Great job Lav. The way I drive makes me pit twice its annoying. I'll improve upon my time at some point 2day.

thanks, but its not much of a qualifying session with only two people. hopefully people arent waiting until the last minute to post their times...

as everyone should know the times during qualifying.

Arrrrrrrr .... ok, you've talked me into it. I'll be entering Race 1 tomorrow. Don't expect anything miraculous. But I can't stand those other two, so don't even think about it.

thanks! let me tell you, i was very surprised about the margin you beat my 787 midfield time. i set what i thought was a flawless lap thinking that was good enough only for you to get a 55.389, I haven't tried it other than the one time but still very impressive time. I'm sure i will never get bored of gt3 now that i have some real stiff competition!

i usually rely on villeneuve's tuning ( no, i'm not an idiot but he's a bit better in that department.......in terms of our driving, we are nearly identical........whatever i get with a car, he can do the same...i don't know if i'll try or not .....i might give it a go

Seeeeeeeee .... what's the point in trying? There are people in our own community that can absolutely blow us away! I'm only going to enter because it's the 787B ... but I know I'm going to be pretty low in the list.

That brings up a point I believe I failed to make a while back. I was watching two of my friends race one evening. One guy was hugging the turns, breaking and accelerating pretty smoothly. The other guy was slaming into walls at every turn, barely touching his breaks, and holding the accelerator down -most- of the race. I tried to tell him that "going as fast as possible isn't always the quickest way around the course." Sometimes you need to just cruise through a curve, not even worrying about flooring it coming out the other side. The last left (hairpin) at Midfield is a good example. His responce was, "if you're not going fast, then you're not in front." All I did was point at the screen. He had been lapped twice already in an eight lap race (:

I think what I'm trying to say is ... take it easy. Calm, relaxed, focused driving will get you down the road so much quicker and more accurately than trying to see how far into a turn you can get before you go to the breaks, or how close you can cut a corner. Also, being more gentle on the car will make those tires last another lap, which will drop off a whole pit for you. That's 18 seconds for the total run, bro. You'd be ahead of Lav01 by 8 seconds!

Well, that sounds like I'm preaching. I best stop. Maybe I can take my own advice when I sit down tomorrow to make my run at it.

I feel your pain, brother.

I got a limited shot at this over the weekend - if only I could learn to drive that 787 on its rears, not its fronts...

I take it all existing members can partake in this challenge also! I plan on popping home for Lunch so I'll have a few runs at the 1st race.

Mr. P are you gonna post some times aswell. We need to generate some more interest in the series. I'm thinking of attaching a link to my signature somewhere.

I'll be back soon with some times ;)

I just realized ... that means that anyone that wants to enter has to be almost completely finished with the arcade mode. That's a good thing, and a bad thing. It cuts way back on the people that can even enter times, but it also weeds out those of lesser competetive class.

I have mixed feelings. But it is interesting to think about. I'm going to make a couple runs at it now.

That's a good point about people having to have completed Arcade to be able to compete. Then again it would only take a 1/2 decent player to complete Arcade from scratch in about 3-4 hours max.

I had a crack at Race # 1 at Lunch to see what I could do around R5 in the 787B! You had to use a similar strategy to the previous race at Deep Forest using the R390. You basically have to try preserve your tires as much as possible because by lap #4 there normally getting redish and very slippery. So You don't want to go flat and try and get the fastest lap on every lap but a more careful approach is needed to try and conserve the tires!

Anyway enough babbling and some lap times.

First Attempt. Took me a few laps to work out breaking points and get used to the handling.

Lap # 01 - 1:21.784 Messy lap with lots of hits from AI cars.
Lap # 02 - 1:13.588
Lap # 03 - 1:13.670
Lap # 04 - 1:14.349
Lap # 05 - 1:39.350 Pit in
Lap # 06 - 1:14.437 Pit out
Lap # 07 - 1:11.806 Fastest Lap ;)
Lap # 08 - 1:12.525
Lap # 09 - 1:12.410
Lap # 10 - 1:22.577 Nasty crash

Total Race Time - 12:56.496
