i tried searching a bit, but couldn't really find what i was looking for, so i apologize if this has been posted before.

anyway, my current car is the Impreza 22b coupe, and i've been using it for rally and had no problem beating all the "easy" ones. however, i find myself getting WORKED in the "normal" stage of Grand Canyon. i have about ~424hp with my current setup, and don't really want to add a bigger turbo (using stage1). i have almost every other part equipped on the car, but i'm having some problems that i would like to get some help on. i was barely able to squeak by Grand Canyon "normal" against the '84 RS200 or whatever that little thing is. The only way i was able to win was by getting the jump in the begining, and cautiously going thru the course just barely able to keep the RS200 from passing me. if i was to fall behind, i would end up losing miserably (upwards of 8 seconds behind!). this was only a 3 A-Spec point race, so i was assuming it was gonna be easy! now i know this might have to my driving technique most of all, but i would like to know a few things about the setup. what the car is doing that i dont like is that the braking just sucks. it will understeer upon braking even with the brake bias turned toward the rear brake. i try to point the car in the right direction, but to keep it from understeering im having to brake way early, which most of the time will let the other car get past me, and i find myself unable to catch up afterwards. running Grand Canyon reverse, i still havent been able to win after several tries. i lead for maybe the 1st lap, but once i get passed, im history.

i have the full racing suspension and LSD, which i am normally used to setting up for street use (this car manhandled RUF's in the boxer race, handled quite well on the street). as far as spring rate, how stiff should it be for rally? on my current setup i'm using 7.6k front and 6.2k rear. i figure it should be less stiff than street (which i use like 9k/8k) since the ground is rougher right? should i loosen it up beyond that even? the ride height is pumped as high as it can go to help keep the shocks from bottoming out. my real question has to do with the shock dampening. i have the bound/rebound set at 5/6 F and 4/5 R. i havent realy experimented much with changing the dampening for rally, so i just guessed as to where to set it. a little more insight about how the shocks could be better set up for rally would be much appreciated. as for camber, i left it how it was at 2F and 1R, since i dont know how much of an effect camber would really have in the dirt. for toe angle, i left it at 1 in front and 2 in the rear. could i possibly toe out the rear a little more to help induce some oversteer? i dont want to go too dramatic with the alignment angles though. and for stabilizers i have F and R set at 3, since i figure the rough ground would make a stiff stabilizer cause too much bouncing. and for the LSD, i have it wound up pretty tight, since thats how i like it for street. the front diff is set up like a 1-way, with 40 intial torque, 45 acc, and 5 dec. the rear is set up like a 2-way, with 45 initial, 50acc, and 50 dec. i like using this setup on street cus it allows me to brake later while still being able to rotate the car as i enter the turn. as for dirt, i have no clue how to set up the LSD. so please help if you can, thanks!

*whew that was a long post*

OK, well i re-entered the race, and was up against a Renault SPort Clio this time, and i whooped him by about 5 seconds or so. i guess it was just that stupid TME Lancer that was giving me so much trouble? i dunno, but i guess i just have to work on my rally driving technique. it seems that the less aggressive you try to drive in the dirt, the faster you can actually go, haha. anyway, i would still like some input as to how to better set this car up for rally.
