Toyota like their chances at Le Mans. Despite the issues at Spa, AMS said that when they went back for their two-day test last week they had no issues. The characteristics of Eau Rouge and Radilion caused some bottoming out and that put stress on the engine components. That won't happen again at LM.

That's an odd issue. You would think they would've anticipated an issue like that.

Let's be real here... A team can do as much testing as they want. Things will go wrong in the race no matter what. If Toyota thinks they're going to have smooth seas, they're dead wrong

Massively annoyed that the FIA have allowed F1 Baku on this weekend. They always said nothing else will happen on Le Mans weekend, money talks !
If only Nico Hulkenberg could participate this year too.. :indiff:
This guy has clearly better potential in endurance racing, at least that's what he showed in last year's race

If you remove "Eau Rouge putting stress on the components" out of the equation, that was Toyota's race.

I don't think they have what it takes to beat Porsche and Audi though.

Put him in the Mercedes or Red Bull and he'd probably be doing great in F1. I'd like to see him switch to WEC permanently though, F1 looks like a dead end

To be fair he'd probably win in F1 as well if he had the best car.

Judging by how much the drivers seem to love the new 488, hustling the 458 around is going to be a chore. I hope the BOP keeps them both as competitive as possible though.

458 is only in Am, 488 won't be in Am until next year (at which point, the 458 will be phased out). 458 is still facing the '15 C7.R, V8 Vantage and 911. Pro is where the new toys are at (GT, new C7.R, new V8 Vantage, upgraded Porsche, 488).

I'm gutted the 458 is in its final years, nothing beats the sound of them blasting down the pit straight at Le Mans, puts chills down your spine!
It's going to be a sad day when that howling Italian V8 is gone, that turbo may have nice chirps but its awful in comparison. Nowhere near as soulful as its NA counterpart.

Now that I've seen both the 488 and the 458 racing together, the 488 sounds nowhere near as good as the 458! Just my opinion obviously, such a recognisable and "racey" sounding engine

The turbos have muffled the sound, and it's not at all what a racer should sound like, heck it's un-Ferrari like almost. Guess the F40 was the last good turbo Ferrari. :/

So very hyped, hopefully we don't have to sit through many hours of watching hairy... backed French men slowly knock a bit of barrier straight.

I'm sad to see the end of the 458 drinking game, maybe the 488 guys will prove to be just as... foolhardy.
