Yep, where is the new IS F?
The IS, RC and GS share a common platform (obviously, there are differences in dimensions and wheelbases...)

EDIT: more accurately, the RC shares platform elements with both the IS and GS, but I do recall talk of the IS and GS being closely related before. Still looking for citations...
I'm sure a new IS F is in the plans.

The RC has the GS front, the IS Conv. for it's middle, & the IS sedan on the rear. It's a Frankenstein car that presents itself as the IS "Coupe", but could just as easily be seen as a GS Coupe by technical specs (weight, power, performance is near equal).

The IS & GS are both built on the New N Platform, so that may be what you're referring to.

Ah... that's it. Couldn't find it in a cursory search, but I recall when we did the launch article, that the IS and GS did indeed spawn from a shared platform. 👍

Edit: The F is supposed to mean Fuji Speedway.

I thought it stands for fugu, because there's certain parts of it you shouldn't eat.

I think they just used whatever letter was leftover that wasn't being used by another manufacturer, and then they developed a reason for it later.

I thought the ES essentially replaced it in their lineup.
Once the ES F-Sport was introduced, it completely took over. Which is unfortunate as the GS feels much better to drive. But variables outside the car's control really did a number on it like awful residuals.
