A look back at your first days of GTP

My first ever post was a tune for the Corvette Z06 tuned in Prologue.
I'd been lurking around the tuning forum for a while, mostly in The Lion's Den.

My first thread was a rant about the McLaren F1's incorrect gearing and bad sound. :embarrassed:

I don't recall much of my early GTP interactions, only that I was employed, wealthier, housed and happier than I am these days.

18, playing since the original. This game was a life changing experience for me and I would like to thank everybody who helped in its inception. Long live the real driving simulator!
It was actually 2 days before I turned 18 when I registered. And to think, I came up with that name.

Do I think any differently about GT now? Nope!

I've been here for 2 years, never properly introduced myself. So here goes.

  • How did you find GTPlanet? Early April 2008, a friend emailed me a link for a video about the Ferrari F2007 in GT5P. That link led to the news page on GTP.
  • Where are you from? 50 miles east of Nashville, TN.
  • When did you start playing the Gran Turismo games? 1998
  • Do you play with a steering wheel? Can't afford one right now
  • What other games do you enjoy? I tend to enjoy games that has guns in them, because gun = fun.
  • What are you most looking forward to doing in the community, now that you're a part of this site? To not get banned.

2 years afterward, I finally decided to make an intro thread. "To not get banned"

I should also note that was still in the aftermath of what happened in the previous FPT. That was a pretty sad time for GTP.

I'll admit that I was never really a hater, I was just annoyed about how many ponies were in the funny pics thread. While I was on vacation,I have come to realize that friendship is magic.

'Dat orange.

And who can forget this!

:boggled:

...

Should probably have saved that for my 5th anniversary thread...

My first 300 post were utter garbage and arrogant. I spent more time spewing nonsense than learning. My selfish ways caught up to me, but I think vastly changed over the course of time.

I don't even remember :dunce: I have quite a few posts for someone that's been here for two and a half years.

I believe this was my first post:

In what I've tested, the Subaru Impreza 2003 Rally Car has very good handling on both road and dirt/snow.

That would be the best "noob friendly" car in that game.

In response to what would be a good rally car in GT PSP, back on the first day I joined.

My first post was on the Caption this thread. I actually stared posting 11 months after I made my account.

And I'm sure most people remember this.

My first posts, with my first user profile (tahitidrift):

- hi you guys

- I don't know why why you try to drift so hard

- I've have always used a Trueno in the game, but now i'm really interested in drift my 86

- I can give you drift settings if you want
It isn't a problem for me
Tell me what car you want to drift and I will tell you the better way to tune it

- Hello?
Is someone there?
I feel like if i have been left behind

- If someone wants to talk to me, i will be in another discussion in this forum, probably about drifting.See ya!

That was eight years ago, when I was 13. Probably one of the first things that come to my mind when my brain opens the "let's remember everything you don't want to remember" box.

I remember being very interested in the marketplace section under the GT5 forum. I loved trading cars/paints with other members.

My first day wasn't to long ago dec 20. I've herd about this site before but never knew how big it was. I'm glad I stumble on it after picking up GT6 as my plan was to dig deep into GT6 and play as much I can so I can be even better racer. My first feelings about everythingis its so overwhelmed with all that going and stuff I try keep up as much I can. Im proud to be apart of this website and I just become a Premium member and looking forward to my future on GTPlanet.

First post that got deleted was an all cap post in a Best Drift Car poll where I said the X1 was (Jokingly of course, I still think drifting is the stupidest thing), oldest post I could find is

My first post? Well.... I offered a Corvette C2 Race Car in GT5 for trade thinking it was so rare. The funny thing is that no-one replied to me.

I daren't even go look for it. If my Facebook posts from that period are anything to go by I hope no one else ever finds it either.

I used to have a different profile back around when gt4 released. But stopped using it, and forgot both the username and password :)
I made this profile in 2010, and this was my very first post. It seems I wasn't happy that GT5 Got delayed again :)

This game better be perfect, and I mean flawless to such a degree that God himself strokes his beard and mumbles something like "why didn't I come up with that?"

But then again on month more or less no biggie.
Besides this way, I might pass my exam on December 2. :)

... I didn't, it wasn't

Actually my very first days, I was just browsing without becoming a member. I can't remember how long it took before making an account and posted my first post in the GT4 forum.

Haha weird, this is my first post back on GTP since '07 I just noticed because before I clicked on Rumble Strip I had a look at my old content.

I started off as a 15 year old into GT3 drifting so obviously my first post was the usual "what's the best car for drifting?" whilst completely ignoring the stickies about such posts. Amateur. I think this was actually the first forum I was active on and met some super cool people I'm hoping to come across again here!

My first time on GTP was over 5 years ago and it was an entry into the photomode 2.0 comps focusing on Hondas. I entered something much too abstract (its all I had as I wasn't terribly good at photoshop at the time) and it sparked a huge row between the veterans who were standing up for me and those who said it was (probably quite rightfully) rubbish. Good times - I think I got so many sympathy/attention votes I became a real contender :P

First post (courtesy of @Apok off my 10 years at GTP thead):

I'd say some more american and european cars... I wouldn`t care busting one of a two dozen skylines (yeah, I exagerate) for having a cool saleen mustang or, damn, where the hell is the BMW M3 and M%? or the Z8? or, the frikin Audi SR4 (yeah, it's on GTconcept... you can play it, I cant) OR a Lingenfelter vette? they put Japanese tuners on the game, so why dont add some lingenfelter, saleen, or even some arden jags or schnitzer BMWs... something that actually hauls.
but, overal.. I think they left out something that really gave life to GT2... vintage and muscle cars. heck, I'd throw away all the damned Lancers and subarus for a nice set of mopar muscle and that big block Vette. well, that would be it for me, muscle cars... and, heck, more variety of cars. I dunno you, but I'd change any time the alto works or any stuff like that for some more euro and american cars. GOOD american and european cars. and, well, I think that putting a wing and carbon fiber hood and all that would be a mistake. Cars look good the way they are.

also, HI to all... Im new :D

Cano

And I still think it's true. My first thread in this place is, I think, the Hot rods, customs and muscle cars pic thread over at Cars in General, which is busier than ever now. Which makes me happy.

I was a lurker for all of GT4. I got GT5 and a PS3 in the summer of 2010. Made an account to join a racing league, 450pp Street Cars.

I'm pretty sure I joined the first time I found this site. And looking back at my first post, my post-style hasn't changed that much.
