Gee you guys like to rock each other up lol.

Cobraboy ummm if you want to sit on the bonnet "hood" or guards "fenders" bring a fair bit of cash with you as they are alloy and will dent and buckle easily.

Also just make others drewl once in a while, at torque performance there is a beautifuly restored 68 AC Cobra, and a 2001 C5 Vette that show up ever so often so I get to umm ride in the on occasion.

For the grand daddy I had the pleasure of riding, really wanted to drive" a 2001 R34 Vspec II. It is the only one in New Zealand and was purchased brand new by the owner. I can tell you though, mine would crap all over it but heck the R34 was standard at the time.

Skylineguy- I've sent the R33 and R34 owners handbooks along with an issue of Performance Car mags that has Reece Megreggor's R32 when he import into the 9's.

I own an R34 in pearl black. Can't lower it in Cali too low otherwise you'd get ticketed. In San Diego County, your car's headlights have to be like 20 inches or some crap from the ground. There's a company out here that you can buy Skylines from, but they're not JDM spec anymore. I had the website somewhere... I'll get that later on. You'll pay cost plus, and your car will probably have a 2 month waiting time, but its worth it. These guys spent a lot of time making sure their product is up to US DOT "standards". Since right hand drive cars are illegal in a lot of areas (found that out wit a hefty ticket), they also accomodate for the US change.

I paid around 68 grand for my deal, import fees, and JDM to US modifications, luckily I got the car from a very good friend in Yokohama, so I didn't pay retail for it.

sweet! I'm checking with the post office about the street name thing....our street is the only one remotley like it in our entire city so there should be no problem. just to make sure I called the local post office and they said that as long as you got the zip code right (9780) it will get there then from there the package people will look at it and find my house based on the house number..

That's odd. According to DOT there is not a single law on the books about right hand drive being illegal. That would also be the same for local laws as DOT standards are set federally not locally. The only issues were emissions standars which the states were allowed to set to their own preferences. California which has the highest standard of all the states, while Chicago is one of or was one of the lowest.
When I was still living in Woodstock Illinios we never had emissions testing, that was back in 98.

They are still JDM though. What MotoRex does is 95% structural the rest is emmissions and replacing of parts which were or may have been removed by the previous owner in Japan.

Ever seen a left side driven Skyline?

That's most surely a mirrored image, as the steering column in the R32, R33 and R34 would interfere with the turbochargers placement, in the GT-R models, if the car was left hand drive.

This is, in part, why Nissan never sold the car worldwide. In fact, until very recently, they were not sold BY Nissan in Europe, you had to export them by yourself via grey market. I'm not sure about Australia and New Zealand, but the only place where you could buy one straight from the dealer was, well, Japan.

nope there are LHD skylines....heres a quote from the official motorex FAQ

"Nissan only ever made the GT-R in a right hand drive version. MotoRex is only going to be selling right hand drive GT-R's. There are_ however some left hand drive GT-R's in the world. We have some detailed pictures of an R32 that was converted to left hand drive. We also have some other pics of left hand drive R33's. There is a company_ in the US with a left hand drive conversion. You can contact Skyline Motors at (714) 558 -7655 for more information on left hand drive conversions."

New Zealand got the R-34; Australia didn't

ok...just a few simple questions you sould be able to answer since you own one.....

#1 when you first start up the car what word appears under the GTR logo on the lcd display?

#2 what is the button for the hazard lights located next to?

#3 how many buttons are located directly underneath the LCD display?

#4 when you push the far right button under the lcd display what 7 peices of information is given to you at the screen with the 7 green bars?

#5 is there a G meter included in the fuctions of the display?

these are basic questions that can be answered by simply turning on your car. No technical knowledge is necessary all you have to do is look at your car.....

Who are you talking to? :odd:

He is talking to Skyline addict who claims to own an R34.

M5 that is not totally correct as there is a bloke in Australia who owns the only NUR Spec R34 GTR in the Southern Hemishere. They also sold Skylines new there since the R31.

No it's not a mirrored image. That car is real and located here in Finland. Check this

I meant lean.... :embarrassed:

Ha, Doug, we get R34 GTRs over here... I have never seen one before, but there are a few ads in Australian Used Car Sales for a few different R34 GTRs, and they are perfectly legal.

skylines are completely illigal in canada because the canadian governtment wont let any car in that wasn't originally meant for their country or the US....

I know there are a few - but officially, they (R34s) were only imported in New Zealand, right? The R32 was the last one to be officially done in Australia, or so I thought.

I know you HAVE them, but so do we. And we certainly don't get them from Nissan in Japan.

Am I wrong again? There's been a rash of me getting proven wrong! THIS is why I need a vacation.

Well there's one big mod....The mechanic snatches about 6-7 thousand dollars out of your wallet..and deposits that into his account..
