Driven the hybrid and electronic Ioniqs (not tried an autonomous one, obviously). Both nice cars.

Hybrid feels a bit less sophisticated than a Prius (conventional auto gearbox just doesn't mix power as smoothly as an e-CVT). Electric one is probably one of the best "conventional" electric cars on sale at the moment. Handles well, and has a nicely-arranged interior, with a cut-away console that feels more special than the conventional dash in the hybrid. Hyundai's used copper/bronze-coloured detailing rather than the shades of blue that everyone else uses for electric vehicles, and it's quite a tasteful colour scheme.

So, the interior is more conventional as opposed to making one feel like one is in a dreamy electric car interior(Leaf, Tesla).

It's relatively conventional, but where the hybrid has a regular centre console with a regular shift lever etc, the electric one feels a bit more special, with a raised console with P/R/D buttons, and a bunch of storage space in front of it:

The Leaf's interior doesn't feel too weird to me. If anything, it's starting to feel a bit old-fashioned. The Tesla obviously takes a bit more getting used to, but I'd say the Ioniq is a nice balance of modern and conventional. Use of colours other than dark grey would be nice for some of the trim materials (I don't like dark interiors) but it's all fairly tasteful at least.

Yeah, I drove a Leaf for a very short distance. Wasn't very futuristic when I took it all in.

I guess Hyundai are playing things smart. Keeping a similar appearance between the two.

I feel the exterior is pretty ugly IMO especially with that silver thing. Also looks so forgettable.

I know it's not saying much but I personally find the Ioniq more attractive than the Prius IV and Leaf, the main competitors of the Hybrid and Electric variants respectively.

I don't mind it, but I think they should have been a bit more creative with the grille block. Some exterior details (depending on the main exterior shade) are in the same copper colour used inside. If the grille had been like that, it would have been an interesting detail - silver can often look a bit cheap. For other exterior shades, it could be black, or dark grey, or white, or other contrasting colours. As an owner it'd be tempting to get it wrapped or resprayed in a different shade.

I don't understand the trend of making it appear like there should be a grille, yet there isn't actually a grille. Why not go with the Mercury Sable idea and have the headlights go across the entire front?

Maybe cheaper to make the front bumper bar one piece? Plus light technology has come a long way. Only need just about a pin hole to disperse light now.

I do still like the '90 Integra front light bar though.

The question is this:

Does it look better than this crap?

The front end of this "thing" looks like a Veloster nose that had suffered through an exploding container of superglue, then painted silver to make it look somewhat presentable. And the rest of the car just looks like generic thing #8598473927...
