25 Years After Chernobyl

I know this weird but Chernobyl is apparently haunted.:scared:I saw Destinition Truth and they went there to see if it was haunted. They used the thermal image and they saw some human figures around the place.

How would ghosts show up on thermal imaging equipment? Was it possibly seeing the handful of residents who still live there? Still, if ghosts do exist, the exclusion zone would be a good place to look for them.

The clip is kinda silly but the chick looks great with the gun.
Lol, Yeah it's more infotainment than hard reporting, and I do agree with you. There is something hot about seeing her hoist that (comparatively) huge gun.

They show up on thermal because of their heat.(I think...)

I would think some kind of radio wave or EMF or similar would be used, not thermal, but I've never successfully captured any proof of ghosts myself. But yeah, if they exist, that would likely be a great place to look for them.

I'm far from an expert on ghosts and spirits, but surely they give off no heat signature? I guess they could give off a cold signature if the whole 'ghostly chills' stuff is right. Something to look into!

Enough off topic stuff though.

Disturbing...

That's the red forest ^

Holy 🤬

^ That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Holy 🤬 is right. Jesus, you actually can see the blast? cone. I've never seen any pics like that of Chernobyl before. I really kind of ignorantly thought that it was just always covered in snow. I wonder how deep in the forest the animals can/do live and if they are super mutated or not. I have to say, it's interesting how life will adapt to even the radioactivity of a disaster like this.

The animals in the area are fine, no mutation has been reported despite ongoing monitoring and testing, even to animals like bears that hibernate under the heavily contaminated earth.
The fences around the containment area are poorly maintained and wildlife comes and goes as it pleases, deer even use the relative safety of the fenced area to bring up young, before they leave to live in the 'outside' world.
As for where they live, everywhere. In the buildings in Pripyat, in the forests surrounding the plant, everywhere.

Seems the only change that has registered with the wildlife is that there are very few humans around to bother them!

That's really impressive and (for me) lends much credit to the evolutionary process and adaptability of life despite the environment surrounding it. We've known that life develops on a smaller scale in even superheated water, at ocean depths where no ever light penetrates, in completely otherwise toxic plumes of volcanic minerals. But, it's interesting to actually see examples where life is adapting to an environment that by all rights, should be lethally toxic to it. It's like forced evolution in a way. If nature becomes stronger from a catastrophe like this, it is truly an amazing ability.

Considering that thousands of people died in a gruesome way, it's not surprising that it's haunted.

At first, they say, that on tours that they used to have, people found the emptiness of the city terrifying, which is why the tours weren't successful. Now there are ghosts there as well? Wow.

I think all of us here at GTP should organize a trip to Chenboryl one day. You need a government permit to go there, I believe. I'll let YOU guys sort that out

I won't be going to that trip! Ghost are :scared:!!

If ghosts are guaranteed, I'm in. Radioactive ghosts are probably much cooler than normal ghosts.

I actually heard that even the migratory birds that visit the area during the warmer months have built immunity to the radiation. It's quite incredible that even birds that only spend 4-5 months a year in the contaminated area have already adapted!

This is going to be a fun field trip! :) I did a search on the migratory birds and it seems to be quite true after all. Very impressive indeed. This article's title "Migratory birds more susceptible to Chernobyl like radiation, says study" suggests that they might not be, but when you scan to the bottom it simply describes natural selection at work. Some birds are going to be more adaptive than others and so some will flourish and some will leave or die. The Pripyat.com site seams to confirm that life is doing fine in the area. 👍 Too bad we humans aren't as physically adaptive as some of the things we eat. Though I would not eat anything from there obviously.

Perhaps it's the relative short lifes of the animals that makes them able to shrug of the effects of radiation? Like cancer doesn't have time to develop?

Also I think I read somewhere that a species of birds had changed colour.

I think a better question to ask is what does the Russian government plan to do with the containment unit that is crumbling away with time? Last i heard the funding kind of went south so to speak for the new one that has been currently under constructiuon since 2007?

I want to play that one game now more than ever.
This was a sad event, however, we learned much about the incident. 👍

I have always been interested about Chernobyl. The bike road trip was amazingly surreal. The silencie in all those villages must be terifying.

Some people mentioned videos and documentals. Links?

The new containment structure is pretty much ready to be rolled over the blown reactor. Not 100% certain but I think a PDF I read on the project said it would be completed during 2012. Something this important would not be allowed to be neglected by the nuclear councils.

Going over previous pages helps. Quite a bit actually. You should try it yourself. :dunce:

Don't be such a girl. I'm afraid of ghosts too, only thing i'm afraid of, in fact. But my large amounts of curiosity on the topic of the paranormal cancels that out ,and I end up watching tons of Ghost Adventures every Friday and Saturday night.

Would be awesome to do it for ourselves. We should actually consider this

UKGTPI, the Ukraine GTPlanet meetup, in Cernboryl. Bring your GT5 and PS3's

If all anyone wants to see is ghosts, Bobby Mackey's is only maybe 20 minutes from my place. We can see all kinds of spiritual disturbances and stuff there without worrying about sterilization and other fun radioactive after affects. I want to see angry mutant animals personally......

Think of it like this...
A ghost comes and touches you...Then Grabs you!...Then eat out your brains!!

That is how I imagine it.Some may say I'm overeacting but it might just happen...:nervous:

The "eat your brains" bit was joke.
