5 Ford plants being closed -12000 jobs lost

Truck plant in Oakville, Ontario is being shut down - 1500 jobs lost
and 4 others in the States are being closed ......one in St. Louis
doesn't sound too good for all those workers

Yep, I've been to the one here. They make the Explorer here. Who knows, maybe they'll put a Mazda factory there. That would be sweet.

i can't believe someone replied to this stupid thread .....i thought it was doomed forever ..........yeah, that would be cool if they used the place to build Mazdas ....Mazdas are way more appealing to me than Fords anyways

Thank you for understanding this! One of my freinds says that Mazdas suck, but then again, this is comeing from someone who thinks the new Altima is more of a sports car than the Miata, and when I told him that "sports car" is just a classification, and that if he looks under sports car in magazines and on the web, that the Altima won't be there, he said "But it's still faster than the Miata. And he wouldn't drop it for nothing. I said that I know it's faster, but it's not a sports car.......

But I think they should turn the ST.Louis plant into an RX-8 prodution line.

you're friend's obviously not too bright ......a Mercedes M55 AMG is also faster than an Altima or Miata but it's a sport-utility not a sports car
i don't know about the RX-8 production line though ......that sounds a little too hopeful .......good try though

That is a shame to all those workers. I really feel bad. Imagine your family not having enough income because the father lost his job. Pretty sad huh?

In august, my dad went on strike for a month, and this was right after we were on vacation, so we were low on the dowe, and we had to cut down on going out to eat......so for all those guys, their going to suffer. But they are skilled workers, so hopefully someone will hire them with good pay.

True, I know Harley Davidson is looking for some assembly line workers here in PA. They pay damn good to with the best benefits you can get. I know how it feels to be cutting back we had to do that a little bit last year.

Have to disagree with this. If he thinks an Altima is a sports car in the same mould as a Miata, his head is obviously inserted between his cheeks!

well didnt Nissan relesed a 6 Cylinder Altima ?? wouldnt that blow away a miata?? I know my 90 nissan maxima killed this 1/2 way mod up Miata . And the new Altimas have more HP than my car.

you're right, it is faster. But that doesn't make it a sports car, it makes it a sports sedan. It's a classification. Sports cars are 2 doors. The altima is 4.

And he does know a lot about cars, just not the classification. I'll get him to see this later if he's online. He'll be pissed

To me sports cars aren't about the number of doors (Merc CL600 a sports car? Didn't think so!). They're about being rapid on a twisty country back road. I would take someone on in an V6 Altima if I were driving a Miata, and I would EXPECT to win. That's why the Miata is a sports car and the Altima is not. Traffic light shootouts have nothing to do with being a sports car.
