Goodyear, bad racing. Maybe the tires should say "blown" on the sides instead of Eagle. At least, if they did that, the tires would have honest advertising on them.

Before we blame Goodyear, knowing what tire pressures the teams are running would be nice to know.

And a little humor about the tire issues thanks to NASCAR Memes on Facebook.

Tire pressure doesn't cause the tread of a tire to unravel itself like Jr's tire did or separate from the core like Brad's tire did.
Not at the end of a run. Extra-low pressure usually only blows a tire very early in the run because the pressure will build as the tire gets laps in it.
Then I'm just glad Goodyear doesn't manufacture condoms.

Next year is when the contract ends.

I'd like to see Michelin be brought in.
Michelin tends to actually produce good results in everything it enters in. They might be a great company to go to if the contract with Goodyear isn't renewed.

Goodyear won't go away. They'll dish out as many bucks as they can to remain the exclusive tire of NASCAR.

They already supply tires for the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, and earlier this year they ran a rain race at Tours Speedway, which is an oval.

2015 doesn't sound promising for us race fans. 👎 Even with the rule changes to reduce aero dependency, the tires will likely be the reason for more funeral procession racing.

Rusty Wallace was pretty close with his prediction of caution laps in the race today. He said there would be 45, and there were 34 when the race was finished. That's only off by 1-2 cautions.

Edit: What a difference a points reset makes.

Current 4 that would be out:
Kahne
Keselowski
Earnhardt Jr
Johnson

Hamlin and Edwards who were just barely in last week are now top 5 in points, but it's only been one race so things will change.

So anyone else think now that the less power less downforce rules for 2015 are so the cars don't destroy tires? Goodyear tires have been a problem for a long time. The car is too heavy and too fast for these tires. I have a right front tire off Matt Kenseth's 17 car from 2008. There is no way I'd trust it to go 200 mph lol

I wouldn't trust leaving it there by the window where it could heat up and explode.

Exactly. Teams get aggressive with the setups, with tire pressure, camber, etc. trying to find more speed. Add to that the higher speeds this year, and a aero package that makes car tight, putting big loads on the right front.
