A little fun anyone?

It was coming out of that light right hand turn before you come up on the left hander round-about. I knew I was hitting the wall because I turned in late, and out of semi-frustration I just floored it, I got ricocheted back onto the track, my ghost showed up in my mirror quite a few car lengths back. It could have been dumb luck but I got no red lap and it was definitely faster.

So what was your quickest lap before you bumped the wall?

Agree - there's really no where on this track that you are faster BECAUSE of a wall bump. You are always slower. At best it hurts you so little that you won't notice it, but there are no acceleration properties associated with the wall.

GT Motion - you probably just did something a little different when you passed your ghost, or didn't realize a mistake you made on your previous fast lap. I am almost positive you were fast in spite of your bump, not because of it.

This is true from what Ive noticed but on the other hand there are decelleration properties that seem could be used as an advantage. (potentially the outside wall on the left immediatly after the kink of turn 1?) No idea whether they could save time on a 1:29.xxx or below lap since Ive only put in a handful of laps. Managed to run a 1:31.49x last night in the Vspec after only 2 or 3 laps. I have the GT-A GTR but accidentally did an oil change on it :ouch:

Question: does anyone know yet if oil degredation is a factor in Free Runs?

Im not sure about the oil but i can check my Spec V when i get home later since the only thing i have done with it is free runs and i should have done enough to have the power decrease or enough to turn the oil brown in the oil change area.

We had some fun at Madrid last night in the GT-A GT-Rs.
I ran a 1:27.9 offline while I was waiting for the lounge to open up. The best that was managed online as a 1:28.8.

Neither of those laps was particularly good. The 1:27.9 was OK, but I was 2 tenths off in the first sector, another 2 tenths in the next sector, and probably another tenth or two in the last couple corners. A 1:26.x is absolutely possible, but it would be a really nice lap.

Blindside,

I ran a 1'28.618 with a nice sector 2 and 3 in about 20 laps. That said, on that ghost, I was up once by .654 in the first sector alone, bring my theoretical best to a 1'27.9xx also. I definitely see low 1'27's here, maybe a 1
26.x with a painfully, agonizingly perfect lap. I was never able to come close to replicating that magic first sector, but was able to get to a point where I could consistently be up .2-.3, with the odd .4 on the 1'28.618. It's funny, whenever I try harder, I can only get consistently slightly quicker, but the magic tends to go away, who knows.

Anyway, I HATE this car. It sucks. It does opposite things of a RWD in balance when you give input. You need to induce mini drifts to go fast. Smooth is not fast in this car, though I seem to have found that only Racing tires in this game reward true smoothness with speed. The sports tires in particular really reward sliding.

Now to a 1.28.096, on a lap that was only .275 up in the first sector on the previous 1'28.6 best. So theoretical has now moved to a 1'27.6xxx.

I still hate this car. :)

Big car, little streets - it's a pain in the ass.

However, if this particular combo is used I do believe it will separate those who have control over the brake from those who do not. People will complain that it's unrealistic, and that the top drivers are cheating...or something, and they will be weeded out.

Guarantee everyone with a dfgt who wouldnt make it would say the top 16 all had G25's :D Prove em wrong blindside, prove em wrong.

1'27.610, with a good first sector and good final corner. Happy with this lap, fast and clean. I retract my previous statement about driving the piss out of this thing. Once you learn what the AWD does with throttle mid corner, you can adjust your lines appropriately to take advantage of it and this car actually needs to be driven very smoothly, but more smoothly than the tuned 350z in order to be fast. I still hate it, but this car is beastly when driven properly. Be patient with this car.

Agreed on all counts 👍

Impressive times guys, I did about 10 more laps today and only got down to 28.3, theoretical best being 28.0. I still need to figure out how to drive this car properly.

Forced - nice lap, that sounds really nice. I did half a dozen laps at Madrid tonight to "warm up" and only got a couple :28.0's. One or two of those was a :27.6 or .7 going into the last couple corners, but couldn't put it together.

Thanks man, but I'm sure you'll drop that 27.2 without too much effort 👍 Just rip the bandaid off quick for my sake. lol

Don't be too aggressive on the brakes in the final chicane. I found myself diving in too hard and getting the car too loose at entry which result in an epic tank-slapper over the chicane. Looked cool, but it's slow. You want to be out more to drivers left than you think there at entry, just focus on keeping the car loaded and be gentle in your transition from right to left. If you take too much curb at exit you'll upset the car too much. At least 46mph is your apex speed there and set yourself up to get on the power as soon as possible for the run to the finish.

Haha forced I'll give you some credit, just had no idea! I'm sure the majority of the top 128 are usin a dfgt just based on price. Didn't try madrid at all tonight, I will be doing that tomorrow, but we did run Monza and Nurb GP and all I can say is - I HATE this car!

Did a 29.2 after only a handful of laps before heading out to dinner earlier. It's going to take some patience to learn how to drive this car properly.

Nice job Goose. Brought my time down to 1:30.468 after about 8 laps today, still have to explore the track some more.

And thanks a lot for the vid midiman, any replay faster than mine should be useful lol 👍

Managed a 1:29.633 last night. From what I've gathered, seems like turn 1 and the Rotary turn have to be taken pretty strangely.

So far I'm hitting ~108 mph across the Start/Finish (up from ~106-107), is anyone able to go faster here?

Shoot for ~110 crossing the s/f line. The last chicane seems to really fall into the "slow in fast out" type of corner. Late braking for it doesn't seem to work quite as well. My best laps were run when I was braking a bit early for it an keeping the back end under the car rather than tossing it into the chicane sideways.

I got down to a 1:28.5 in about 10 laps last night. I had to rerun all the license tests with my GTP account Because I was an idiot and made irreversible mods to my other Academy Edition GTR before the competition started.

I appreciate that. I can't imagine how people are running 28's. That video was about as good as I could do. There were a few 1/10ths I missed but that would still place me in the low 29's. Guess that's why I finished 118th in my region.
