Hi all, Welcome to my 1969 Firebird "restoration" thread. This will focus on, you guessed it, the restoring of my Dad's 1969 Pontiac Firebird.
Here's a little history of the car:
My Dad bought the car from it's first owner in 1981. It started out in life as a Blue 350 Automatic. Ever since I've been alive, it's been garage kept. Some time after he bought it he put in a 400 Pontiac motor, changed the steering wheel (To drag race of course), and stripped it of its paint. I believe the last time it ran was when I was 5, I still have a distant memory of driving in it, at around the same time I told my Dad that I wanted it.
Since I got my driver's license almost a year ago, I've been urging him more to start working back on it. We've made large leaps with it in the past few months and there is a very good chance that it will be drive-able for the first time very soon.
I want to also point out that this isn't exactly a restoration since the car will not be going back to it's factory look. I wanted to paint the car black, replace the steering wheel (Again), and other modifications.
As of now, the only things it needs in order to be finished with its first stage of restoration is a repaired radiator, a new valance panel, new front bumper parts, a new gas cap, and a paint job. Other little things I wanted to add now were new side mirrors and a steering wheel.
