Hi all, I'm about to attempt the 24hr 'Ring, I have the X2010 but I don't want to use it (overkill) so I have the following in my locker:

Peugeot 908
Corvette ZR1 RM
Zonda R
Peugeot 905
Toyota GT-One
Minolta 88C-V
CLK LM
GT40 Race Car
S2000 GT1 Turbo
Raybrig NSX
Xanavi Nismo GTR
24 GTR Schulze
Ford GT Spec II
Cusco Dunlop Impreza

I just tried the Pug 908 on RS front, RM rear and it destroyed them in 2 laps. Not only that but it was understeering everywhere.

I just tried the N24 GTR on RH (for endurance) and it was last by the end of the first lap!

Which of the above would you choose and what setup would you use to get the best from the tyres. Thanks.

Strike = To heavy. You can end up racing with a LMP in the Pack.
Any LMP car < 1000KG, RS front, RM rear. Pit every 2 laps.
NEVER INCREASE PACE manualy, just let him drive. B-spec driver 35-40 level.
PS3 AI will screw up on there last lap they will not make 3 laps on RM tires thats why You must pit every second lap. Set up the pit stop system.
Watch out for rain. It will force pit stops and drivers will not pit stop correctly as rain tires last a lot longer.
This race now needs monitoring every 3 hrs. The new tire wear now forces you to check up on your drivers.

Currently 12 hours in, in the 905 and 7m ahead of the 787B in second place. 3rd is the Chapparel 2J, 1 lap behind. You definitely can't leave it to run; the Bobs run the tyres down to the canvas and lap half the lap at 50mph, losing any advantage I build up!

4 drivers required.. Drivers can't recover stamina if you only run 3.
Ring requires pit strategy, Lemans does not.

Yeah that's my main gripe with Le Mans, I understand the interest in realism to only have 3 drivers, but 10 hours in and the AI Audi drivers are pretty much spent. So I'm guessing the AI doesn't pit every lap in the second half of the 24 at the Ring...

Nope the AI never did on Le mans for me ether.
I can NEVER create that error, the drivers AI is so slow on le mans that they recover their stamina fully.
(Were as my bobs stamina is effected as they drive to fast at le mans.)
Only after their lap times are slow enough do bobs start to regenerate to full stamina. This then repeats in a loop. till it rains then they regenerate to full stamina.

The OP did not list a car that is fast enough to out do its weight handy cap and do 3 laps on 1 set off tires.
There is such a car its the Ford GT spec 2 test car tires runs out on final Straight of the ring and will auto pit stop as it completes third lap.

I used fully tuned Audi R8 '01 tune by Praiano.

My 4 B-Spec drivers were all level 35+ at the time.

I set them to pit at 30% level because track is long.

They finished 1st with 3 lap lead.

Was done post-spec 2.0, but before 2.0.2 was released.

So tire wear, AI behavior may be different now.

I think your Minolta would be way to go fully tuned.

Praiano has a great tune for it as well.

That's weird, I'm on my second run at Le Mans and the R8s started pitting every lap due to driver fatigue at nearly 12 hours. Which I thought was soon since on my first run it started happening at just 15. Its got to be due to how much stamina they lose due fights they get into with other cars. I also saw the pit pass through glitch happen to the Nissan R390, my driver smacked into the back of him on the mulsanne straight, sent him spinning on bald tires a couple times.

I'm doing this run with the Toyota GT-ONE and as of now the Pescarolo Hybrid overtook the factory R8 after being a lap down or so, and to further illustrate the difference in stamina the Audi drivers lost, the Pescarolo GV5 Judd has dug itself from 6th place to 3rd. So picture that podium: Toyota, Pesky, then Pesky.

Well I won with the Peugeot 905 but it was a slog. I used two drivers: Level 40 and Level 30.

I used RM front and RH medium. Bobs would do exactly 3 laps, with the rears down to the canvas on the final long straight. I was chased the whole way by the 787B but the 787B always went to do a third lap on tyres that were 3/4 spent so it would crawl the last 1/3rd of the lap, thus gaining me time. If it didn't do that I wouldn't have won. I also only filled 50 litres per stop (half a tank) to save an extra 30 seconds.

I checked in every hour or so to make sure Bobs were on track.

It rained in the last 3 hours, but luckily I had 3 laps in hand. The Chapparel 2J was lapping about 20 seconds faster per lap in the wet but he had to make up 3 laps and always wore his tyres down on lap 3 like the 787B. Doh!

24H 'Ring... done!

Trying this race again after my Bob's spectacular meltdown the last time :grumpy:

Using the Pug 908, started the race around 9pm last night so when I woke up this morning, they were 11 hours in, and it's wet.

In the dry I went with RH while everyone else was RM. I was able to manage 3 full laps before the tyres gave out, the only cars able to make the RM's last were the 2 Audi R8 (no, not the LMP1, the regular R8). They were able to go from 8th/9th to 3rd/4th on the third lap due to the others running out of grip half way around

As it stands before I left to go to work, those R8's are solidly 3rd and 4th, but 2 laps down on me. I'm doing 5 laps on the full wets and am about 6 minutes up on the 2nd placed McLaren LM.

edit: went home for lunch to monitor progress. Still leading but the McLaren has closed to gap to three and a half minutes now, still 100% raining and 8 hours to go.

edit 2: race is over and I timed my last stop pretty much to perfection (24 hours and 1 minute or so). Ended up as a dry finish (it was dry when I got home and had 4 hours left) so I was able to pull away from the Macca and won by around 8 minutes. The 2.03 patch was bugging me to login and install it but I wanted to finish this race first before doing that
