The minute, the very second you start to call these people garbage they act all offended and play the victim. Because they duplicitously hold you to standards of human decency they have no interest in adhering to themselves.
What's weird is that these same garbage people fly flags off the back of their clapped-out trucks that say "Trump 2024: 🤬 Your Feelings!" Well, these people are garbage, and honestly, 🤬 their feelings.

And what happens when he does? MAGA loons whine that he just insulted half of America. Meanwhile their orange overlord calls all of America a garbage dump and they give him a free pass.

The only thing that I lament about it is that he gave people an opportunity to "both sides" an issue that was winning for Democrats - that Puerto Rico was called an island of floating garbage in a rally. Somehow that was actually influencing people to act, and Biden's gaffe (and I truly believe it was a gaffe because it runs counter to some of his deepest messaging, and because he's so old he had to drop out of the race), gave the news an opportunity to pivot to a new shiny thing and diminish the impact.

That being said, Trump running around in a garbage truck just reminds everyone that he thinks America is a garbage can for the world, and the Puerto Rico is the garbage itself. Trump feels like he gets to win with the grievance, but I'm not sure the voters he's trying to persuade are a stupid as he thinks - as stupid as his garbage supporters.

I also think he's trying to signal that he's a garbage man, ready to take the human garbage out of the garbage can that is America. Which once you see it is hard to Na zi.

That's why I called it the worst gaffe yet yesterday. I figure he should've said "the only garbage is his campaign speakers' attacks on fellow Americans" but had a cognitive brainfart and paused at the wrong moment as he said supporters'... instead and realised his mistake.

This has already morphed into "Biden and Kamabla called us all garbage" in the minds of those who the edited segment was aimed at even though Harris was quick to distance herself from the comment.

To be honest, being a Trump supporter isn't a protected class so his accurate comment just hurt the degenerates' feelings.

Kamala ad suggests that women don't need to tell their husbands they're voting for Kamala, and that makes manly men mad. It's amazing to me that none of the men that took offense to this prospect realized that if your wife feels like she can't talk to you about why she can't vote for the convicted felon who sexually abused women and took their constitutional right to reproductive healthcare decisions away... maybe the problem is with you?

Dang.
That's counterproductive to what I was going to post, in response, below UKMikey's post #4,296.

That's the thing. I haven't watched any of Biden's state of the union broadcasts, but he should have come out and remind people he is still President of the United States.
Remind people that during this election he wants the country to stay United on his watch and when he hands over the keys to the oval office.
Best thing to say was the USA is not a garbage dump. Puerto Rico is not a garbage dump. Remind folks it's not two major parties, but one voice of the people, working together to advance the nation.

It's not funny, but it is in that when I watched the Michelle Obama speech, she brought up menopause. She explained the care and understanding men and women needed to speak out about it. That's unity.

Like she mentioned at the top of her speech, she hates politics. I'm the same. I hate the divide in the government itself. Having to choose a side.

Dropped it on Monday, ballot processed on Wednesday with email confirmation... I really dont know how anyone can cheat...Especially in significant way to make anything bad.

Only the uneducated like MAGA would come up with the wildest conspiracies that they are guilty of.

Only the uneducated can be fooled by a snake oil orange sales man...

Edit: ok I guess it's pretty clear for whom I voted for even without seeing what's inside the envelope... 😝

I'm only an outsider looking in and even I'm a bit worried about the results.

Apart from all the problems if the cheetos looking dunce wins, I want that stupid cult to have a meltdown.

Rooting for all of you sane US citizens, hopefully she wins.

Polls are showing:

There are a large number of you looking in :

There are almost half of you supporting trump:

Clearly, there are a lot of people outside looking in, who are supporting trump...

anything I said bad about trump supporters in previous posts, is only applicable to people inside the US who can vote for trump.

For you looking in:
It really must be some kind of misunderstanding or misinterpretation due to things being lost in translation...no?!???

Supporting trump are :
A large number of Japanese
A large number of Vietnamese
A few from South Korea
A lot of Chinese (if you can make past the digital curtain)
A large number of French and youth too
A large number of Australian
A number of people from UK, like Pierce Morgan
Even ethnic groups within the US!:
Even some Hawaiian people... Why trump ? (He is in the real estate industry, contributing to the degradation of Hawaiian way of life with the increase cost of living)
Israelian and Jewish people we clearly know why, but still
Palestinians too, (at least for once you agree with some Jewish people...)
Indians from India
ABCs? American Born Chinese/Vietnamese/Korean?
Latinos... People from South America...
Even first generation US citizens coming from somewhere else ...
I also would like to chat with a local redneck, 2nd amendment fanatic.... (What triggers you ?)

This thread is becoming too much like an echo chamber and I worry in such cases, I am one that love the diversity on this earth. Imagine this earth with only Lions.... We wouldn't be able to survive.... A balance in diversity must exist, and the interactions between species and race is what makes it more beneficial and beautiful. a world with too many stupid individuals and mosquitoes/flies/cockroaches is a place i really don't want to be in...

Let's here some POV from others group, your voice is important too, why be so quiet. It's not like anyone here can put you to shame (but only yourself).

If any of you are from these groups or else,
Could you please explain your point of view ?

I genuinely would like to have a friendly discussion here..
Please explain your point of view.

It's not like you can vote, so I really dont care if you support trump, because you can't do anything about it...

... furthermore, anything I said bad about trump supporters in previous posts, is only applicable to people inside the US who can vote for trump.

But I really want to understand what' makes you go with him.

I honest fail to understand.
Since you are on GTPlanet, then I consider that you are at a minimum decent enough as a human, therefore you must have some capability for thinking correctly, and therefore you really must have a reason to support him.

Right now I really feel stupid for not understanding why anyone would support trump....

Right now I am only assuming, and you know what that means....
Let's have a friendly discussion here.

Convince me please (although I already voted)

A number of people from UK, like Pierce Morgan
Piers Morgan I can 100% assure you is not representative of the majority of the UK, and while Trump does have his fans they are a minority, with a recent survey showing 2/3 of people supporting Harris and only a 1/6 supporting Trump. Oh and most of Scotland utterly hates him.

The only demographic that wants Trump to win are those who support the Reform party, which is our (very small) version of the GOP as it is now, rabidly Nationalistic and xenophobic (well actually pretty much phobic to anything that isn't straight, white, and male).

I’d say that Japan, Vietnam, Korea and China have quite a strange view of foreigners.

Speaking from personal experience, the Japanese can be quite isolationist when it comes to foreign people in their own country even to the point of using Gaijin in a derogatory way.

They also have a huge fascination with all things outside their country. So it’s a very NIMBY way of looking at things. I guess Trumps view of America only and isolationist is appealing and they may feel they’d like their own government to be like this. Also they’re still a little slow on uptake of Same Sex relations and women’s rights which again are in the Trump playbook.

The French seem to be always struggling like the UK with far right proliferation and Le Pen is proof of this growing trend in France. The UK has its own issues too with fools on the far right.

Aussies are a little more alien to me as I know they’re quite progressive as a people but they do love dirty industries still (minining, oil & large cattle farming) etc. so their love of Trump may stem from that angle.

A lot of this is just observational guess work on my part and I’m sure people from those countries can answer more concisely and with a greater understanding than myself.

As for Japan, my ex is half Japanese and her family were very against foreigners being in Japan but happy to have a foreign partner. I was told to be firm and strong handed with her by her father so I could keep her in line (that didn’t fly with myself, which didn’t endear me to him or the family).

Actually, now that I think about it,
Aussies who support trump (they have their own version of US FOX news):
  • British people away from mother land
  • Came to a new world around the same time, but not necessarily by choice.
  • Took over native peoples
  • Proliferation of modern society in 200 years...
  • new ethnic groups coming from elsewhere, and succeed within the past 30 years
  • cost of living increase (but they forget that it is the exact same thing everywhere else, cost of living is a worldwide global phenomenon, but people on the right from all countries like to make it sound like it's a local thing due to the others pouring in....and thus finding that as an excuse to hate the others, thus avoiding to blame themselves for their own failures, or failures to admit that you are not as great of person as you think you are, not living up to the ideas from the past that some people have superior genes)
  • thus the exact same clash as what we see here in the US.

Australia actually has the same history template as the US.

I just realized now that Australia is a mini USA....

I am not surprised. Scotland was yet another place Trump thought he could strong-arm into submission by either fear-mongering or claiming he would not invest in Scotland anymore if they didn't kneel to his demands about the wind turbines "on behalf of the locals". They appropriately told him to kick rocks about it, and he invested in another golf course in the country just a couple years later.

Now, every time he rages in a rally or interview about turbines, it's b/c the Scottish live rent free in his head.

The party preference poll you quoted was from the previous election when Trump was more of an unknown quantity. It's possible some of those voters may have changed their mind since then.

If you're interested in the views of Trump voters then I'd suggest a venue like r/AskConservatives might be a better bet than GTP.

Man, this Walz guy seems like more of a bastard with every new story that comes out.

The kid's not doing well with crime and addiction and instead of letting him focus and get real good at them, Walz told him to do sports.
