I've managed to tear my myself away from Aston Martin for this season, I was torn between Jaguar and Lexus, but Barcelona has made up my mind...

I’m thinking that if I enter this first round of the Manufacturers Series at Catalunya, I’ll just use hards and then use more of the same when I pit for fuel. Any thoughts?

My only thought is: If the time gained by not stippling, sliding and potentially running off track by going with 2 hard stints is faster for you than running a soft/hard strat that's going to run you into heavy tire wear, than do it. Theoretically, a soft stint followed by a hard stint (or vice-versa, depending on starting position) is the fastest strategy, but you want to know the absolute fastest strategy? Not running off track into the gravel anywhere.

I’ve done a heap of testing and I’m still undecided on Manufacturer for this season. I’ve whittled it down to Jag, Aston, Ford, McLaren and Hyundai.

The good news seems to be that the season is very balanced and there’s unlikely to be a clear meta manufacturer. There are some absolute stinkers though (I’m looking at you Alfa Romeo).

Edit: I’ve gone with Aston Martin. I used the Vantages for the final 20/21 exhibition series and they’ve won out again. The Group 3 car is a beast and should do well on most combos. The Group 4 is not quite as strong, but will still hold its own on the quicker circuits.

I’m using the Genesis Gr.3 and practicing at Catalunya, using the softs. My best time so far is 1:45.401, is that any good?
Is that in free practice or in a lobby with fuel and race grip levels turned on?

Free practice the time is good for DR B, if it's in a lobby with fuel it's good for DR A.

Crucially for this race is how fast you can go over the entire stint. It does you no good if you can bang out a 45.4 on lap 2 and then your tyres are toast for the rest of the stint.

The former.

Indeed, which is why I only plan to use the softs for qualifying, and then for the race itself, I’m going to use a couple sets of hards, just to be safe.

The former.

How’s tire wear on the Hyundai? I’m skipping this one with the 458 solely due to poor tire wear. I’d recommend that as that’s an alright FP time, but if you want to challenge for a top 5 in your race, you’re going to need to get a few race laps at that pace.

I've started using https://gtblade.com/ as a tool to see where my Free Practice times stack up against the competition and helps me set some incremental targets. I agree with @kungtotte_ that race pace is the more important guide for this race as the fuel saving and tire wear are big factors. I've been doing lobbies each day to gain consistency and while my FP time is near the bottom 20% of A+ in the Americas, I think in the actual race I should be in the top ten for my split and could see a top five if I'm lucky.

I don't know - it's moments like this that makes me wish tire and fuel use was enabled for free practice.

Try out the Lobby feature. There are a bunch of rooms each day setup with the race and qualy settings for Manu races each week. I hadn't really tried them before the Exhibition season and was a little apprehensive about dropping in as a stranger. Almost all of them have been warm and welcoming with good racing at different levels. Some guys host pretty regularly and those rooms attract a good mix. There's a guy named Kaboom that has good lobbies on a regular basis. Set your track selection in the left side menu and then look for a good connection and room size from the options available.

Or alternatively you can create your own lobby. Found that quite helpful if I just want to run some practice laps, with the fuel and tyre wear settings, get to grips with the car, and learn the track too.

So after vowing to stay with Jag for the official season, the temptation to switch Manufacturer was too strong. So I’m crossing the pond and taking on the muscle of the Corvettes!

Going to have to get used to stricter fuel management but worth it just to hear that V8 rumbling!

(Also there doesn’t seem to be much love on here for Chevy so another reason to sign for them ;))

Debut will be delayed however as I’m going to avoid Catalunya. Last time FIA was there it was arguably my worst performance, driving round trying not to finish last! I just dislike the track too much!

Holy Cr&^% Batman that is some serious intel you got there! I've been doing this manually for the last few months. Trying to guestimate how good my QT is compared to others in my class for a given daily race. And here is this website that actually shows me how slow I am compared to my B peers... wait what :scared:

Now all he needs to improve is a function that lets me see QT times of dailies I've done in the past and also FIA races. Then you have everything you could ever wish for!

Wow. Just amazing. No more labouring to guess I'm average P10 in every daily. Just look it up.

Do you have more of these? (I know of Kudos and r1s3, but others?)

Cheers,

Seth

Truth be told, I'm still undecided if I really want to enter the FIAGTCs this year. I got other games I wanna play, let alone other media I wanna check out and things I actually need to do. For one thing, I'm trying to work out unemployment at the moment, so I think that the responsible thing for me to do is actually abstain from the FIAGTCs, at least for this year, and then check out other media in the meantime.

EDIT: For example, I still haven't tried Ace Combat 7 yet.

Yeah, this site is great. Found it on here and I’m pretty sure it’s made by a forum member. Not positive but I’m gonna take a shot at tagging them @Jim_bilzerian

Very tempted by the Corvettes myself, the Gr3 car seems to be getting a bit to much attention recently for my liking

I don't think we can check anywhere, if PD keeps a record of who we have driven for in the past, but it feels like I've driven for pretty much everyone by now, even though that isn't mathmatically possible. I find Jag and Aston similar, but don't think I've driven for Aston and they are looking like a strong choice this season so here's to the big brutes!

Welp, time for me to make my once-in-a-blue moon post here. Life has gotten busy with a full-time job and trying to not spend the rest of my free time playing GT Sport, so browsing these forums have kinda been cut a little to free up time. So, way late here, but my results for the previous Exhibition Season were not bad, I guess. Tbh, I wasn't really aiming for anything, I was just disappointed with how the races this season went.

I only did two Nations rounds because the other four didn't appeal to me/I didn't have pace there. The Yaris race was a nightmare the 1st attempt with rammers everywhere, but my 2nd attempt yielded a decent finish because I escaped the chaos. My final Nations race also made me an official Top Split Driver because I got dumped as Door #20 in Top Split of the 2nd to last NA time slot, where I finished way better than I should have because people were getting way too aggressive and argy-bargy.

The Manufacturer combos were much more appealing to me. Of course, I managed to get my best score at Sardegna, where the Jaguar was completely OP. My worst score came at Interlagos, where I cemented that I'm terrible at the track. I threw away around 20-30 points or so in Rd. 2 though by going way too aggressive at the Larini hairpin on DT and launched myself into the air. How I only lost 2 places and not crashed out completely is still a mystery. I was hoping for good points at Tokyo at the end but... you've probably seen my video at the appalling quality of racing there, which was disappointing because I definitely had pace.

I want to take part in Nations, Manu, and the Toyota Cup for this 2021 season. We'll see if my schedule actually allows for that though or not. I'm just glad it's not like last year with 4 races per week, there's no way I could do that this year when working. I'm skipping the first rounds of Nations and Manu though because the races don't appeal to me. I'm trying to decide if I want to stick with Jag or go to Aston Martin, which was my second choice for the Exhibition season, but I need to find time to do some testing for those manufacturers. Good luck to everyone racing this week!

Welcome to the Bowtie Brigade! Remember to shift the Gr.3 right around when the red bar reaches the gear indicator. The Gr.4 can be taken to the redline. Both cars can be short-shifted aggressively (as soon as the red bar begins to creep in) without losing much time if you do need to save fuel.

Also, the feeling is mutual on Catalunya. I won't be showing up until Rd.2 for the Manufacturer's championship. I've been prepping for the kart race instead, since it'll probably be my best Nation's score of the season.

Hi all, :gtplanet:

Im sure that there was allready this question somewhere, so sorry for duplicate, but Im new to this FIA series...

Im going to participate today, there are 5 entry slots for today races Round1 (Manu, Gr3, Catalunya)
Only one (best) result counts for this Round or how is it?
Lets say I manage to get 1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 5th.
Will It take my best score or my latest score to count?

I couldnt figure it out on gtsport web, I understand that best Round from three Rounds count towards the final score, but what about the individual entries.
