24 hours of Le Mans: Race Report

Were walking down the pitbox, hoping to find the Pescarolo Sport team for an interview.

Whilst Trulli is still warming-up himself and his car for the 24 hours of Le Mans this afternoon, we're seing Loeb and Machiels walking down the pitlane discussing about the car and track.So we decided to find Ove Andersson, and we find himself busely discussing their pitstop strategy and car settings.So, again, we decided to not bother them as it is only 3 hours from now from the start.

Bram, did you ever dreamed of this, driving an LMP car?

No, absolutely not, after the Stars & Stripes Championship I decided to keep competing in that championship.But I was astonished, when I came home, Ove Andersson called me.He asked me if I would like to do a test session in the Pescarolo-Judd C60.


And what was your reaction?

I responded positive, offcourse.

So how went the test session?

Great, really great.The sense of speed is awesome, especially when you compare it to the Viper I drove in my previous championship.The car is much less in weight, has more power, incredible aerodynamics and some great set of tires.

And after the test session?

Well, Ove Andersson asked me if I could join them for a weekend as a preparation for the 24 hours of Le Mans.And after that weekend, giving them alot data, they offered me a contract for the 24 hours of Le Mans race itself.

Are you glad you joined this team or would you rather join the Bentley team?

No, I rather stick to Pescarolo Sport.I think we have a great chance on winning this event.

Especially with the drivers, because you got some serious fast team mates here.

Yeah, Sebastien Loeb and Jarno Trulli also joined Pescarolo Sport.Loeb is competing in the WRC and Trulli drives in F1, although we have no experience with 24 hour racing, I think we're ready for this.

16:00 pm: The Toyota GT-one starts the 2005 24 hours of Le Mans,mmediately pulling out a distance over the Nissan R390 GT1.The Pescarolo C60 wich Trulli drives at the moment is in 6th.

18:00 pm: Trulli has taken the lead on lap 3, pulling out a hugh lead resulting in a 3'13.316 fastest lap time on lap 5.

20:00 pm: Loeb is driving the Pescarolo now with a 2 lap lead over the Nissan R89C.Fastest car at the moment: BMW V12 LMR.

22:00 pm: The Pescarolo is still driving in the lead, the Nissan R89C 2th.

24:00 pm: Standings at the moment: 1.Pescarolo-Judd C60 2.Nissan R89C 3.BMW V12 LMR 4.Bentley Speed 8 5.Toyota GT-one 6.Nissan R390 GT1

2:00 am: New fastest lap time for Machiels: 3'13.106

4:00 pm: Everythings going normal at the moment, no incidents, no failures.

6:00 pm: The Pescarolo is going for a pit-stop, Machiels hands over the car to Trulli.

8:00 pm: Trulli is going really hard around the track, gaining constant 3'16 's.

10:00 pm: The Pescarolo is making another stop, Trulli gives Loeb the car.

12:00: The Nissan R89C just went off the track and is making a pit-stop.

2:00 pm: With only two hours to go, Machiels is driving really staidy not to damage anything.

4:00 pm: Machiels is driving the chequered flag with his Pescarolo-Judd C60.

I just finished a 24 hour race earlier today. I used the same car, but for the life of me I was not able to get near your Best Lap Time. My best var 3.21.170. Did you tune the car in any way?
My final lap count was 400 laps by the way 👍

In the whole entire world, I estimate that at least 100,000 people have completed the GT4 Nurburgring 24h race. Plus, there are many write-ups here on this board that say how people completed these races.

nice write up! and what a co-incidence! i too just completed the 24h du Mans......on the old layout though.....i drove it in the Sauber pulling 232mph on the Mulsaine and a fastest lap of 3'09.264 on one of my A-Spec stints....wasnt as fast as when i was testing my LMP's to see which i would use (the Jag wasnt far off the Saubers pace but i felt more stearing controll in the Sauber....my C60 was waaaay too touchy and the AMG CLK GTR was in the garage for repairs....now.....to take on the remaining 24h race in my new Bentley )



wont do it tomorrow though....im off to the pit walk at the USGP
.....will be wearing a yellow soccer jersy (has Corona on the back and Coca Cola on the front) and a Ferrari hat for anyone else planning to be there.....
