On the race, TBH, I don't even know what kind of cars they have in there. Only Drivers I know in the race are couple of big names that you mentioned, Bourdais & Tracy.

I'll make sure to do my homework before I go see the race. But if those of you, who have attended races before have any pointers, it'd be much appreciated.

But isn't that being xenophobic? Don't you just want to see the best drivers, regardless of nationality? Just kidding. But that's the response by some people whenever the lack of American drivers is brought up.

I never understood why the Brazilians were able to support their drivers, the French their drivers, the Japanese can support their drivers, but if Americans want to see more American drivers in open-wheel racing, it's somehow xenophobic.

Okay, back on topic.

Well, in countries that AREN'T the United States, they support real racing. In the U.S. sponsorship is generally in NASCAR and other oval racing series because they tend to be more popular. It is really, really hard to find a sponsor here. Whereas in Brazil or France or what-have-you open-wheel racing is generally at the top of every racing sponsor's list then sports cars and rally. (The way it SHOULD be in my opinion.) It's quite simple if we can somehow take NASCAR down...

Lola Chassis, Ford V8 Power, Bridgestone Tires. It's baisically a spec series. In my mind it provides some of the best racing action in North America (behind ALMS of course ) But seriously though. You're lucky you've got Paddock passes. The paddock is where all the haulers are parked and where some of the coolest action happens. You can walk in and watch the engineers at work. I think you are in for a heck of a time. Not to mention the support series you'll be watching. Have fun!

I went to the race, but I honestly couldn't tell you what happened. I should have taped it. We just walked all over the place, saw really loud and fast cars. Very nice experience though. It was a blast. 👍

P.S. From trying to park my car to actually getting to my seat took almost an hour and half.

Seabass also had a nasty accident, but fortunately he's ok. However, his DNF really shakes up the points standings!

Wow, that was an awesome race. A.J. has really shown his stuff at Forsythe, it makes me wonder what Mario and Paul have been doing, if A.J. can be so dominant in that car.

It’s good to hear that Bourdais is okay, it was a pretty nasty accident.

I was suprised how much abuse Paul Tracy’s car could handle. Especially considering that some other people had suspension failures with what are normally very strong cars. I almost expectd him to keep going with half a car after he hit the wall at turn 8.

I felt really sorry for Dan and Mario, at the end of the race. They both really deserved their results, and it was such as shame that they collided like that.

Champ Car gets better and better. I really enjoyed the race. That was a busy Sunday however. Flipping between Champ Cars @ Cleveland, NASCAR @ Sonoma and Grand-Am @ Mid-Ohio, my fingers could use some rest! On topic, A.J. is really showing his stuff. All of the IRL - Champ Car business is getting a little tiring. The Associated Press, or Speed News report, "Champ Car owner Kevin Kalkhoven and IRL owner Tony George have reached a deal that is the first big step in the line of deals that need to be done to unify!" ...then both sides reply, "No. It's no big deal." --- I'm paraphrasing of course.

Well... Most business deals are worked out in private so you can't really blame Kevin Kalkhoven or Tony George for not wanting to discuss the details in public. When the merger is finalized, they'll let us know. Patience is a virtue...

So, I guess we have Toronto on the slate next. I've been playing CART Precision Racing all week to check out the circuit. Apparently the Toronto market is very important to Champ Car. I hope this years race is as good as last years... Tracy and Bourdais duking it out, Justin winning (under caution as I recall.) The idea of a street circuit isn't anywhere near the top of my ideal tracks list but Toronto is fun. The track in CART Precision Racing (1997) was pretty cool. Tight in some places but that big straightaway will allow for some passing especially into the right-left complex (if it's still there.) I heard an interview a while back with Tracy talking about how much the track has changed and how he thinks he doesn't have any advantage despite being the driver who has competed most at Toronto, because it changed so much... do they change the course as much as I've gotten the impression they have? 'Cause as I understand it they must change the thing every couple of years!

That was a good race. The accident that Phillipe had was a shame, he was having an okay race until that point.

An okay race?! Nelson was having a brilliant run. How many laps did he lead? 32, 34? Something like that. Really unfortunate. Street circuits are unforgiving and Toronto didn't seem to change that character. Did you hear the post-race interviews? A.J. and the guys joking about those pigeons on the track (and they managed to fit in a sponsor plug.) I really like the F1 style post-race podium interviews. It was funny, Paul and Seabass were respectful to each other. Each complementing the other at least once about their racing.
