Is that so? Good news indeed, then, for I am planning to buy GT5 in the following years, once it is released, and everyone else has spent 3 years playing it, just like with GT4 :lol

I have a feeling when GT5 comes out, there will be a penalty system...hopefully it'll be even better than it is now, especially for online play. Online racing against other humans seems to be where most of the current problems lie. The Ai (like I said) has been much improved.

If you take a turn too hot and wind up in the grass, when you pull back on-track, the Ai now definitely takes as much precaution as possible not to simply ram into you as in previous Gts. They swerve a lot more. 👍 The only time I've seen them hit another car (or me) is if they honestly haven't got enough time to react. 👍

when rally, turn enough to let your back hit the walls, no penalty's than!!

This works to some extent if it's spontaneous. In other words, if my car slides to the point that the back-end (or side) runs against a wall, there will be no penalty. But I definitely don't plan any wall-hits. That seems counter-productive. Typically, the car will bounce after contact has been made, which means energy/momentum will be lost that needs to be re-managed, if that makes any sense.

Any sort of wall/guardrail contact = lost time, so I always strive not to go there. When it happens, it's always unintentional on my part. The best lap times occur when we've taken the cleanest, most efficient lines possible (assuming we don't have to modify such lines to avoid Ai-penalties).

Good to hear the AI improved 👍 And let's hope it'll get even better in GT5 :)

Many current Costa di Amalfi hairpins wallriders and ex-wallriders (myself included 👎) are ready to prove you wrong there!

I see..

I don't actively attempt to wallride (I like semi-realistic replays), and whenever I find myself contacting walls or guardrails, I've found time gets lost, rather than gained.

I try to get some nice and exciting replays.. You're right, any contact with walls/ etc. means time loss..

I don't have a problem with the concept, but the execution is very flawed. I was racing just yesterday on one circuit and got squeezed by the AI who was defending and I was the one who got the penalty for it. My favourite example is the Swiss Alps Reverse because of the way the grid is stacked: the AI is off the racing line and instantly moves to take it. But because the start is staggered, you can't out-drag him and because you're on the racing line, you get in the way. The resut is that the AI causes a collision, but you get the penalty for it, and the only alternative s to wait a moment after the race begins before accelerating. Either way, the AI gets a distinct advantage.

hate em'... well mostly hate on super twisty tracks that im goin 10 on the corner then the computer runs into me giving me the penalty then he runs into the wall and never gets penalized

I don't really care about them, as I use fast cars.:dopey::):sly:

Being fast actually doesn't help you for Special Condition courses. Being skillful does.

A fast player can be a bad driver, rack up huge amounts of 5-second penalties, and find themself losing the race.

I gotta say I'm generally for them. Except in mission 34 :-) It promotes better driving generally, but it is unfair if the ai hit you. If you hit them, then no complaint.
