A few specific questions about GT5:P

i have forza 3 on pre-order and have also played forza 2 in the past but thinking about jumping ship to ps3 for this game and the upcomming GT5. basically, forza 3 is taking some steps backwards in terms of online multiplayer restrictions and this a dealbreaker for me since i only play games online.

are there dedicated servers (meaning you can join or host searchable public custom games) where the host has complete control of the room to set game settings and rules?

are windshields modeled in cockpit view?

does the game have a fully analog clutch modulation like forza 3 does meaning it has a linear / progressive bite point area where it bogs the engine down like in real life or is it just an on / off switch?

is there a damage model of some kind?

do cars flip over?

can you turn off the music while driving and in menus?

i have a fanatec wheel comming in and looking to race in simulation mode but i have read that simulation setting is not available online? i don't understand why this would be restricted.

i am sure you figured out that i am looking for a realistic driving / racing experience by now. from watching youtube videos of this game a couple of things caught my eye that this game seems to do better than forza 3; cockpit view looks better and more realistic, cars kick up alot of dirt and smoke from the tires where forza 3 took a step backwards in this from it's previous version, cars in real life that only come with paddle shifters is mimicked in this GT5P where you are not allowed to use h-pattern shifter which i think is cool.

Deal breaker for me- You pay to play Forza online.

Everything you ask about should be in GT5, but all that cool stuff is not in GT5P. Hopefully only 6 months until GT5 comes out. GT5P has given me over a 18 months of good times, and Ive had high speed internet for 10 months to play online. I played for about 3 hours today (up to 40th or so in the F2007 ranking, few F2007 races around Suzuka, and a few races around Fuji in the Tuned 111/R.)

Ok, in order I think:

There's a racelist for GT5P online and anyone can join. It gets changed monthly.

Not sure what you mean about windshields being modeled. Interior view is quite good in GT5P though.

No clutch in 5P ... unless you have a Fanatec or Logitech G25/G27. I don't know how good it is or is not.

No damage at all in 5P.
Cars don't flip over either.

Yes, you can kill all music in the game, or just in menu/in race. I have it all off too. :)

Most events online are in Standard physics, but there are several (usually five or six lately) in Professional physics. That's where you find nearly all the serious racers (rather than say, the casual gamers).

I've been playing 5P for nearly a year online *and am now involved in the running of a league) and have never played FM online, so that's fair warning for my next sentence: Get GT5P already, it's cheap. It's hardly a deep game, but online racing within GT is pretty sweet when you find some cool people to race with. And, therefore, a good way to fill out your friendslist before GT5 wanders around.
👍

The clutch is analogue, at least when using the G25.

how much engagement are is there? i mean, can you easily feather it?

ok so i want to race simulation mode (i think it's called professional mode in this game) online with everyone else in this same mode, is there such rooms at all times? it looks like you can browse server listings from some youtube videos i saw. i am hoping there are rooms that force; cockpit view, all assists off, pro physics, manual mode, real tracks and not ovals. if not, does the game at least allow the creation of custom private rooms to invite frinds to game where the host has full control of server rules to enforce?

Welcome to GTPlanet.

First of all, please read over the AUP you signed up too. Found here. Decent grammar is expected and also try not to double post. And second, there is a search bar at the top of the screen. With the amount of questions you have asked, it might be worth while searching before hand 👍

You have to be a bit on the sensitive side to feel the analogueness of the clutch :). Not familiar with the online mode (shameful, I know) so I can't answer those questions.

There are no "rooms" in GT5P you can only try to get in certain races with your friends by joining at the same time, be it via PSN or one of the race threads.

I take it you don't have a PS 3 yet you could always wait for GT5 release to see if it features the stuff you want, of course.
:)

does the game have a fully analog clutch modulation like forza 3 does meaning it has a linear / progressive bite point area where it bogs the engine down like in real life or is it just an on / off switch? No analog clutch. Only on G25/27 and the fanatec wheels that come with a clutch pedal

is there a damage model of some kind? No.

do cars flip over? Who cares ?

can you turn off the music while driving and in menus? Yes.

i have a fanatec wheel comming in and looking to race in simulation mode but i have read that simulation setting is not available online? i don't understand why this would be restricted. You're meaning professional physics, yes it is available online but only on the expert events. The beginner and intermediate are restricted to standard physics
I hope this answers your questions
