426 hemi all the way. It is without a doubt the best motor Mopar ever designed. The head design concept is still being used today in top fuel, and many production cars of today.

I'm not sure the 440 is lighter than the 426 block. I don't know for sure though.

I like the big blocks, but I really love the 340. What power out a small block engine!

340? Why not the 360 or 383? Just askin

I prefer the 383. For street driving it makes plenty of HP and then some.
The 413, 426,and 440, are track beasts.
But of the two you picked...Stock the 426 with the dual 4 bbl carbs is the faster of the two.
Plus it's way easier to set up two 4 bbls than to get the "six-pack" humming perfectly.

the 426 hemi has those HUGE heads. their REALLY big. thats way i think the 440 is lighter. i think the 426 hemi boclk is heavier then the 440s too. cuz it has to be able to fit those big hemi heads.

OK. the hemi is heavier, yeah, but their power is overwhelming. the combustion chamber design makes COMPLETELY for the extra weight. six pack option? you HAD to have a six pack option in yer 440 to KEEP UP with a HEMI with the crossram intake (two two-barrel carbs). heavy? yes. but still, the most brutal motor ever made. I pity the fool who change a HEMI for a 440. someday a hemi thing will kick their asses and then they will know. ask richard petty. when the new race-hemi was released for nascar, he chose the non aero road runner and finished TEN seconds ahead of the second place max wedged aero charger in some nascar race that year. wanna more proof? art chrisman used some max wedge stuff on some of his dragsters... one day his motor blew, and he swaped in a 426 STREET hemi... and he got almos the same figures with the street elephant (426) as he got with the BLOWN 440.

cheaper? please. if you are going for monsters like that... youd want something cheap? if you want someting cheap, get a 318 poly. 'sides... you want six pack options? look for a cragar manifold on a swap meet. they allowed up to EIGHT carbs to be bolted to a 426. ALL hooked up. heh.

haven't you heard about how richard petty cheated. he had motors that were like 50 ci. to big but NASCAR let him go. thats how he could wait till the last 5 laps or so and suddenly get a big boost of speed and make the pass for the lead, but thats just what i heard. it does make sense though. he did make nascar alot of money. so why not let him win a few....200 races?

O-o whoa, never heard about that. I just remebered wgat I read a while ago, dont even remember where.

Cano

still, the elephant wins (:

Actually, practically everyone cheated back then. But NASCAR let them because it made good ratings. They stopped it though due to it getting to dangerous.

BTW, all of Richard Petty's career winnings totals up to only a little over $1 Million. Remember, that was back then, the winning purse wasnt as much as now...

I know that you stupid fart, I was just commenting on the fact that you used a large font, indicating a shout, and that I couldn't hear you.
