Motorbike engined Minis aren't new. But the power-weight gains are compromised by low-rpm tractability (those bike engines don't have much torque) which makes them slow to accelerate at low speeds. The only way to correct this is through custom gearboxes, which is also unrealistic... but then GT4 has it anyway.

@Live4Speed: Given that, I'd like to see it limited to engine bay capacity. If you have to break down firewalls to do it, no. But if it's a big block stuffed into the back of a small hatch, I'm all for it. :D :D :D

Sorry but i think your wrong about the mini being slow, here are some stats

Weight 650 kilos

0 to 60mph 3.4 seconds

100 to 0mhp 4.9 seconds

Standing quartermile 11.0 seconds

With terminal speed of 130 mph

BHP at Crank 400

Power to weight ratio 615bhp/tonne

The comapny who builds these can build even more powerfull engines and they say that they have seen over 700bhp from a hayabusa engine! imagine a mini with 1076bhp/tonne!!

Probably have severe traction problems but maybe fun!

My personal favourite in GT4 that I would like to see as a FR or 4WD car is the generation V Golf GTI.

They'll probably have the new Mk 5 Golf R32. It'll be out by then, ive seen pics of it on rsportscars already. But I hope they put that focus in, like someone else said, thats a serious sleeper!

The mini stuff sounds a bit OTT though. However i'd like to see the Z Cars Monte Carlo (mini). That's one cool car!

Your right on the money there, it is indeed zcars who builds these animals! But at £18,000 for the top mini i think its a bit out of reach at the moment!!! (wishes for winning lottery numbers :) )

As for the 700 bhp engined mini i think i should make it clear that zcars dont actually offer this service officially but im sure if you asked them nicely with a large cash incentive you would get that monster mini! :nervous:

About drivetrain conversions- very possible. There's a guy who posted pictures of his RWD Integra on the 'we-todd-did-racing' website. He said that he took the drivetrain out of a Honda CRV and left the front axles disconnected. Poof! RWD Integra.

Along those lines, how about the AWD Volkswagen R32 system stuffed under a mark I Golf and leaving the fronts disconnected for a RWD (Rabbit) Golf?

Motor swaps- cool idea. Though check this out for complexity. Weigh the engines themselves and have the engine affect the weight of the vehicle that you are putting the engine in. Here's an example: The Corvette, since 1963, has used a front mid-mount setup. That is, the centerline of the forward most pistons are behind the centerline of the front axle. It's still considered FR, but all of the bulky mass lies between the centerlines of the wheels. I guess it could be classified as a MR setup, but the engine is still in front of the driver. In Corvette's case, the engine is also very slightly offset to the passenger side of the car to offset the driver's weight.

My old 1960s block 383 is nice, but what would be even sweeter is one of those all aluminum LS6 (C5 ZO6) engines swapped into my car.

I'll do that swap for real one of these years. It would be awesome to have that ability in a future version of Gran Turismo, but as in real life, I would want the weight of the aluminum engine to reflect on the overall weight of the car I just put the engine in. As in, I just increased power with a new ZO6 engine and lightened the car's weight because an aluminum engine just replaced an iron one.

It would be very cool if there where some more regulations , like no carbon parts , ceramic brakes , not just drive type and power / production year.

So something like a 401 Buick in a 57 Bel air would be game?

If GT5 has engine swaps I will heve no life whatsoever. :dopey:

dont forget the NSX powered CRX. I think they should bring back that race car option. That thing it 1&2 that let you make your car into a race car with all the sponsers and such. Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 also lets you do engine transplants
