A minor point about the quote in the first post about cams: The little egg shaped things are called cams, the camshaft is called a camshaft because it's a shaft with a bunch of cams on it 
This gets slightly confusing as people do commonly refer to camshafts as cams. Like I said, minor point.
I dont see why people say OHV engines are less complicated than OHC engines... theyre very nearly the same thing, except that the ohv uses a pushrod where the ohc engine uses a chain to bridge the gap between the crankshaft and the head.
