That's some good ideas, Aloha62_2. It would make the game more realistic and fun to play. Maybe to make ~SpoonDC5~ happy, make the engine swaps available after a certain amount of time you had the car or a certain mileage. Similiar to TXR3. I would love that.

i cood see it happening though the engines could only be swapped under the manufactures umbrealla, ie General Motors cars could swap engines (within reason) between them, Nissan/infinity, Toyota/lexus, and any cars under the ford banner

seriosuly...PD isn't some kind of ricing game...well u guys are certainly making it as if it was one...Swap engines..? if u want that go play NFSU or somehting, or wait for them to have that function..definley not GT..remember is a "SIMULATION" not a ricing game..kleav that to NFS....

So...engine swaps are rice?

Where do you get this information?

Engine swaps are mainly used to gain massive performance, although being costly. If you think engine swaps are rice, please,do not come back to these boards.

So this must mean NASCAR is rice, since they don't use stock engines?Hmmm...Formula 1 IS also Rice...Oop! The Chevrolet Corvette C5R is rice!!

Please go get at least a small understanding of cars BEFORE you start running your mouth.

Yeah, TXR3 allows for engine swaps also, so it's not like it's a bad idea or anything. Actually, it's an excellent idea, considering that you're using your own production car to do this with.

Obviously you won't and SHOULDN'T be able to do with with racing performance WTCC, JGTC vehicles available. But with production cars, why not? Unless it's absolutely out of the question for one reason or another. i.e. Ruf, Pagani, etc.

ok...i guess ur missing the point, Gran turismo is a Simultaion game, of testing and expericning the performance of cars that have there own stock engine and there own performances, and having other parts such as adding parts to there standard engine to increrase performance and see how far it can go, as i said on my reply to someone said, having Swaped engines in the car already at the tuner shop will be a better idea then having every car swapable and having to have PD do add alll the codes and stuff for each car...

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I don't know where you get that kind of information that Gran Turismo is a simulation of "TESTING AND EXPERIENCING THE PERFORMANCE OF CARS THAT HAVE THEIR OWN STOCK ENGINE AND THEIR OWN PERFORMANCES"! :odd:

Why does Gran Turismo have to be a game of only about cars with their stock engine being modded? :odd: Gran Turismo is a game about the everyday performance of race cars and modded cars IMO. I think where you might be trying to get to also is that swapping in another engine would make the car no longer a "X" really. Like replacing the RX-7's engine with an LS1. People have gotten very GOOD results from this swap, but I can see how people would like at it as "its not really an RX-7 anymore." This can be applied to all other cars also.

I think you are going to have to accept engine swaps if does come in the future Gran Turismo series. People are doing engine swaps for racing or for their own satisfying purposes, so why not? :embarrassed:

BTW, maybe you are like some of my friends. They have this hatred to hear people who are ricers say something like this:

"I VV4nt 2 sVVap my 4 b0nker wITH Teh SkYL1ne'S Eng1ne! It B G8 y0! :embarrassed:

I personally would love to see engine swaps. There have been a lot of good ideas on this thread about how it could be done. I really like the idea of it affecting your car's performance and durablility. I know somebody personally that had done a RB20 swap in a 1975 Datsun 280Z. Sure it has really increased the overall speed and acceleration but the downside is with the way the suspension is stock on the car it can't deal with so he is going to have to get a whole new suspension setup and also the chassis can't support that much power until he gets it stiffened and strengthened unless he wants to completely tear the car apart he can't fully gun it. So I agree that if you do a swap in this game the car you put it into should be taken into consideration and you should have to deal wih any consequences that arise from that swap and have to shell out the extra money to fix any problems that swap in a certain car may cause.

All I can say in addition to my post above is that it is going to be really fun breaking the hearts of boys everywhere in 550hp Civics when I get my hands on GT5 and play online. :)

YUO PUT A PORSCHE ENGINE IN A CORVAIR? WTF MATE

Yeah baby. It's going to happen. Just don't turn and you'll be fine.

Porsche engine in a Corvair? heh... no.

But there was a V-8 RWD Accord on E-Bay recently... that was nuts.

I agree... since the manufacturer offers some of those engines as alternates in different markets anyway.
