Should be an awesome weekend with the 24 and the first weekend the navy will finally allow me to drink again. couldn't think of a better time to hit a bar and watch the race. Go Corvette! Go Audi!

@Duffers917K You do realise it's Larbre Compétition right? Not Labre. They are a pretty successful and famous team. ;)
I guess my spelling was rubbish yesterday, I wish I would've reread my post before submitting it. Made myself look like an idiot.

Just in, from AMR's twitter account:

Aston Martin Racing
Stefan Mücke will race at Le Mans. The issue surrounding his license will be decided in Germany but not until after the race.

Wrong decision IMO.

That right there is bs. He wants to be a fool on track? He can miss Le Mans, this is just letting him off the hook....

Well since he's going to make his way into the race, he better keeps his head down and manage his anger or he will be in a waaay massively bigger trouble.

Its not up to the team to decide that, they can do what they like with him..and considering he's not a slow driver its not surprising AMR are willing to overlook it and run him anyway.

Westbrook is in a Porsche as well this weekend... :scared:

I didn't know Porsche made big front engined V8 GT cars which are painted yellow? Cos that's what he's driving this week.

Besides what Westbrook did was an honest racing mistake.

Not a Porsche. This:

Anyway, I think Mucke will always give lots of space to Westbrook's car at La Sarthe. He surely remembers what the ACO did to Stuart Hall (and Aston Martin) in 2009 ;)

EDIT: Sorry, treed by Duffers917K :dopey:

No matter how much I love the V8 sound of those Corvettes, I can't help but think the livery they're sporting is plain dull.

Oh, and nothing against Westbrook. The guys on Radio Le Mans had a good discussion about him and they think that Westbrook's going to be a super-star in the sport for the future.

He already is a superstar, one of the best GT drivers for years now. Somebody needs t give him a go in a protoype.

The 'vettes are looking good again, this year, I'll agree with that. Looks better then what they had in 2010 or 2009, too, in my opinion.

Still, nothing comes close to the Flying Lizard GTE Pro RSR, in terms of liveries.

Well Corvette should've won last year, but they had problems, one of them Peugeot 908-shaped.

Found something interesting. Look at the design of the rims to be used by the M3s!

Looks a bit like the normal BBS wheels, just restyled. Aero?

Today the official site of the ACO made us all remember Michele Alboreto, died 10 years ago while testing for Audi.

It is a tribute to to another fallen hero of motorsports, F1 and Sports Cars mainly. Senna, nowadays remembered all over the world, was the last F1 driver to die in a F1, but not the last F1 driver to die at the wheel of a racecar.

The tribute on www.lemans.org is HERE

And features this picture of Alboreto in the 1999 Audi R8, the car that would, very improved, dominate Le Mans for a few years, starting in 2000.

I also found one of the first news about his death, at a time when what really happened to cause the crash(deflating/blown tire) was still not determined. Link

So, thanks ACO for remembering him to me and many others on this day. And RIP Michele, the italian gentleman and awesome (but quiet, and nice) F1 and Sports Cars driver.

A great driver. Wonder if Audi will carry some kind of remembrance on their cars for him?

They already did, it was the anniversary of his death during the Le Mans testing earlier in the year. All the R18s had a small tribute to him.

In fairness to them, I want to correct that it's more of "most of the race" versus just "some of the race". I didn't go through and count how many hours of coverage they devote to it, but it's a good bit and I believe in the past they've been good for covering at least fourteen hours of it, which is a majority. Importantly, they make sure that their coverage includes the start and finish.

Honestly, I don't see me watching all of their hours of coverage. I tend to catch the start and finish and then drop in and out in between. I do enjoy racing but sooner or later I need to step away.

I've been waiting for them to complete their F1 2011 spotter's guide. Half-way through the season it's basically useless unless someone is just starting to follow mid-way through the year.

Sorry about the F1 guide. To give you some context. A partner pulled out after I'd spent 30hrs on it and I've been unable to get another sponsor. It takes ages to do a guide and the F1 guide which was also the one which got ripped off by teams, sponsors, Facebook Fanatasy F1 league and even a GP last time I did one. The time I spend on these eats up other work time.

...but hope you enjoy the Free Le Mans Spotter Guide. Just released an update with all the new liveries from Scrutineering and have added a smaller PDF (iPad/iPhone etc) and a low res version for other mobiles.

Sorry for the double post, but this one is totally unrelated to the previous. Yesterday I wasn't able to watch the 24 minutes edition on eurosport so I looked for it today on Youtube.

It was a nice interview with Wurz, but what impressed me the most was the 2010 recap with the focus on the "barbecue" of the 4 (FOUR) Peugeots 908. Of course I watched it live last year, but watching it again, and seeing Bourdais, Quesnel and Chaunac in tears ... wow, I'm sure even Wurz got impressed.

Here for those that may have missed it. the 2010 recap starts at the 4:50 mark. Short and powerful:

Don't want them to do that mistake this week.

Btw: Go TEAM PEUGEOT TOTAL!!! :)
