The throwback white really suits the Ford's, cleaner than the standard livery, shame it'll probably only be for Daytona.

Anywway, really looking forward to this season, looks like it's going to a good'un with the growth in DPi, will be keen to see how Mazda do with the BoP improvements and team/management changes made. They showed flashes of genuine pace last year so things could be promising fingers crossed.

Holy South America Batman! Was thinking about the Cadillacs from Action Express after that video from Pruett

Pipo Derani
Felipe Nasr
Christian Fittipaldi
Joao Barbosa
Albuquerque

I didn't even see the other drivers, but it's like a South American friggin' powerhouse. :D Shame Rubens didn't hop in for the endurance drive.

Has quali been shown on IMSA TV in the past? Would love to watch the cars out on track live. Dunno if I can wait another two weeks

I realize that and I have tried for today's coverage on IMSA.TV and the NBCSports app but there is no video coverage on either, just audio on IMSA.TV through IMSA radio. I'm listening to IMSA radio currently. As today's qualifying is for pit and garage locations it probably doesn't warrant more coverage.

EDIT

#3 vette fastest gtlm then 67,66, 912,911

Isn’t Rubens in one of the JDC yellow submarine Cadillacs?

Yep, I just meant the others are all on the same team - sharing cars. Could have been a full sweep! Pruett interviewed Rubens and he laid it on pretty thick that he'd really like to be in the series more than the occasional endurance race....(hint hint).

Just trying to follow correctly. Does the #57 NSX retain the garage position, no matter their qualifying position?

Just had a brief look at Pruett’s prototype garage tour trying to get used to the look of the current-gen Daytona Protos (for me the first thing what comes up when mentioning them is that rather ugly first-gen design) and one thing stood out, or rather the lack of it: slicks. Are the DPis not on slicks?

They are, but it was raining during one of the days, which I'm guessing is the day that video was filmed.

Infiniti or Subaru? It won't be Mitsubishi or Suzuki. Medium volume though? So not Toyota?
Well the article did say that Lexus is still in talks, just not for 2020. Plus, we already have Nissan so I doubt Infiniti will be joining.

I'm still trying to figure out who the available medium-volume Japanese manufacturers are. Depending on who it is we could see 6+ manufacturers for 2020.

I thought SC365 was saying Ferrari walked out of the WEC meetings before most of the other motorsports publications shut that one down. I hope that reports of more manufacturers is true, but it makes me kind of skeptical of things they report for the foreseeable future after getting that story wrong.

What about GTLM, what will happen if Ford leaves?
The article actually states that Ford is unlikely to continue after 2019, so odds are the GT won't be on the grid in 2020.

That's sad :(

I really want to see another manufacturer in 2020. TVR is targeting GTE WEC effort, then there's the GR Supra. I doubt that any of them will join IMSA...

Hell the Ford GT was only supposed to run through, what 2017 or 2018? The fact we're getting it another year is already decent. GTLM's future could be an entire new thread. The ACO etc. were asking the GTLM teams to consider "stepping up" to the Hypermark cars in the future, and as LMP1s become slower, as to LMP2s to match them, the GTLMs would also possibly need reducing, or replacement. I think we'll see a large change in GTLM rules at some point in the next few years.

Thanks! I just skimmed through it without sound, they might have even mentioned it, plus I didn't check weather either :)

Just catching up on the Japanese manufacturer discussions:

- Honda/Acura is already in
- Nissan/Infinity also in
- Toyota/Lexus not in according to the article
- Mazda also in

That leaves Mitsubishi, Subaru and Suzuki. Out of these I just can't see Suzuki doing DPi. As far as I know - that's not exactly much, let's be honest - Mitsubishi isn't really a known quantity in road racing, at least for me they're more rally and rally raid-oriented (I want those 1992-1993 Pajero T1s in FM7). Of course, stuff can happen but I'd say Subaru would be more likely. Hopefully we will know more soon.

I believe the video was filmed after the teams finished unloading and going though tech inspections for the start of the test.

In the few IMSA races I have attended, I've seen the teams rolling the cars to and from places in the paddock on a set of old rain tires.
