I mean...come on!

F40_wp0_400.jpg

My all time favorite car...need I explain myself?

Absolutly gorgeous...isn't it?

When luxury is the most important...but speed is still there :)

And for when I am feeling insane :-D

A green European spec Land Rover Defender with all the extra off-road goodies I could think of, tons of lights, big tires, winch, bullbar, etc. It would have to have both the canvas and hardtop roof attachments as well.
image_large.php

An orange Datsun 510 with some sort of small turbocharged four cylinder in it.
datsun510.jpg

A Blue MINI Cooper JCW with white bonnet stripes and a Union Jack on the roof. I really like my car but something a bit fastest would always be nice.
my_mini.jpg

A red Alfa Romeo Brera, I think it's a great looking car and I would assume a bit practical as well given that it's a hatch.
imgalfa%20romeo%20brera1.jpg

A Kryton Green Lotus Elise for the sheer fact that it's one of the most awesome cars in an equally awesome colour.
Lotus_Elise_Florida_Beach5.jpg

These are my choices while still being (relatively) reasonable. And in these specific colours

1) Daily driver
1439530136_b8411b54e8.jpg

2) Weekend cruiser
V8_Vantage_small.jpg

3) Family/multi purpose car. Especially important when theres like 3ft of snow during the Canadian winter

And two toys

These are by no means cheap cars but i think they are much more reasonable and "obtainable" (with the scud being a bit of an exception)than listing 5 super cars off the top of my head.

1) Daily driver. My '08 Si sedan, possibly turbocharged for about 270hp.

2) Truck. Useful for the winter, cargo, and as a support vehicle. Ram 3500 dually, Cummins, chipped for 600hp - good for scaring the bejezus out of anyone.

3) Muscle car. Black w/white stripes 1970 Chevelle with a 572 and T-56 swap. Twin turbos if I can be so greedy. Plenty of tire on the back end as well. ;)

4) Supercar. White LP640 Roadster.

5) Luxury. S65 AMG, black, unrestricted.

6 (the 5th-wheel trailer being pulled behind the Ram ;) ) Track car. Dark gray Skyline GT-R R-32, ~800hp, full suspension, cage, slicks, and so forth. Barely legal to be on the road.

I don't mean to under estimate turbochargers, but you think a turbo charge is really going to add 70 more horsepower? Besides that, I don't think the FWD system on the Si is really made for nearly 300 horse power.

There is a kit for our Si's that brings it to 250hp. It wouldn't be impossible to get another 20hp with some other modifications. I know there are several RSX's with 350hp, and they are pretty similar to the Civics. But for the sake of this thread, I don't really care. ;)

I did not know that. Still doesn't seem like the drivetrain is really made for it, but that's me. I'd look more into it now that you've brought it up, but lately I've began to regret ever getting my Si. It just isn't driven as much, and I've already began working with the TL making the Si rather pointless, now. :indiff:

BUT...back on topic. :)

1) '69 Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet - everyday driver (I'd have to update the brakes, suspension, and electronics... and have the body made out of a lighter material if possible)
2.jpg

2) 430 Scuderia - track car / mountain driving
f430_scuderia_4-800-600.jpg

3) '02 NSX-R - everyday driver / track car
2.jpg

4) '09 F-150 - towing, load-carrying
Cardatavideo-FordF150PickupTruck2009PlatinumEdition599.jpg

5) Not sure between an Evo X, '96 Escort RS Cosworth, or Delta HF Integrale - for a more sensible everyday car that's still not out of place on a track.

2. This Hakosuka GT-R - old school fun car

3. Mercedes Sprinter - big van/truck

4. GT-R V - new school fun car.

5. Argo 8x8 Avenger 750 EFI :D

4) BMW X6 (yes I do need a bit of an off-roader)

I've driven this. It's a wonderful toy, and fun to toss around on a mountain road, but it's about as good an off-roader as a Subaru Impreza. Which is to say, it isn't.

If you want a real off-roader, take a page from Joey's book and get a Land Rover.

----

Since some people are assuming they'll need a 4x4 at some time or another, maybe I should have included my pick?

suzuki_jimny.jpg

Suzuki Jimny... this is one "modern" ute that's actually capable off-road... solid axles, front and rear, a robust 4WD system with a high-low transfer case, available in turbodiesel (1 liter, FTW! runs on veggie oil and grit!) and with a few choice mods, as capable as a mountain goat.

If I had maybe $300k or so right now to spend on 5 cars this is what I would probably get:
Yes, I am trying to be at least somewhat realistic ;)

2009 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Sport (Hauler, tow vehicle):

(All black and de-chromed)

2008 BMW E92 M3 (Every day car):

(Though, without the funky body kit, but with those sexy BBS wheels and in white with a carbon fiber roof)

2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR (Track car):

(Yellow with black wheels and naked carbon fiber aero parts)

2008 Audi R8 (Weekend or every day car):

(Black with carbon fiber blade)

1989-1994 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R (Project car):

(White and with various mods, including a nice set of 17" wheels of some sort)

Which of the 2 model X6s, have you driven? I've had the pleasure of seeing what a V8-equipped X5 will do, so I'm itching to see just what the X6's bigger model is made of.

Wasn't that what Clarkson used last season in Top Gear for his little hunt with Hammond?

Okay, I might sub the Sprinter for an F-650, but the Argo stays!

Ideally, the truck would compensate for the lack of space consumed by the Argo, but the Argo is already almost the size of my hyundai.

After doing some thinking, I'd have to swap the LP560 for an '09 F-150. For towing and load-carrying capabilities 'n all that.

Cardatavideo-FordF150PickupTruck2009PlatinumEdition599.jpg

If only every LP560 owner popped down to their local Ford dealer and did that. Detroit would be saved within the hour.
I don't think there are enough LP560 owners to make a difference.

Besides, the Ford dealers would want to charge MSRP+50-75k for the used Gallardo. :dopey:

And my Cummins Ram might also be swapped for an F-450 or F-650. I'd need to drive them. =P

Woot! You guys are all going to give me funny looks...

I posted this in the imports thread. I've fallen in love with it. I'd turn it into a daily kind of car car, which means it'd be tuned out but livable on a long trip. Just like that one, too. Blue on white. Fat and heavy, but gorgeous.
main.php

My "normal" car would have to be usable all year-round. But of course it's gotta have sporty potential because I simply can't leave a car alone. A few choice suspension mods will turn my Forester into a fun, AWD, cruise-the-highway-or-trudge-through-a-foot-of-powder beast:
2009_subaru_forester_press_image_1.jpg

And just to make sure it's year-round capable, I'd own three sets of wheels for it. Sporty summer tires, some run of the mill all-seasons for spring and fall, and some hardcore snow tires that would go on specifically for snow or near-zero temps.

Thirdly, I need truck. Gotta have a truck.
f250.jpg

With tons of BANK'S power mods. And you can see why I'd have the truck in that picture--gotta haul around the autocross car with cross-eyed tires! That's a smart man right there.

Fourth, I'd keep the Si I have now. But I'd convert it into an all-out autocross car, similar this, but more autocrossy and less tracky (minus the rear wing, not as low IMO, more track width, crazier alignment, etc.):
17.jpg

10.jpg

Imagine a coupe version. HELL YES.

The fifth spot would be reserved for that trailer. Every good American needs a well cared-for car trailer.

EDIT: Okay, no funny looks then. I didn't realize so many people picked off-the wall stuff!

That's considering the fact every LP560 owner was wanting to trade in their cars without wanting the extra $100K+ the car is still worth.

Which of the 2 model X6s, have you driven? I've had the pleasure of seeing what a V8-equipped X5 will do, so I'm itching to see just what the X6's bigger model is made of.

3 liter twin turbo. 306 hp. Not Evo epic, but pretty bloody quick, anyway... could probably hit 100 km/h in under seven seconds.

It's categorically better than the X5. Active anti-roll bars make it slalom like a sportscar and the new X-Drive active differentials will, if you have enough grip, pivot the car on its belly button and squirt you out of turns. It's a very subtle effect on longer corners, but in hairpins, it's damn impressive. Think of the X6 as a Nissan GTR (hey, they're both twin-turbo sixes with ultra-sophisticated electronically controlled AWD) that's twice as tall, twice as heavy and half as quick. That's what it feels like. Incredibly responsive, incredibly stable and incredibly quick (for a truck).

I don't honestly know if the V8 X6 would be categorically better than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. In fact, I don't know if either would be categorically better than your typical turbocharged hot hatch, which could run rings around either on the racetrack, despite the lesser acceleration. Whatever tuning trickery they have, they're still trucks. They'll still understeer like pigs if you go into a corner too hot (unlike the GT-R, neither truck has trick rubber) and the extra mass and inertia means they're not going to be as wieldy at high speeds. Oh, and the X6's brakes cook as easily as Velveeta in a microwave. There's also the sneaking suspicion that the X5 could go just as fast as either car if you gave it the same twin-turbo V8, trick differentials, anti-rollbars and steamroller tires as the X6 (which has ungodly supercar-sized 285mm tires in the rear)

Who cares, though? The X6 is just damn sexy. It's pointless, yes. It carries only four people. But since when did the ability to seat 5 make the Cayenne practical? And none of these cars are worth a damn off-road... not even the vaunted Cayenne, which, with its "sport-comfort" rubber can't dig its way out of a mosh pit. If I had to pick one car out of this bunch, it'd be the X6.

But I wouldn't be picking it because I need an off-roadable 4x4. I'd still go for a Jimny. Oh... or this:

bj40%207.JPG

Of course, if I had to use it for towing, I'd probably slot a Chevy smallblock into it...

Great summary, then. 👍 Guess I need to go to see it for myself sooner than I thought. :)

Man, I thought even among BMW enthusiasts, that I was the only person who really loved the X6. :dopey: I agree, though. I think it looks great.

I'm afraid the Nighthawk won't fit the garage though, that would be in my 5-Plane Hangar.
