8 Exhaust Pipes! - Someone's been having too much 'Bordeaux'

Bugatti's much anticipated 4 seater, the Bordeaux, is designed to be the spiritual successor to the Royale and be the most extravagant saloon on the market. It will share most of the Veyrons technology and so far only 1 teaser image has been released....

It looks amazing, the split rear window thing is a nice vintage touch and everything else is as you would expect until I see the 8 pipes and it just reminds me of questionable mods you see on chav mobiles... :yuck:

No I assure you this news and image is new, its only grainy because someone stole it or something. This image was originally caught with a mobile phone camera at some exclusive event but the larger image seems to have been scanned.

The actual story is that those images are from an invitation certain owners received regarding the release of a new model. They're scans or photos from the invitation. It never mentioned an actual new model either.

However, further rumors say that the Bordeaux won't actually launch at Frankfurt but rather another yawn boring spedition. Source.

Following the release of a couple of teaser images showing what was tipped as an upcoming new model from Bugatti, the automotive press has been all up in a frenzy speculating over the form that the highly anticipated new car will take. But while the conclusion was that the car would be unveiled to the public at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show, new reports suggest otherwise.

According to sources inside the company, Bugatti will indeed be showing a new concept in Frankfurt – but only to a select group of customers to gauge reactions among its exclusive clientele. And while it may seem like a waste to bring a concept car to the show only to keep it hidden, it may be indicative that the car itself won't be ready for a full public unveiling, for which we'll apparently have to wait a little longer. In the meantime, Bugatti will reportedly be back up to its old tricks with – yep, you guessed it – yet another special edition Veyron at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where sister company Bentley will be unveiling its own new super-luxe saloon. Stay tuned for more.
 
If it's gonna be using four turbos then I wouldn't doubt that they did those ferrari style with the wastegates getting their own pipes.

So how does that work, just the air going out of the wastegate goes down a pipe? Isn't it normally just purged into the engine bay?

Yeah, the F40's central pipe was for the wastegate, thing I don't get is I would have thought there would be a lot of backpressure if the car is front engined as the pipe would be a lot longer than the F40's arrangement, then again that might not even make any difference with a wastegate, I don't know. It would surprise me if Bugatti did that, though, it wouldn't exactly be the most refined way to do it. One pipe per pair of cylinders would make more sense, but doesn't make this any less ugly.
 
Well, it will probably go like hell.. there must be a reason for that. If its a 16 cylinder, it will have 1 pipe per 2 exhaust ports... same as a double pipe on a 4 cylinder...

It will definitely go like hell, but the quad exhaust on each side just looks ugly.
They should've used an unusual shape, or even 2 ovals.

It can also be (and usually is) purged into the exhaust system, bypassing the turbo. Otherwise it's done out the bottom of the bay or into a pipe like Ferrari. There could be four cylinders per pipe with an extra pipe per wastegate if it's going to use a Veyron-like powerplant. They might not want to purge into the bay because of space or because they want to direct the heat elsewhere. Maybe the car will have a diffuser or something like that covering the bottom of the bay.
 
Meh, I dont' think so. The turbos are near the engine, which, I assume, by looking at this vehicle, is about 15 feet ahead. What's the use of having blow-off pipes as long as the rest of your exhaust?

Betting it's quad tips off the mufflers.

This is the Bugatti 16 C Galibier, a concept which heralds the introduction of a new high performance saloon due to go on sale in 2013, commanding a price tag of around £900,000.

Officially the Galibierhas been designed to gauge customer reaction to a four door, four seat Bugatti, but insiders are keen to make it once Veyron production ends in 2012.

"This is what the Bugatti team wants to do now we have to convince customers and the [VW] group to make it," company boss Franz-Josef Paefgen told Autocar.

The company is staying tight-lipped about technical details. But technical boss Wolfgang Schreiber admitted that he wanted the production Galibier to "be the world’s fastest, highest accelerating and powerful four-door" and hinted that maximum power would end up at around 800bhp.

The Galibier is four-wheel drive and power comes from the same W16 engine as the Veyron, albeit with twin mechanical superchargers, rather than the four-turbochargers of the mid-engined Sportscar.

And unlike the sportscar the Galibier is thought to have a conventional eight-speed torque convertor automatic transmission, rather than a DSG system.

The doors and wings of the Galibier are made from aluminium, but the rest of the body is constructed from carbon-fibre and Schreiber admitted that the front end of the chassis was also largely made from carbon-fibre to add stiffness and weight.

Insiders won’t comment on the target weight of the production car, merely that it is set to be the lightest car in its class.

The styling is said to be influenced by the famous Bugatti Type 57 Atlantique which is why the Galibier is a hatchback, rather than a conventional saloon and has a characteristic spine running down the entire body.

The basic architecture is also said to be inspired by the so called ‘fuselage’ styling of the Type 35 and echoed by the Veyron. The four-seat cabin is more luxury oriented than the Veyron and extremely minimalist.

The large wooden dash is dominated by two centrally mounted dials, showing available power and speed, topping out at 390km/h (242mph) on the concept. The clock has been manufactured by Swiss maker Parmigiani and is removeable, so it can be fixed on a specially designed wristwatch for customers.

Bugatti’s sales director Alastair Stewart told Autocar that the decision to put the Galibier into production would be taken by spring next year after the concept car has toured the world to be put in front of prospective customers. If it does see the light of day, he expects up to 300 to be made at the company’s Molsheim HQ every year.
 
I don't really like it. Maybe it's the pictures, but I think it looks too 90s. I feel like I've seen everything about the car between the Chrysler and Bugatti stands in the last 20 years.

Agreed, it looks like an ostentatious 90's concept car from a 3rd rate manafacturer. Awful. The interior looks wonderful although not particularly cosy.
 
Looks like a mix between an old cruise ship and..a minivan. Hopefully production looks better, which i'm sure it will.
 
Wonderful interior. But the exterior is a bit OTT for my taste... then again, I'm not really the target consumer for a £900k car!
 
I think it looks really nice - big and imposing.

Interior is the best I've ever seen on a luxury car - its moved the game on.
 
I wonder if they designed this one the right way around, after the problems they had with the development of the Veyron (style came first, then aero). Hence the...not as interesting styling on this? Not that I think it looks bad. I actually am liking the rear end treatment (not so much the front...) Just not visually intriguing...apart from that shiny bodywork.

I agree. It looks like what Bentley has been trying to do for ages with the Arnage, however theirs still looks like it was from an old power boat. This is so much more appointed and stately.

Its a very strange "exaggerated" luxury car, but I curious to see the real model.

The 4 door sedan are a reference and a big interest to the supercars manufacturers nowadays!

What's with the chrome nonsense and Bugatti's apparent affinity for ruining cars via awful paintjobs.
 
I think the polished Aluminium sides look absolutely brilliant!

I think it looks great apart from the rear, which looks like they sort of decided to finish up and round it off before it all got abit too long.
