages by using the Tremor to pace the next NASCAR truck series race. Pretty sure NASCAR doesn't race on dirt these days.

Joey has it, really:

The height also look really out of place with the big wheels and street tires.

I like the look of it a lot, I'm a fan of the current F150 body style and even though it is a bit garish I like the colour of the red truck and the sticker package. It's just different enough that it looks unique compared to the standard truck, but not enough that it's posing as something it's not.

Really agree that it needs to be lower though, the height just looks weird on a truck that is trying to be a street machine. I'd be interested in one of these if it were lower and had a competent sports suspension. As of now I think it's largely going to just be a dudebro truck to carry kegs to bush parties, I mean that's basically what people buy Raptors for and the Raptor is a highly capable offroader. This thing will be substantially cheaper than that and lower the cost of douchebag.

To me it looks too tall and by the sounds of stock suspension with no SVT or Ford Racing work it's not sporty enough to be a new Lightning.

But at the same time, those big wheels and low profile Pirellis don't make it a cheaper brother to the Raptor even if it is 4WD.

Looks more like an F150 Sport.

Doesn't the Colorado offer a diesel option on top of the Inline 5?

In North America, they have yet to offer that configuration. On the original Colorado/Canyon, we had the four and five cylinder options, and then they eventually added the V8 a few years back.

The newer, larger Colorado/Canyon that we'll be seeing in a few weeks is currently only sold with diesel options on the international market. They're both four-cylinders in their current run. I'd expect the big 2.8L to be an option, likely in addition to the 3.6L V6, and probably a 2.5L gasoline I4.

Oh ok, I thought I had heard different. Thanks 👍
