You read it right. Confirmed without much fanfare in a press release from 505 celebrating the record sales of €100 million.

MILAN, Italy – Feb. 9, 2021 – Driving simulation development specialist, Kunos Simulazioni and owner Digital Bros, have today unveiled record sales of €100M across all platforms.

Kunos Simulazioni, established in 2005 by founders Marco Massarutto and Stefano Casillo, was created with the goal of developing industry leading driving simulation software. In 2013, Assetto Corsa went into early access on Steam, quickly becoming a must own for sim racing enthusiasts upon its full launch in December 2014. In August 2016, Digital Bros subsidiary, publisher 505 Games, released the game on PS4 and Xbox One and Assetto Corsa reached an entirely new console audience. The studio was purchased by Digital Bros in 2017. The franchise’s exponential growth has continued, with the release of Assetto Corsa Competizione on Xbox One and PS4 in 2020, with the game coming to next gen consoles later this year.

This is official. Coming to you straight from 505 games.

I’d assume Kunos won’t handle the next gen version themselves either.

Grain of salt.... Kunos would know about the next gen version, and Marco would mentioned it in the interview.
For now it's the only "non oficial announcement" for sure.

Could be a typo of the the one that wrote the article also.

If it was coming straight from 505 they would announced it in their social media and Community's

I prefer to wait and let's see...

Kunos have said time and time again that they don’t make and don’t comment on the console version of the game.

A little scepticism is generally healthy, but in this case it seems a bit misguided.

Did you see the interview of Marco here on GTP talking about consoles version and next gen?

In my point of view, I pick the Web source you send with a grain of salt and prefer to wait an "oficial announcement"

The "web source" I sent is a press release from 505 games. You know... the guys who are actually handeling the console versions of ACC.

There´s not a lot of wiggle room for different interpretations here...

Let´s gooooooooooo. Can´t wait.

I´m actually already having a great time with it on PS5, but I can´t wait for higher resolution and (hopefully) more AI cars.

read article to notice sentence stating ps5 and xsx version in 2021
When we spoke to Marco Massarutto of Kunos last week, he suggested that a version of ACC for the new machines was in the works, but gave a time frame of one or two years to “see the true potential” of the consoles.

However it now seems that the game will arrive a good deal sooner than that, with an official press release stating that the game is “coming to next gen consoles later this year”. Precisely when this will be is very much up in the air right now, though we’d expect it to be later rather than sooner.

multiplayer should be cross platform with pc but probably will be another cheap conversion from not very talented 3rd studio

Most important things to improve for me are -

Graphics - the limitations imposed to make the game run on PS4 need to be lifted and we want to see what the new consoles can really do.
Car count - Get rid of the 20 car limit and let us run big grids just like the real GTWC races both offline and online.
Parity with PC version - there have been too many issues with the porting of the game over to consoles. A reset in a PS5/Series X version allows them to get the annoying things right, like the button mapping issues etc. These should be fixed anyway, but to have a PS5 version that is as close to the PC experience as possible would be great and would put ACC at the top of all racing games in the console world.

I don't think they have to, but I'm not sure.

Most games I've had prior to the switch I got free upgrades to the PS5 version when they became available... Fifa, WRC9, No Man's Sky

It is official. It literally comes from 505 Games and the UK press agency for 505 Games, Alfred London. The guy whose name is on there (and it is the best name of anyone I deal with in either industry) is the guy that sent me the preview code for the PS4 version of ACC for our review.

Edit: Sorry, @GlamFM, I never saw your earlier thread. I've merged them together into the article thread (so it has the article title and comments link, but you're still the first post).

Is there not a stipulation from Sony/Microsoft that games from previous gen platforms have to be offered as free upgrades to players if they get dedicated new gen versions?
Nope. I think it was an NBA game (the exact one escapes me) that charges $10 more for the upgrade.

Oh really? Ah, that would be a shame to have to pay a fee to access the PS5 version... Not gonna lie though I'll still end up doing it (probably their justification actually)

I don't think they have to, but I'm not sure.

There was a date Sony put out that all games releasing after had to do this. ACC came out few weeks before. Could possibly offer a discount to digital copy owners but I’d take this for what it is as a completely separate release and expect to have to pay again. By then it will have all the content included I would hope.

It’s not required, but MS encouraged devs to make the updates free. So if a publisher chooses not to it’s just for pure greed/profit
