It's happened. Faraday Future has unveiled its high-tech electric FF 91 SUV. Interested parties can place a $5,000 (refundable) deposit on the car right now with it going into production in 2018. With an range of 378 miles (it has a 130kWh pack), all-wheel drive, all wheel turning and 1,050 horsepower

Apparently a combustion engine sound can be heard from the car on stage. Faraday people have said it's the sound from the motor cooling the batteries.

The only question is whether Faraday Future will even live to see this car produced. The claimed specs do make for a promising Tesla competitor. As for the claimed 0-60 time of 2.4 seconds, I could believe it.

At least they can bet the shareholders money at the casinos, down the road from the factory.

-> I bet that battery cooling fan is as loud as my 7 year old MacPro I've been using. :(

I've read the entire presentation was nothing more than a show to convince Jai (their main investor) to keep pouring money into them rather than actually attract buyers.

They promise a 2018 delivery but all the reports say their billion dollar factory doesn't even have a solid foundation built yet.

I had forgotten that this company even existed until now. And considering general interest in pure EVs has been steadily declining over the last year, I don't see how they're going to really going to bring in any new investors without someone who has the personality and ambition to keep the media's attention, like a certain other electric vehicle company has.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if someone at the top suddenly vanishes with a bunch of "misplaced" funds and leaves the company to wither and die.
