2020 NTT IndyCar Series SeasonOpen Wheel

Maybe Indy Car could release their entire 2019 season including the Indy 500 to their Youtube channel? That would be a good move to at least put some new eyes on the series in this downtime. But then again that might violate some part or all of their agreement with NBC.

Which makes perfect sense. There is no reason to hold any event in the next 30 days unless restrictions are lifted.

Well, this year really is a pile of 🤬 as a whole.

Here's some replacement entertainment for the time being. 20 years ago the season's start was surprisingly similar to what should've taken place this year, going from Florida to Long Beach. (They talked about Nazareth being the next (2nd) round an awful lot, but that got rescheduled due to snow out of all things.)

While still two months away, I think it is becoming increasingly likely that the 500 will be postponed or canceled. As most international events have been delayed up to around mid to late May, Penske should have some decision in the next two weeks. Events around the same time of the 500 (French Open, Preakness) have already been ppd so it would make logical sense to do the same.

Indy 500 supposedly postponed to the 23rd of August. Can't see it going ahead that early in the year personally.

Over the years, I've been to many Brickyard 400's in early August (though it's been a few years since my last). It's generally miserable if you're in the sun all race, because the sun tends to be blazing that time of year. If you're in the area under the stands on the front stretch or turn 1 or lucky enough to be in a suite, then it's much nicer.

It's a bit odd that I'm getting almost as excited for a virtual race as I would be for a real race. Maybe it's the mash-up of world class drivers that I'm really enjoying as this sort of one to one competition couldn't happen in reality. And yes, Watkins Glen is also my favorite track having grown up just a few minutes down the road from it. :D

If we start 2020 from April, the first round is at the end of February and the Indy 500 is still in May.

Yeah. I've got nothing.

Will Power being what we expect Will Power to be. [Obvious language warning that goes without saying.]

GTP doesn't like Twitch clips that much...or I haven't figured it out.

I really hope Iowa happens as I already have tickets for both nights. :D

Of course even if it doesn’t happen this year double headers at ovals is something they need to aim for.

Oof, that initial race start looked like a bunch of shoppers piling through the doors of Walmart on black Friday morning.

Man F1 really looking like fools by having a arcade game made by codemasters that no driver wants to play, this Iracing Indycar series is honestly the best virtual ran series I have ever seen by a country mile.

I really hope they invite some F1 drivers for the events like Indy 500.

Why were so many of them having trouble spinning out on pitlane? Does iracing have a pit limiter? I know it's hard getting down to the speed limit but they were getting loose as they were coming down pitlane.

Yeah there were multiple spins by cars that were already basically parked on pit lane trying to get going again. You'd think those guys would know how to handle a situation like that, which suggests something about the grip or the low-end power or the way the limiter works was different than what they are used to. Unless they were just having "video game" moments and being more aggressive than they normally would. You sometimes see cars have trouble getting going again when stuck in the grass or otherwise "out in the wild," but I don't recall often seeing pro drivers doing that after spinning in the pits.

brakes would of been ice cold due to not needing them at any part of the lap.

iRacing indycars REALLY struggle with braking and they snap loose super easily. A lot of the drivers have called out iracing about the fact that their model is not super accurate and people are struggling due to that fact.
