I don't know if I truly have some sort of aptitude for rally and snow tracks, or people in general just do these less so there is a smaller competitive field, but they always seem to be my best seasonals in terms of rankings. I got a 1:15.xxx (DS3) with the 86' Audi Quattro S1, which at the time put me around the 2,000 area. That is incredibly good compared to my usual performances (hard for me to get within the top 10,000-15,000). I think I'm gonna really give this one a shot and see how far I can go. It's a really fun one too!

I feel like I barely did anything to the Audi, but when I think about it I kinda did do a fair amount of tinkering.

And to second GTP_CargoRatt, yes you should lower the dampers, among other things, to avoid any major catastrophe on the bumpy long straight. Higher ride height will also be a big help.

@GTP_CargoRatt , correct what you say. but if everyone can do it isn't like you are all just racing on a modified track? Of course if does take away from the characteristic of the track and the difficulties that a track represents. The best would be that no one would use the shortcut. Its a shame that many people were waiting for a snow race and then this happens. If I was going for one of the top places I might use it, as it is though I will just try it in arcade mode.

Love the Rally TT's. Reading all the people that want use there DS's 3??? I have idea try to drive a real car with DS3. GT6 should separate steering wheels from DS3 events.... Unless everyone is 12 and there feet don't reach the pedals. Just sayin.

Finding a snow Seasonal was a nice surprise. For kicks I took my first trial attempt with the '66 Gordini. I thought this car was pretty dull when I purchased it a while back, but that was on pavement. It's actually a fun car on snow especially with an 'H' shifter. :) And yet for me, in stock form there's no chance to even get bronze.

I have the escort rally car could anyone give my help on setting it up for this event much appreciated.

This set up is pretty good for this course. It doesn't rotate through the slow hairpins as well but it bites in the mid and high speed sweeping corners which allows you to carry a lot more speed and saves time over the course of the lap. I ran a 2:18.112 on a DS3 at sensitivity 4 with several seconds left on the track. I think this will help newer players or players that are not good at rally driving or drifting to get gold.

Hi do you think this set up would work for the escort as well I might try it
Cheers!!!

had a bash,it was alright,no record breaking, but that's not what it is about......oh and when a console comes out with a wheel :D,sure i will use that, but until then i will use this controller thingy......so now i'm going to go and practice some more

Stock Lancia Delta S4, gold on second clean lap. No issues with the bumpy straight, went through with full throttle. Either it is a good car or I'm going too slow to jump around.

i dont see the problem. i use mostly DS3 and im never in the top 100 yet most that are, are wheel users.

stock Lancer Evolution Super rally car '03, using DS3 and gold with a 2:18.xxx on my 3rd lap. pretty easy

Yeah that console with a wheel might be ok as long as it doesn't take up too much room.... and lucky this is only a game and not real life so I'm off to knock a few more wheel users of the leader board with my ds3 (joke)

The Gordini is my go to car for the drift tt's that it can be entered into, I suck at drifting but it seems to do the job.

Just had another try with my new G27 and improved to 2:12.233. Still haven't been back to the DS3 buttons yet for a comparison. Will eventually.
Found the pedals much better after I was able to block them from moving away from me.
Still loving this wheel, good fun.

Welcome to the "wheel" world.:P
I found the wheel gave me a more immersive experience in the game.
IMO i would not even bother with the DS3, even if I thought it would be faster for me. Interesting to see which you think is faster in a months time.

Good you see you are using a G27.

NOW this is funny, but was not yesterday and some minutes ago. I keep myself as average driver and my usual level is 3-5 sec behind the top if i try hard. That is my level and i'm ok with it.
I was excited when i saw this snow rally super lap. Kind of for "finnish drivers". :D
But even I tried it very hard with many different cars and tunes, my best time was 4 seconds behind the SILVER.

I could not understand it. I was so desperate that even tried TC but you know what happened with it.
My car just didn't want to go sideways like rally car should. Also motor sounded felt it has no power and torque was miserable. By now you might already know what was wrong, but I did not, because I never use any driving aids.

Then I suddenly thought to look my own driving from the back view. Car just didn' turn like it should. Not at all.
Then I found it. Bloody ASM was on. No idea how long it has been on and how.
That must also be the reason why my rankings have getting worse lately.
I just thought I haven't driving enough or others are getting better. :)

Anyone else finds the first part of the track really difficult to pass?

EDIT: 2.18.693 -Lancia Delta S4 with oil change.

Depending on the weight of the escort the suspension might need to be tweaked but the lsd settings should probably carry over ok

In keeping with Dakar thats on at the moment I used the stock Pajero with high Rpm Turbo for a 2.16.

Will try the Renault 5, Citroen Xsara, 205 T16 next before I settle for the Mitsubishi 2J.

***** choice yet again by PD, still allowing corner cuts after 2 years

I bought one a few months ago and it's heaps better than the controller,For future reference if anyone is looking to buy a G27 don't buy it through retailers or Logitech,Buy it through these guys and save $240 they're called Logitechshop and they're legit that's who I bought mine from and it only took a few days to deliver.I paid $259.

Happy new year!

Glad to see a snow-TT, it´s been a while. The last time there was one (was it about a year ago?) i finished 61´st, which was my best TT-finish at the time, so i´m def. gonna give this one some attention. Ran a couple of hours last night with the Mitsubishi Rally ´03 and no particular tune and got a 2:10.065 -DS3, no shortcut.

But as interesting it is to be doing a TT on snow for once, it will not keep me grinding for a fortnight unless i make -if but a small- impression on the Leaderboard, and in order to do so, i will have to dismount the high horse and employ that "trick". I totally agree; it´s a stupid thing that PD should fix asap (if p!?), but as long as it´s like this, i don´t see why we can´t just think of it as part of the track: "It´s just a game" as many have said on other occasions...

...And @Dalone, English is not my primary language (and certainly not Aussie-english), so i was having nice visions of you whipping them brokers at the stockexchange -until i looked it up. -Congrats with your wheel!

Doesn't the leather smell great. I was a stockman most of my working life and love the smell of leather, keep a couple of whips nearby just so I can get a whiff of them.

Are you sure that's the only reason you keep whips around? :sly:  Nice to see you finally got, and using, yourself a wheel, now you have no excuse. :sly:  :mischievous:

Seriously though, I know there may be times where you might get frustrated and want to revert back to the DS3, but don't. Keep at it and soon that old DS3 will be nothing but an old foggy memory. ;)

Spot on! I bought a wheel for GT4 on its release, and never looked back. I can hardly drive at all with a DS3...

Golded this on my second lap, with a T16. Wasn't happy with the time, so I tried the WRX Scooby '08, and made some improvement. Not much, but a 2.17:xxx.
