Italian race car constructor Dallara is developing a standalone sports car.

Dallara has helped a number of OEM with engineering work for various road cars and is now using the lessons learned in the development of those cars for its own model.

A prototype has just been spotted for the Dallara sports car which is shaping up to be a small, lightweight model in the same vein as the KTM X-Bow. It will be street-legal, though its natural environment will be the race track.

Dallara’s car won’t be as punishing as the KTM, however, and will even come with a jet fighter-style canopy integrating a pair of gullwing doors. By the looks of things, this canopy will be removable.

According to Autocar, power will come from a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 sourced from Ford. The engine will be mounted behind the cabin and spin the rear wheels only. Peak output is expected to be in the vicinity of 400 horsepower.

Production is expected to be capped at around 600 units over a five-year period. The production will be handled at Dallara’s main site in Parma, Italy.

The reveal will take place in November.

Excited to see the final result. Sounds like it will be incredibly fast, but I wonder how heavy the car is.

-> Finally! After building all these race cars, they finally build a road car! Kudos for them!

Is it going to be a single seater with the seat and steering wheel in the middle of the cockpit?

I guess nobody knows the correct answer right now.

Anyone noticed it too, the sports car doesn't have doors.

Judging from the spy pics, it'll be a 2 seater. The doors also look like those normally found on LMP cars.

Pretty neat. Looks like one of those very short-run crazy supercars from the 90s that they were going to do limited runs on that they ultimately never did any runs out of.

nvm might have misinterpreted your comment

Waiting for it as a racer. :D Great looking car, absolutely fantastic start for Dallara's first foray into the road car market.

I'm certainly glad they appear to have kept the body styling relatively sane (and yet very Italian). Most street legal track toys look like they have no business being on public roads whatsoever, which kinda defeats the point of making them street legal in the first place. Without the bubble canopy or mighty wing in place, most people wouldn't even suspect that it's a cleverly disguised track beast.

Only 600 will be produced over a five-year period? I need to win Euromillions NOW as in, ... this friday.

Tried to find information of the revealing of the Dallara, today but to no avail. So it is up to you @DeadHero to keep us updated. :D

Thanks for the heads up. Appreciated. 👍

I really like this. Price seems quite reasonable for what it is, if you can look beyond the Focus powertrain. The windshield-less version is especially attractive.
