Hi,

I think I have noticed an error on this model with an upgraded exhaust.

Look at the photos:

When I bought the Titanium Racing Exhaust, this problem appeared. Also when I changed it back to the standard exhaust, it disappeared.

Do you guys think it supposed to look like that? I don't think so.

It also happens to the GT-R '07. I believe some cars do change the placement of the exhausts when you upgrade to Titanium Racing Exhaust. I don't really remember which ones though. >_>

It's not an error, it's a heat shield. Protects the bumper from getting heat damage. The 300ZX has a pair of them when using a racing exhaust too.

I don't see what the problem is, it's not like the GT-R was a nice looking car to begin with. :boggled: At least this makes it look like it was meant for the track.

This is correct. Not an error but a little detail. I guess if someone doesn't like it... just paint the whole car silver? Or use the semi-racing system.

Interesting... I drive that car a lot but haven't ever really examined the tail end...

If that is a heat shield due to titanium exhaust, is it a common feature for any car you put a titanium exhaust on?

If it is a heat shield, then PD should spend a little more time on this to make more detail on it. It just looks ugly.

If these photos are based in real life, it would look a lot better!

I never noticed it until i painted my car and then I thought...damn painters taped up the area and painted it wrong. :ouch:

Those are heat shields? Wow. Why is this the only car I've seen with heat shields?

The Lancia Delta Integrale also switches exhaust positioning when fully tuned.
It mimics the exhaust location of the WRC Group A model which is on the right not on the left like with the road car.

I recently noticed this as well. But I am pretty sure that is an error and not a heat shield. Looks like the color of the exhaust bleeds onto the car. However I am about to take close up pictures of it just to make sure.

EDIT: Looks like an error to me. Besides, the lower bumper of the car is carbon fiber which dissipates heat extremely well, from what I have been told; I haven't studied its molecular properties obviously. I had carbon fiber exhaust on my CBR, which was an under-seat exhaust, no heat shield was required and it NEVER got hot. You could run it all you wanted to and touch the exhaust without burning your hand. So if it is a heat shield, kind of dumb on PDs part and it looks like crap. But to me, looks like a crap error. Looks so bad in fact that I run the semi-racing exhaust with a loss of of 19 hp. Oh well.

I noticed that as well, it needs fixing. That just looks terrible, if it was meant to be a heatshield they didn't put any effort into it, it looks like a glitch to be honest, it's the same colour as the exhaust below it which may mean the texture has over run onto the bumper.

GTRs look like they hit every branch on the way down as they fell out of the ugly tree anyway. It is ugly.

This bumper protection thingy is ugly too, but I don't think it's there by accident.

If it is a heat shield, I'd expect it to have some sort of rivet or bolt holding it on, it's unlikely PD would omit such a detail. Given the job it does, it's definitely not glued on! I just ignore it, though, I don't want to use the cheaper exhaust and I also want to keep the Midnight Purple III paint. Doesn't affect me much from the bumper cam.

wow. you must have absolutely no sense of car beauty to say that. if anything, the GTR looks normal. there's nothing extreme about its design, which is what normally causes people to either like or dislike a car.

I know it is called a "heat shield" but one of the main things I have used those for is to prevent the bumper from being stained with black soot from extra unburned HCs in the exhaust. It's a lot easier to wipe off the stainless than it is to scrub the bumper. I have epoxied several on and never had a problem with it melting and falling off either.

That's very common, it's supposed to look like that and looks pretty much as they do in the real world. Yea there are a few that are done with a lil more flash but most are business. If you use the power of Googolplex you can see what they look like on real cars.

In the end if yah don't like it, change it. Nothing forcing you to run a titanium exhaust.

I spent a good amount of time looking at both pictures trying to figure out what the problem was supposed to be. No wonder, there's no problem at all.

Simple reason why the exhaust has changed place. Its a free flowing design with less bend possible. If you could look under the car, you'll see that it is nearly strait front to back, hence the position on the rear bumper.
Its pretty common to see that in real life too.

It looks like this was their design strategy - They took a lump of clay and made a basic car shape out of it. Then they beat it mercilessly with a stick to form odd angles in strange places. Then started selling it.

Lol, ok it's not as bad as say a pontiac aztec. But I do actually think it's pretty ugly.

Don't try to tell someone their opinion is wrong. It makes you look silly.

Quit arguing you're both posting opinions and then flaming the other person for theirs.
