Slot 2 Asia, Door 6.

Qualifying went pretty well, a 2:07.000 was enough for Q4. My best lap would have had me Q2. 1&2 were WRXs, 3 was a Ferrari.

Opted to start on mediums. Got off to a relative flyer and the front 4 put a second on 5th by the Degners. Lap 2 and I pulled off my greatest ever overtake in FIA. Hung it around the outside through the final turn of the esses to be .5s in front at Degner 1.

P3, in slip of P2 and pulling over a second a lap on p4, by the end of lap 5 we are 6 seconds in front. Enter Loki, our cat, who jumped onto my lap but missed, sinking claws from 2 paws into my leg. I almost save it, but can’t and lose 7 seconds to a spin. Now p7 and in the middle of the pack.

I get badly held up for quite a few laps but the rest of the race goes as well as I could hope. I pit lap 12 and rejoin in p9. P8 misses turn 1, 1 place back, then p7 spins at Spoon, 1 more back. Finally I get an overtake done with a better run out of Casio to take p6 and hold on to the end of the race.

P6, 153 pts. Realistically the cat cost me 3 places, but it’s still one and done.

Also, the standard of driving was excellent. I didn’t see any dives, punts or swipes. Very unusual but very welcome.

Cats and videogames do not mix! ask me how I know!?
Think every cat owner has at least once lost a game because of their furry little b*****d

still congrats on the result and one of your best overtakes ever! got a video of it?

Yeah, I have two cats so I’m surprised they haven’t caused me more issues to be honest.

I did save the replay, I’ll hopefully post a vid tomorrow . (Disclaimer: It seemed and felt amazing in the moment but I haven’t watched it back. It may or may not look as good as it felt.)

Well I'm down under and in a Toyota with zero practice. I know it's good on tyres so just going to do 6/12 assuming I'm not near the front. Bad quali Q12 and remembered to change tyres ;)
Well I really mucked up the first few laps, so decided to pit on 4 (knowing the 86 is good on tyres) and.....well it wasn't a bad decision, but I didn't have BB set right so near the end I wasn't fast enough to attack just to keep those behind far enough back not to worry.
Finished 9th and a bit disappointed, but my fault so 1 and done.

How is it manu night again already? I've done very little practice for this (about 5 or 6 laps last night, 2 or 3 in the Lexus on my alt account last week) and I think I might be on day care (or evening care as it were) tonight, so might have to sit this one out...

I am looking forward to the people who forget to change tyres after qualifying and have to 2 stop by accident. You can bet they will have an air of desperation early on.
Total noob question from a 2 year player here but how exactly do you change tires after qualy? When I go into car settings all other types are grayed out, it's always led me to assume you have to start on your qualy tires.

In the settings, you're supposed to change your front tires before the rear ones. For some bizarre reason, the game won't allow you to change the rear tires first. You'll notice the rear tires turn red once you've changed the front ones.

Well that was a race, qualified 10th after bottling my lap at the last chicane. Some of the drivers in that race were interesting, dude dived me at the last chicane in a TT, forced me off as tried to take me out at T1 as I'd managed to stay ahead (they failed). Started on hards and didn't really have much pace on them or on the mediums. Pitted lap 6 which felt like 1 to early. Ended up in 12th at the end for 93 points. Leaving it there as even though it wasn't a perfect race I just didn't quite have the pace on these tyres.

Decent night tonight, especially considering Suzuka's never really been a good circuit for me. I've got lots of history of binning it and otherwise just having very high stress races, like doing it in the Gr.3 Ferrari when the race had 15x tyre wear (internal screaming), binning it into turn 1 with cold tyres, or trying to drag the Gr.4 Lancer Evo around at some kind of meaningful speed (my condolences to @LVS_1986 ;)).

I qualified P2 with a 2:06.858, giving me my first ever start that doesn't go through the Casio Triangle. Survived turn 1 nicely after some wiggling down the main straight to try get some heat in the tyres and off we go. The Jaguar starting P3 quickly fell off the pace and got overtaken, but all became clear when he/she went into the pits at the end of lap 1 to get rid of some Hards. I continued to follow the BMW that qualified on pole.

I seem to have a bad habit of getting anxious shakes in my legs during FIA races which sometimes screws up my trailbraking and unfortunately it got me a bit tonight. Lots of sliding through Degner 2. :ouch:

The BMW made a major mistake during the Degners on lap 3 and I caught right up but then we came together at Spoon. Watching it back, I'd overestimated how alongside we were and it ended up being a bit of a divebomb. :ill: I apologised to the BMW after the race, not what I had intended to do at all.

A Toyota caught me after I had a mishap myself through the Degners and then I ended up misjudging it on the outside of turn 1 and going off myself, but thankfully no additional places lost from it. I did eventually get caught and passed by the Jaguar who started on Hards who was doing a 2-stop but I still finished P4. Given how Suzuka normally goes for me, that's a great result. 178 points, one and done.

The winner was a certain YouTuber that's got a bit of a reputation for being dirty and deliberately tanking rating to farm wins. #banp__? He started on Hards in P6 and was outpacing everyone in front on Mediums so fair play, but a little frustrating to get grouped with someone who shouldn't really be there.

Just noticed this has put me at my new personal highest DR as well, 42.9k. I'd love to be able to hit A+ before GT7 (bearing in mind I don't do daily races), although I'm not going to hold my breath. That's a LOT to climb from FIA alone!

It's PD's way of making sure people don't cheese the system by using 2 compounds at once in order to satisfy a tire requirement. For a while, it was possible to put 2 different compounds on the front and rear after qualifying, which would technically count as using 2 tire compounds in 1 stint.

Think it's so this feature is available in other modes, just not for competitive races

Fluffed my first quali lap so had to play it safe on my 2nd one and that put me P11 on the grid.
Unfortunately that meant I started in the chicane and with the driver ahead going off at T1 it meant I was 2.5s behind the pack ahead. I didn't have the pace to catch so was a lonely race for the most part with the only action being me losing a position on my out lap and in the end it was P10.
Not great but I'm not sure how much better I would've done even with the slipstream of the pack ahead.

Replay

Quali was totally destroyed by a plonker not wanting people to have space. So 19th of 20 and he didn't set a time. Quli needs to be done better, single go players released at 10 sec in tervals with everyone ghosted....or something, too many quali runs ruined by idiots. Did badly and then had to quit anyway. HO hum might be back in time for next.

Very high hopes for today, I'd done one full practice race and been quick in that, qualy practice was regularly producing low-mid 2:05s, I have a car good on tyres in the Ferrari, I'm not the worst at looking after them myself, and for once I had the scope to enter multiple slots. All pointed to a high possibility of a strong race and good points haul, so into the first slot I went

Pre race practice was strong... until I spent ten minutes dialling into qualy. Just couldn't get anywhere near, but it'll be alright on the night... no. Never hooked up the first half of the lap, a 2:05.8 only putting me 13th on the grid. Hard tyres on, and get rid of them ASAP.

Following an Alfa around for the first lap, he made for the pits as did I (we were the only cars to pit after L1), however he hit the pit wall on pit entry, and exited behind me. Time to undercut half the field

Setting purple laps it was clear we would be making progress, and as cars pitted, they would exit the pits behind us (except for an Alfa that had started around 6th and pitted after L3). The Alfa behind was staying very close, not quite close enough to make a move, and then around L6 I started getting a bit hot in my room, put the fan on while going down the main straight and the sudden cross wind clearly took the Alfa behind by surprise and he binned it T1

Caught up to a couple of cars that had started hards and were still running and was able to take advantage of small mistakes as well as continuing to jump people making pit stops. Now running 8th going into L10 with an Aston 3s back but slowly gaining, two Sciroccos made their stop and while one (original pole sitter) exited the pits a few seconds down the road, the other exited just ahead and we were going to be arriving at the apex of T1 at the same time - but at vastly different speeds and I wasn't backing out of this one

17cc33504f658-screenshotUrl.jpg

Absolutely fair play to him for not going across the white line on pit exit, very close through the apex and very close to running wide but I managed to make it stick and my mediums were in better shape than his hards, so I pulled away. Now if he could just keep that Aston behind that'll help me ou... oh no, Aston gets past pretty quickly

I closed down the other Scirocco and went past down S/F, he stayed on the racing line and didn't fight the position, so now if he could hold up that Aston for a lap or two I'd have some breathi... oh he's gone off!

The remaining cars that needed to pit had pitted, and I was running 4th with the Aston on five lap fresher tyres closing in at a couple of tenths a lap. An untidy L17 put him in my tow, I went defensive down S/F and he clearly didn't fancy trying the outside, I held the line around the corner then an excellent first half of the lap (where was that in qualy?!) saw me just stretch it out so he wasn't close enough to make a move. Kept it clean through Spoon and 130R and came across the line on battered tyres for a well earned 4th place and all-time personal best of 306 points

I had scope to go again, but wasn't gambling these, especially needing five results and not being able to do some of the races. A very satisfying evening's work indeed!

Went again and Q12 doing OK on lap 12, fighting for 8th and looking for maybe a top 5 finish (some in front hadn't pitted or had used softs) when I get the moron who just punts me, not a mistake or a move that went wrong just I'm taking the place and I'll drive like theres no one else on the track. I got hit again before I'm settled (this can be chalked up to driving incident) then the moron who has ruined my race pits :banghead: :banghead:  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: He's not even racing me, he'll be lucky not to finish DFL yet spoils other peoples races.
I quit calling that race a waste and going to dust off my alt with the Ferrari for the last slot, no point taking this serious might as well try and grab some fun.

I shattered my ankle 12 years ago and it is now held together with lots of metalware. Now, due to a combination of Norwegian cold weather last and a newly acquired Fanatec Loadcell pedal last week it has been playing havoc with me and I am pretty sure I could rival Pac-Man for the number of pills I have been munching in the last week. I did some practice on Sunday and could not get anything right. Car was sliding all over the place, a single tyre off the grey stuff would cause a pirouette, 6 seconds off the pace I should be setting etc... So with no practice I figured I would give this week a miss.

As it happens I more than likely had to skip the first slot tonight anyway, so I figured "screw it" and used the time in slot 2 to practice for a slot-3 run. This time it went insanely well and things just I dunno, clicked. As the lobby was matching I managed to set a 2:06.0 in practice, so I knew I had the potential.

Qualifying started and managed to get a decent position for the start of the first flying lap with plenty of space behind, and plenty in front. Lady luck didn't shine and I managed to drift T1. The rest of the lap was pretty OK, bit of a slide at Degner 2 and early braking at Casio, but a decent low 2:07 banker for 4th place. Lap 2 I was up by a lot on my previous time (I can't remember exactly without looking at the video save, but 6 tenths sounds about right) but coming out of spoon the car in 17th place was running kinda slow. I managed to pick up the slipstream coming in to 130R which put me purple but he decided it was the actual race and went defensive, completely blocking my entry in to the Casio and compromising the exit. This actually meant I didn't improve on my time, but still started 4th.

For the race, being that far forward I figured the safest option was the Mediums. it was quite nice to actually not have the middle of the Casio triangle as the first challenge and everyone got through turn 1 safely, but trepidly. At 130R the cars in 5th, 6th and 7th all started fighting hard which compromised all their final turns meaning I had a 3s gap behind and was following the Aston Martin in front. The cars in 1st and second had vanished by this point. Looking at the lap times and deltas it was pretty clear those two were on the softs but imagine my surprise at the end of lap 5 when the Aston pitted too! From lap 5 to lap 10 I just plodded on in the lead trying to minimise tyre wear to make them last as long as I could. At lap 10 a Toyota behind was gaining rapidly on me so I figured I would pit lap 11 instead of 12 to try and minimise the undercut possibility. He followed me in.

Now, cold hards and the possibility of a win and my ankle starting to ache meant that I made a few mistakes on these tyres, with the astro-turf on T1 and Spoon alternating on laps 12-14 which ones would try and spin me. I managed to keep it luckily, but this meant I yielded first to the Toyota. I managed to compose myself, but was now 22s behind the leader who had to pit on the final lap for hards. On the final lap he came out of the pits as I was just passing meaning I JUST kept second going in to T1. with his cold hards in the slipstream he couldn't find the pace to pass me and I brought it home in second for 150 points.

Happy with that :D

I forgot to take some screenies of the results, so you'll just have to make so with this one for second...

I really hate dirty cheaters and i really hate that PD has arrranged the game as such that they the dirty cheaters get the spoils!!!!!

At the pre-announcement at race start i noticed a name, an italian fellow. I recognised him from shoving others of track in previous races so i was starting to get worried.

this is his DR/SR, think it says enough:
1635374765605.png

1635374180930.png

he started 10th and he was fast, i'll admit that, and to avoid losing time in overtaking he simply rammed his opposition. When it was my time i made a mistake at the chicane so he could easily overtake cleanly me but he wanted to be sure and still pushed me into the grass, deliberately, costing me my third place and more. This S.O.B. went on to win the race as the penalty system is shut down and cheaters like this are given easy wins by PD as all they have to do is shove the others.

As for my race:
door no 14, qualified 7th with a good lap, only a few tenths of my fastest free practice

start went okay and till the incident i was doing fine. Just after the incident i pitted and that is when i screwed up myself. first hit the pitwall and then forgot to push the "do not refuel"button which costed me some time. Ended up in 7th place, right where i started. Mixed feeling about my performance, had a few vey good laps but also a lot of sloppy ones.

After the race a Croatian fellow called me dirty. I checked the replay and we never had contact. He did with the italian P.O.S. though so think he selected the wrong avator. Sent him a message to be sure...

now to start practicing for the next race...

Well, that was.....stupid. Logged in for the first NA race slot. Got matched, then, during warm-up, the track went away. Still had HUD and radar, ect, but no track visuals. Okay, when it transitions to quali, it'll clear up, right? Nope....Just black background and no sound. Well, ****. Guess I'll try again in an hour. The DR hit hurts though.

I ran in my BMW. Argy-bargy race with no penance given.

I had promised my son, who is autistic, to run a race on his account. That was a lot more fun!
Lap 1 I got blocked on the back straight and then forced wide in 130. He later got the 1 min pen and finished DFL.
The rest of the race I hade a few times where I followed someone really close long enough that they ran them self off.
At lap 10 I was P2 behind a guy in a trophy, he pulled away through the esses every time, then I caught back up.
He went to pit on lap 10 and I stepped on it. When I pitted l12 I was so much in the lead I came out right behind him, we then had a couple of laps of me trailing him, then he cut Casio for .5,
I lifted as to not go double through R130, he promptly cut Casio for 1.0
I won by 2 seconds, 8 sec to p3

Manufacturer round 2, Americas slot 1, A/S lobby, 166 points, door #5

First qualy lap was completely botched and I started my second hot lap in provisional 20th. Got a bit of a tow and put down a clean lap to line up in 6th, 0.6 sec from pole, but one of my better qualy runs in a while.

Opted for the 11M, 7H strategy and again, it just all came together for me. Made up one spot as lap 1 shuffled through after some clean battles at first. Made another going into the hairpin on lap 3, was stunned on lap 7 when I realized that the leading VW was on softs and would have to pit twice, and on lap 10 the viper ahead went off in the left-hander heading up to the Degners. From there it was clean and green for me. Although I did finish some 8 seconds off the lead.

So a welcome podium in a fun and fair race. 159 points and a tidy 1,338 DR ~ 35.4K DR

Trying to find a practice room has been beyond dreadful today, either the room owners are absent or they have the wrong settings (Incorrect race distance, no qualifying, etc). All I want is to practice and figure out a strategy and I have not been able to do so.

Holy crap!!! Just checked my DR/SR....took a 1600 point hit to DR and a 5 point hit to SR. I NEVER LEFT PIT LANE! How do you get an SR down without moving?

I recorded a race...but I'm dumb and screwed up the sound, so I'll have to record the replay...

I pushed the SLS to its absolute limits. I haven't felt racing that good in a long while. Had good practice earlier in the day so I thought I'd try and make the best of it. IIRC I got a 2:06.300 or thereabouts in quali, P6 I think...my memory is worse than I thought... I'll get the race recorded tomorrow. I did make some mistakes though, but nothing major.

Oh, and I was actually using my wheel this time.

Unbelievable race, a truly survivor one. And my cat got involved too.

Door 4, Slot 2, Americas, B/S lobby, WRX.

Knowing it was a rolling start in a track which is difficult to pass, I did some hot laps to be prepared. First lap on qualify, P2 with less than a tenth behind the leader. Tried another lap, but made a mistake, caught cars ahead, ended P4. Not bad and starting after the chicane is a blessing. Changed to mediums to avoid getting caught by anyone behind me.

The race start was very tense. The leader was punted in the first corner by a TT and I had to defend from a Citroen which gave me a little tap from behind on first corner. Lap two, the three way battle for the lead got heated and in the first corner the same Citroen punted me off the track, lost three positions but in the esses a brave Lexus made justice for me putting the Citroen off the track (sadly he spun off in the process). In the next lap, I overtook the TT after he made another mistake and in the first corner of lap 4, the RCZ which got a lot of positions due misfortunes, spun off, alone, in the first corner, while leading. First half of the race in 2nd place, 2s behind the Jag, which was faster than me.

The things started to get interesting at the end of lap 6, to my surprise, the leader pit (he started on softs). Kept my head down and started to open a little gap of 6s to the pack behind me. Went to the pits on lap 10 (9 probably was the sweet spot for WRX) but in the outlap, my cat started to scratch my legs and I lost the concentration and ran wide in the hairpin, losing about 2 seconds. I feared to be jumped in the pits, but luckily this didn't happened, but my gap was around 4s to the second and he had fresher tyres than me. Kept the pressure under control even when he started to slowly catch me in the final laps. Finished around 2.5s ahead of him in the checkered flag. Yes guys, victory, 1,5K DR points and 125pts in the bag!

In the room, the 2nd place (a Canadian on Lambo) started to swear at two guys for "costing him the victory" despite he never had lead a single lap today. Overall, it was a good survivor race. Surviving the guys punting each other and my cat damaging my legs.

That was me in the viper. Congrats you were too consistent for me, I’m happy with finishing third, fun race! Apologies again for the slight bump when re-entering from running wide.
