2016 Volvo XC90

I see a lot of Audi Q5 in the front, not sure about those taillights either.

A Polestar SUV? I'm not sure how to feel about that, although it would be kinda cool to see it go up against X5M/X6M and the M63 AMG and whatever the Q7's high performance version is called.

They already have the current line of SUV's in Polestar trim, or for about $1,700 you can have the local Volvo dealer put the tune on it.

The renders do make it look good in Swedish Racing Green though.

I really like this car. It looks amazing; way better than the new GM SUV's or the new refreshed Expedition.

That's a crazy idea for a drivetrain but I like the sound of it. Twincharged Hybrid I4, with 395 bhp. Twincharging is back!

I'm actually excited about something new from Sweden.

Man, Volvo knows how to do achingly beautiful designs that are tasteful, without rustling too many features. Even if it is only an evolution of the XC90, an SUV that's old as dirt and still looks good, I don't care - this thing looks great. Although I have my reservations on the waterfall grille, especially on the chromed-out one, it still looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing these design queues trickle down to the other models in the near-future.

That's quite nice, the grille looks better than one in base version.

Really does, with base it reminds me of a modern Buick grille that only is different because of the Volvo logo, but you take out the diagonal line and you don't have much difference. Though if it's the R-Design you're talking about which I think it is, then that's much better to me as well.

Yes, I was talking about R-Design.

Engine info.

http://www.autoblog.com/2014/10/07/volvo-specs-new-450hp-triple-charged-four-cylinder-engine/

The new High Performance Drive-E Powertrain incorporates two parallel turbochargers fed by a third electric turbo-compressor. Instead of feeding the cylinders directly, that third unit spools up the twin turbochargers, working together with a dual fuel pump pressurized to 250 bar.

The result is an output of 450 horsepower – far more than the existing 320-hp version and even more than expected. That also works out to 225 hp/liter, far more than the 177 hp/liter boasted by Mercedes-AMG's high-output turbo four and the 139 hp/liter in the Alfa Romeo 4C. Short of a rotary engine (whose actual displacement is the subject of great debate), you'd have to go up to something like the Koenigsegg One:1(268 hp/liter) to find a higher specific output than what Volvo's boasting here.

Eh sorta. Platform wise it was a replacement, but the V40 doesn't offer a 3-door configuration unfortunately.
And no 5-door C30. A 3-door V40 would be great, it's already a very good looking car.

@SlipZtrEm Although Audi is using it on diesels. It's good to see another manufacturer developing the technology.

Do not spread lies!

So Volvo's beating Audi to market on the e-turbo front? Noice.

Not quite, the new engine is just a prototype and there's no news on a possible launch date according to an Autocar article I read.

Audi is still on course to bring electric turbos to market by 2015/6.
