From the side it kind of makes the car look a bit fighter-ish, although a bit ungainly from the front. Don't really care how either the screen or the halo look. I get racing is dangerous and that's part of the attraction, but I've seen enough horror over the years and don't care to see more if it can be helped.

Including this race, when Newgarden's wheel hit Hunter-Reay's screen.

Saw that video before my reply, it actually prompted me to post it, I just wondered what everyone would have said in 2019 after this crash (with aeroscreen on): 3 or 4 drivers saved? - including Hunter-Reay. Those like me who don't love halo and stuff, not necessarily are savage bloodthirsty fiends watching races to see massacres.

I know it's only two races in but the Jimmie Johnson experiment is looking like a disaster. He is so out of his element.

What I liked in the build up was the praise from the commentators that he has gone from 2.5s per lap slower down to 1.5s slower. Of course, they totally ignored that it's 1.5s slower on 60 second lap, vs 2.5s slower on a 98 second lap - meaning Jimmy has actually got slower, not faster. Don't get me wrong, I don't even pretend to know how to drive these cars, but it does go to show you cannot transition from Nascar to Indycar if you had not entered in elite-level single-seater before (read JPM or Danica Patrick).

On the track perhaps, but every ad break he makes the rest of the field look bad. Considering Jimmie has always had the reputation of being a tad bland personality wise it's pretty telling that he seems to be the only one regularly featured in commercials.

IMHO, Johnson is bringing a lot of good things like very large sponsorship dollars, spectators, media hype, connections in the industry, etc. Hopefully he will gradually improve as an Indy Car driver over the course of the year.

Seems it will be a race to halfway, hopefully that doesn’t result in the drivers making stupid moves.

Edit: Bourdais is the first victim.

Edit 2: Hinch is the second

Dixon wins. Scotty gets second on Oval debut. A few more laps and he might have been able to get by Dixon with the help of traffic.

I recorded the race only to find out I missed the first 52 laps. According to the guide of my TV, there was a half hour prerace followed by what was supposed to be the start of the race. I set my recording for the start. So my question is:
Did NBCSN jack up the listed starting time? Or...
Did my cable provider list the wrong prerace and start time? Or...
Did the race start early fearing weather?

As for what I saw of the race, well done by Dixon. That was some domination. However I was bothered by Newgarden getting penalized for the incident with Bourdais. Bourdais himself said he got the short end of the stick in what was simply a chain reaction event.

Really thought that McLaughlin would struggle on ovals given that he's obviously never raced on them before. Boy, was I proven wrong. What an incredible drive.

I watched the first half of the race (1st race) then had to take care of the family, foolishly checked the news before watching the last half of the race... Saw a very surprising Kiwi's 1&2 :D.

Year of the Scotties ? :)

Agree with Rossi, they should've had a qualifying before the second race. Especially here with the remains of the PJ1 crap.
