Now Kelce can't announce his retirement and propose to Taylor Swift in the post game show.

Happy for DeVonta Smith as he's a Heisman Trophy winner, National Championship winner and now a Super Bowl winner. But I really wanted to see the Chiefs win just to keep irritating people.

I kind of not been 100% this entire month, so I apologize. This is still your Postseason Playoffs Picture right about now.

[UPDATE] Los Angeles Rams are NOT NFC West Champions. They clinched a berth. Changes made.

[UPDATE] LA Rams are NFC West Champions.
And with that, the 2024 NFL Season and final @JohnBM01 edition is over. Rest easy buddy, and Fly Eagles Fly.

I think that was the first Super Bowl I didn't watch. However, seeing the highlights of Swift and Trump getting booed was nice. Looking at the stat lines, the Chiefs were truly terrible and I guess that's how they are when they're not constantly bailed out in crucial moments of the game.

I hate that Philly won. I hate that team, I hate their stupid tush push, I hate so many of their trash fans, I hate Nick Sirianni, and I hate that CJ Gardner-Johnson got a ring. But I'm glad Saquon and Slay won.

I think the fact that KC won 12 games this by 7 or less covered over a lot of their issues. Their receivers were not good, Travis Kelce started to decline, running game fell off when Pacheco got hurt. But none of that mattered because they had a great defense and Mahomes. They knew if the game was close at the end Mahomes would get them the win. But Philly came out and punched them in the mouth and didn't let up. Philly took away the quick short passes and all of the downfield stuff as well. Since Mahomes couldn't get rid of the ball quickly they didn't have to blitz. On the times Mahomes was able to get rid of the ball quickly his receivers Like Kelce & Hopkins dropped passes that could have changed the course of the game maybe. It was like they took the TB gameplan from 2017 and repeated it to the tee. Mahomes like shook and didn't trust his line or his receivers. To me I feel like the Chiefs were not expecting the intensity that brought in the game. I don't want to say that they overlooked the Eagles but they didn't play like they were 2 time champs.

I managed to not spoil the result for myself and watched the game 'as live' (albeit spinning through the ads and halftime show) on DAZN.

Not a classic, but a thoroughly convincing win for the Eagles and a crushing response to their defeat to the Chiefs back in 2023.

Next year will mark 40 years since I first watched a Super Bowl... I can hardly believe that stat. A school friend of mine moved to Boston and started sending me Patriots stuff through the mail ca. 1985, and that happened to be the year the Patriots made it to their first Super Bowl, only to be crushed by the Chicago Bears and 'The Fridge'. Since then, I've maybe watched about half of the Super Bowls, and it has become something of a tradition to have a 'slow work day' that may or may not involve staying at home and watching the game on catch-up, as was the case today.

One issue I had this year was watching it on DAZN - it had the full US live broadcast, and the sheer number (and length!) of the ads is just crazy - I'm really glad I could spin through those, even though I nearly spoiled the result for myself a couple of times because the DAZN app is horrible. Still, it was interesting to see it as it was broadcast in the US for once.

It's very sad that @JohnBM01 is no longer with us to continue this thread series, but hopefully it will continue on in his memory.

We're planning to:

Congrats to the Eagles, it looked like the Chiefs didn't even try much at all. They kept letting the other team get the best of them. The half-time show was awesome, I danced to every song played out there. Another SB remembered from this year.
