Anyone have a good setup for the Citroen GT Road Car? By all means it should be able to do 300 mph, but every time I drive it, it is spears off in the mid-200 mph range.

Edit: Nevermind, I got it and broke 300 mph.

I did realize after I took this a lot of people took the shot from a different angle, but you can see in the top left its position 1 of 1, so it's legit. Maxed right at 300 with the NOS and it actually reached it after I was well off the hill.

  1. Ford GT40 Mark I '66 (847 hp)

This is not actually a road car. No Ford GT40's of Mark I nor Mark II were made as road cars. They were all made as race cars and some of them were eventually converted over by later owners. The only GT40's that were made as road cars were the Mark III's, of which only 9 were made I think and they weren't very popular. That is where we get into the whole gray area of road vs race cars because the performance of race cars aren't necessarily better than street cars and older ones like the GT40 are so close to road cars. Performance wise the street cars are still better in a straight line with the pp set evenly, and street cars in GT6 can be given features that make them much more than road cars, with features such as flat floors that aren't even on most race cars in the game, and nitros. In top speed test though, the flat floors actually hurt and they knocked 30 MPH off my Viper. Then there is the whole if concept cars should count and cars like the NSX LM even though they are truly race cars with plates, but that's a debate for another forum. Bottom line though is that the GT40 Mark I is not a road car.

Undoubtedly you're correct, but I was assuming the game treated it as a road car by its ability to use NOS and the fact that it comes with sports tyres stock. Reading the car information though, it's clearly refering to the Lemans races so I guess it's a race car with an identity crisis

While in real life you are correct, the issue is that in the game the GT40 Mark I is indeed considered a road-car as it is eligible in any races that are restricted to "non-racing" cars.
Edit: And as far as the NSX LM is concerned, it is a road car. While it is nothing but a race car with plates, it is an entirely reasonable concept as such cars have been made for ages ie, Nissan R390, Ferrari GTO '84, etc.
Edit Edit: Just for stats the Mark III had 107 built, but only 31 were actually used for road cars.

Interesting, I wonder where I got the 9 from. Yeah cars like the R390 and NSX and such are no doubt road cars, it's just that perception people have about the street cars vs the race cars and especially when playing GT6 online. It seems online is dominated by people who belittle those who drive a race car because its "easy" or whatever when you can make the street equal to or greater than race cars. That's not happening in this thread or anything, a bit of an off topic rant on my part, lol. But yeah, if we are counting the GT40 on the game counting it as a street car then the Ferrari FXX I saw talked about earlier in thread should go on the list too? I don't know if it's still like this, but when I was playing the game just after release I was doing a race that was street car only but there were AI drivers with the FXX, so the game was counting it as a street car as well.

I'll double-check the FXX, if the case is that it can be used in non-race car races, I'll add it.
Edit: Added the FXX

Pic doesn't show up for me I'm afraid. I'll need about 12million more credits for the Miura anyway, so I won't know for a little while :P

Just for fun, I tried testing a few FF cars and their top speeds... best I managed was 438km/h or 272mph.

The pic shows 293 mph in the Miura. Also, I don't remember what the exact speeds were, but I managed high 270's/low 280's in the SRT SRT4 and Mitsubishi ECLIPSE GT '06.

All my runs have been on racing softs offline. Basically I just tweak the transmission slowly until I get the right settings.

I don't do my 300 mph runs in the "Like the Wind" race. I do it in the Stage X in a test run.

Edit: My personal tranny setting are Max Speed: 286, Final Drive: 3.200. That should get you to 310 mph+

ths for the settings on the tranny ... I reread ur thread an fooled around a bit getting it now.. did my tests in game to help pay for the cost of upgrades..never tried the test track again ths for the help

I hit 300 in a matte pink 2009 Veyron in the SSRX Like The Wind race. Fully tuned with nitrous.

When I hit 300, I was disappointed since I wanted to hit it in another car (Ford GT), but it was too late. Since I made a half-assed tune in the course of a minute, I would completely lose all steering beyond 270 MPH. I had to let go of the gas to steer away from the wall.

Now I have a question: Is it really worth having this club now? Looking at the 300 MPH Club threads for GT4 and earlier games seems like a much more exclusive thing. Reading epic posts of people using Toyota Minolta 88CV's and others to hit 300 sounded really cool. Now it just seems "meh" since so many cars can hit that magic number, with relatively little effort. It's like anyone can do this now, back in other games, it sounded rare for people to hit these speeds without glitching or modding. Just my $0.02.

GT4 had about the same amount, if not more cars that could break 300mph but some of them took some odd tuning to do so. Anyone could do it back then though, once they knew how to tune for it. (I should know... I broke over 20 records)

In GT6, however, suspension settings have little if any effect and it's therefore a much less interesting thing to do, especially without the speed test feature just yet. I guess that's why so many people prefer the drag racing instead.

I don't find it as anything extremely fun to do, it's sort of a secondary, "I wonder if?" sort of thing that I do in spare time. I did it a lot in GT4 and I would say that it really wasn't much more interesting and it really wasn't very hard.

I have a question for you all... Are you using full weight also along with no nitrous or drafting?? I'm talking about the Nissan GTR R35 in particular. Thanks!! Zach

No, it's fully tuned, lightened, and with the use of nitrous. No drafting though.

How does this not start the debate?

Or this response from thread starter?

Yes, that's what started it and that's what resolved it. You carried it on and took the thread further off topic.

Now, back to the topic.
